Otter Run Nehalem River - with a large two level deck overlooking the Nehalem River and a 5 person Hot Tub. The home is a 2200 sq ft, two level house, 3 bedrooms with beds for 8, two full baths, laundry room, and large open living and kitchen area. Two person kayak and two bicycles are also available. Dog friendly with dog and kid proof deck gate if needed. Central heat and air with two ceiling fans and wood burning fireplace. Fishermen bring your license, trout starting in May and our famous Chinook Salmon run late summer early fall. Complete home office set up - WiFi, printer, outlets for additional equipment, work desk with leather office chair.

Christmas vacation stay on the coast.

Thank you Ted for allowing us to rent this most amazing and stunning home on the Nehalem river. He has provided everything someone may need while staying there. My spouse, three children, my sister and I all spent a week here during the 2024 Christmas holiday season while visiting the coast to see our family. He went above and beyond to make sure we were all accommodated for. There was a power outage due to a storm and he communicated with us all the updates from the electric company about when the outage would be back on. We were also able to host our Christmas dinner there at this home. Thank you Ted for making this a Christmas that we will cherish for many years.

Perfect Getaway

The Gibson House is a wonderful family getaway spot. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Thoroughly enjoyed the location and amenities. The house was clean, comfy beds and beautiful location. Hope to visit this location again. Only thing we did notice there was only one wash cloth between the two bathrooms. We made do but may want to consider adding more. Other than that perfect.

Relaxation Time

We had a very relaxing, fun time with family and friends. The house had everything we needed. A flyer was left telling about a Jazz festival at a local winery. We went and had a great time, it was just down the road. We even did a little fishing but nothing was biting, but we still had fun. Beautiful home with everything you need!

Great view and overall value

I had my son, husband, and some family visiting from Australia and the U.K. with me. We enjoyed the superb view and tranquil setting; the lovely interior, the home decor, the well-stocked kitchen; and access to streaming platforms. I would give this property the highest rating except that we had an issue with the upstairs bathroom and some furniture needed dusting. The owner, Ted was quick to respond with text. We forgot a couple of things, and he graciously informed us so we could pick them up later. Overall, our family greatly enjoyed our time here.

Very relaxing

Great place to stay. Spent two weeks there during the summer. Sat on the deck and watched the boats go by on the river. Watched the deer graze in the meadow across the street. Enjoyed the local flavor, especially Wanda’s and Buttercup. Short drive to the beach at Manzanita. 5 stars.

good time had by all

Love the old charm, mixed with the newer amenities, everything worked good, couldn't find the hot tub key. Enjoyed a small fireworks display across the river.

Wonderful getaway on the Oregon coast

It doesn’t get much better than the Gibson house! The house was beautiful, well stocked, clean, and comfortable. We loved sitting in the deck (often in the hot tub) just watching the river. So peaceful. An eagle was perched in the tree by the driveway -very cool to see him flying to the river to catch fish!! Ted is great and helped us with all our questions. Manzanita Beach is a 5-min drive away with some great cafes and restaurants. Don’t even think twice - you’ll be so happy you booked this house!

Wonderful Relaxing Stay

This home on the river is a great place to unwind and enjoy a beautiful view. It has a homey feel and you can tell it is loved by the owners. Drinking coffee on the deck in the morning, enjoying the hot tub and visiting nearby Manzanita were some of our highlights!

Beautiful House on Nahalem River

We stayed with another family and had a fantastic time! Every morning, we savored the river view while soaking in the hot tub, creating a perfect start to the day. In the evening, we enjoyed the fireplace while watching movies. We shared memorable memories with our fellow guests during our stay. Beautiful house

This house is absolute beautiful! It is well stocked with linens and kitchen items. Ted is very easy to communicate with and is very accommodating. The fully fenced porch is great for the dogs too. Would definitely stay here again!

What an Amazing Place!

We arrive on Friday and we’re immediately blown away. To be honest, the pictures don’t do it justice. We held our wedding here and there was plenty of space and parking. The water was beautiful, the lush greenery was perfect. Ted was a great host, very helpful, quick to reply to questions. We definitely plan to return!

Retreat on the River

We cannot say enough positive things about this property. The views are wonderful and the area is quiet and peaceful. The house is very comfortable and Ted has thought of everything you will need while staying there. There are games and puzzles for evenings and lots of outdoor seating for dining. The kitchen is well appointed for cooking indoors and there were implements for the gas grill as well. The house was in a great location for day trips to area sites. For anyone wanting to taste some great local wine, try visiting Nehalem Winery. And we found everything we could possibly need for making evening meals at Manzanita Fresh Foods, including a nice selection of wines and organic produce. If we travel to the area again, we will definitely look to see if the Gibson House is available. Thank you Ted for such a lovely place to visit!

Great family vacation!

We loved the house and the property! It was kid friendly, dog friendly, and grandparent friendly all at the same time. We loved the unique features of the house - the wood ceilings, nice fixtures, and solid furniture. The added touches for convenience and luxury were nice as well - we played games, flipped through magazines and books, and used the kayak with our dog. Our kids loved swimming in the river and collecting shells and rocks at low tide. The hot tub was a big hit for all of us! Peaceful mornings with bald eagles flying overhead. We definitely would stay here again. Thanks, Ted!

Riverside Gem

My family experienced our best vacation ever at this property. If you love just observing nature, close proximity to a wealth of hiking, and the ocean a short drive away…this might be the rental for you. My older kids loved kayaking on the river with the 2 person kayak that is available. After a day of hiking it was nice to sit in the hot tub on the deck and gaze at the river. The large kitchen/ family area makes it easy for everyone to eat and relax together.

Great place to stay!!

It is better than the pictures! Very clean and in a peaceful setting. We had are two dogs and kids and it was perfect!! The evenings there were spectacular. It was a short drive to the beach. The only problem is everything closed so early in Manzanita. Be sure to stock up on everything first. It was amazing!!!

Beautiful Nehalem Home

We rented this beautiful property for our wedding weekend, not expecting it to be as magical as it was. We enjoyed the beauty of the river, the wild life, and the closeness of the adorable seaside towns and iconic beaches. The house was warm and inviting and non of us wanted to leave.

A peaceful weekend with beauty all around

The view of the river is beautiful & can be seen throughout the house. We had plenty of room for 5 adults. The beds were comfortable & the kitchen was well stocked. Everything we needed was there. We enjoyed making hamburgers on the grill, & spending time in the hot tub. There are a lot of spices available to use. It takes some time to heat up, so turn it on earlier than you plan to use it. We roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. We used our own chairs & didn’t look to see if there were some to use. It was so great to be able to bring our dogs with us. There are dog dishes available to use & dog treats in the cupboard. The dogs are able to be on the deck with the railings. They liked being with us, although their favorite place to be was swimming in the river. They couldn’t get enough. We enjoyed the Mamma Mia Italian restaurant in Nehalem. The pizza & salad was delicious. The owners were very friendly & let us have our dogs on the deck with us (as it was hot in the cars). Ted is attentive & gracious. When I asked about grocery stores & restaurants in the area, he responded quickly with some suggestions. I accidentally left a special pillow behind (that used to be my grandma’s), & he met up with us in Portland, so I could get it back. It was a wonderful Memorial Day trip with our adult kids who visited from out of town. The stay was very peaceful and relaxing. We plan on visiting again.

river getaway

a joy to stay on a long weekend trip to celebrate a family birthday, right on the river, fishing off the bank, had fun with the kayak available, making fire in the firepit, great sunrise in the morning while we enjoyed the hot tub on the deck, went crabbing down the road, quick drive to the beach or the towns of nehalem, wheeler, manzanita. some noise being right next to busy road but otherwise wonderful accommodations! appreciate the communication from ted in preparation for stay! overall a very pleasant trip, highly recommend

Four Great Days with Family

Our Family LOVES this property. We have stayed twice now, once in Spring and once in Fall and both were amazing. Fishing, ocean, restaurants and mostly the view from the house overlooking the river. No con's about this place, worth every penny. And my dog loved it too!!!!

Rockaway house

The only thing that I can think of that we were disappointed about was getting from the house to the beach. The grass is overgrown and the path is thin just walking through that area some got cuts on their legs. Also when we first got there and tried going out on the patio both screen doors were off the hinges and would not slide. There also was one glass that had a piece chipped out of it so we left that up on the counter. Everything else was fine. Well stocked with dishes etc. and overall it was a nice place to stay.

I designed and built the house with my father. I'm not an architect but I think I did a pretty good job on the design considering all the rules with rivers, creeks, roads, height restrictions, etc. I live here full time unless the house is rented and then I venture out in my motor home. The problem with the motor home, there are very few places, even in Oregon, that are prettier than right here so I tend to look for new and unique places.

So private and cozy. Before I bought this property, I wanted to build on the coast but I'm so glad I'm here instead. The weather is better, there is much more wildlife to view, fishing is great, the dogs love it and no crowds of beachcombers to bother you. But we are very close to one of the prettiest views of the entire Oregon coast (maybe in the entire nation - no joke) at the Neahakanie turnouts on Hwy 101 jusgt two miles north of Manzanita, not to mention one of the best beaches is at Manzanita.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

So much to see and do on the Oregon coast and this house is in the perfect spot to venture from. If you are into Antiquing - go to Wheeler; golfing - Manzanita or the famous Gearhart Golf Links 30 miles north; beach combing - Manzanita, Oswald West, or Cannon Beach; hiking - first suggestion might be Neahakanie mountain, 2 miles, 900ft elevation, to the most fantastic view of the coast; shopping - Cannon Beach, kid stuff - Seaside. OK you get the idea - so much to do here.

Some of the wildlife we view regularly right off the deck: eagles, river otters, beavers, elk, deer, raccoons, sea lions and lots of birds like great blue herons, kingfishers, comorants, ducks, red tail hawks, osprey, and of course many species of seagulls. And this is actually pretty rare but I've twice seen our resident albino/white deer in the field across the road. Maybe you will be lucky if you take a look early in the morning. She's easy to spot if she's there.

Venture out on our two person kayak (be sure to wear a life vest) or go for a bike ride on one of the two bikes available (be sure to wear a helmet). Trout fishing right off the bank starts in May and the famous Chinook salmon run starts about August (it's up to the fish when they decide to come thru) and runs thru October. Steelhead fishing is very good a little further up the north fork of the Nehalem river. Steelhead is a winter sport - December thru February - but steelhead is "THE" prize fish to catch not to mention it taste really good. Be sure to check the rules and get a license. Razor Clamming is another famous Oregon past time just about 25 miles north at Del Rey beach just north of Seaside. And yes you can drive on that beach, north for miles actually. You need a really low tide and a clam shovel or clam gun (there are two on the propery) and of couse a fishing license.
