Información de la propiedad
Bill's Rustic Cabin
Bill's rustic cabin is the perfect location to be one with nature. It is a 5 minute boat ride to access the cabin at the beginning of your stay and the end of your stay (the boat ride to and from is included in the rate).
You’ll love the place because of the: privacy, serenity, sunsets, and all of the trees. The cabin is ideal for couples, kayakers and solo adventurers. A newly erected gazebo with screen curtains provides a private lakeshore west facing sunset view (on a private dock).
4 kayaks, a canoe and an aluminum boat with oars are available at no extra charge, but any damage is the guest's responsibility.
The space
The cottage is very private and exudes old log charm. Electricity powers the kitchen appliances and hot water; the shower is located just outside the cabin. Off the main room are two bedrooms; one contains a queen sized bed and the other a double bed; bedroom windows face the lake from above. Being an old school set-up, bathroom facilities are a two-seated outhouse.
Inside there is an airtight log stove and outside there is a 2x2 firepit with a removable grill. Brush is plentiful for kindling up the hill behind the cabin. Guests should bring bags of wood for both the log stove and firepit, (they need to be brought in on the boat access ride in).
The outside is lit up by 4 lights at night so it is usable after dark. Guests need to bring their own drinking water. The water is clean for swimming and deep off the (far) end diving. Beautiful hiking terrane behind the cabin: lots of trees, valleys, rivers and ponds to explore. The fishing in the many inlets and rock sholes can be good for different types of bass and prehistoric lake trout. A fishing license should be obtained (on the internet), before arriving. Fishing equipment is not included.
Guest access
The entire property is yours while you are there and also the many acres behind the private property with areas to hike and explore. Please take your cell phone or compass with you.
One can hike back to the mainland and parking lot, (via the hydro line, a 60 - 90 minute hike). Starting from the parking lot there are numerous hiking trails.
After agreeing upon a meeting time and a heads-up text that you are an hour away, you can back up to the boat launch (government dock with yellow railings) infront of Oakview Lodge and unlaod your belongings, food, water and wood out ONTO to dock. Once unloaded you can drive back up the hill a short ways, (the way you came in), and park your car in lot one on the left or lot two on the right.
If you want to rent a boat and motor to cruise around the lake you can get one at either Little Hawk Lake Resort and Marina or Oakview Lodge. A boat license should be obtained (on the internet), before arriving.
