This was the perfect autumn getaway. Beautiful sunrises with the crisp morning air and the slight fog on the water as you see the fisherman's boat's shadow through the fog. Truly, that was our last morning!Actually, rainbow trout fishing was excellent! We were catching at minimum 3 per outing. Cast about 20 yards straight out from the dock.We will be back next year!

David and Rae were the IDEAL guests for Sunrise Cabin in the fall. They happily fished all week and caught lots of trout and bass right off the dock. They explored the Lake in the Old Town canoe we provide, joined the locals in Matlock for the hunter's breakfast, and ate at the Lake Nahwatzel Resort. They took the scenic train ride on the historic Simpson train and, in short, took advantage of a time of year too often ignored by people wanting a quiet get-away. The cabin was left in great shape, and we very much hope to see them again. We have made new friends.

These two were ideal guests: They pre-read the directions and followed them exactly; they took advantage of the dock, the kayaks, the fishing, and the beautiful weather. We'd love to have them return! Great way to start the summer!

We really enjoyed our early November stay at this lovely cabin! Sitting by the gas fireplace and enjoying the stunning lake view was a great way to wind down after some hiking and kayaking.

Some guests give as much pleasure as they get: Jay got so much enjoyment out of his fishing, that it spilled over onto us. It was also gratifying to see them enjoy the canoe on an autumn lake, which is so much more peaceful than in the summer. We would welcome them back!

Beautiful stay

A perfect place to enjoy our Washington family The house had everything we needed, well stocked kitchen. Enjoyed the kayaks with the grandchildren and the lake was so beautiful. Would recommend this place to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin had a gorgeous view of the lake, truly the best spot on the water. The hosts were exceptional, by far the best we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Thoughtful, welcoming, and attentive. Highly recommend!

This party of four already feels like fast friends. They were congenial, quiet, careful, very respectful of the cabin and the property, and we would be thrilled to see them again sometime. Their meticulous care of our somewhat complicated recycle requirements (ala Mason County) is greatly appreciated, and the cabin was left spotless. They took advantage of our proximity to beaches and hiking trails and seemed to believe their unbelievably long drive from Salt Lake City was well worth it. They somehow fitted in the walk behind the lake and kayaking as well. Of course we would love to have them back again!

Great property on the water. Hosts were very helpful with suggestions for sights to see while in the area. Be aware that you will need to carry luggage down a hill and steps into the property from the parking spot.

Lake cabin

This was the best get away we have had. We like to just get away for a weekend every couple of months just to unplug and this was perfect!

Relaxing lake getaway

Close to home, but such a nice change of pace. Loved being on the lake and having access to a canoe and kayaks. Great hosts, too!

Bernice and Bernie were the ideal guests, and we would welcome them back anytime with open arms. We especially appreciated their respect for the cabin and the lake, as well as their obvious appreciation for the wealth of nature here on Lake Nahwatzel. They took the opportunity to explore the lake and the shoreline with the kayaks and were rewarded with a view of two young eagles who both survived (rare). We are thrilled that they were thrilled! Like us, the Ege-Zavalo's try to leave a small footprint, recycling and composting when possible. Their care of the cabin and the environment means everything to us. Betsy and Dave Livesay

Great week away

We (myself, spouse, and 2 kids ages 10 and 6) had a wonderful week. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoe and the peacefulness of the lake. We will definitely return. One of our favorite weeks away from home in years.

Megan and Reid treated the cabin as if it were their own home. Everything was put away, clean, and tidy. Though they had lousy weather, they said they had a "fabulous" time anyway. Megan and Reid were respectful of the cabin, quiet and friendly. We hope they can come back some time when the weather's better. Betsy

Quiet little getaway

Really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The lake is beautiful and enjoyed watching people water ski and fish. Owners are very kind. Their house sits behind the cabin therefore, provided privacy. New furniture was comfortable, beds are nice too! We will be back!

Anniversary getaway on the lake

Sunrise cabin was exactly what we were looking for to spend our child-free anniversary weekend away! (Although our kids would have loved it too) It was an absolute gem. We loved being able to just wake up and go fishing off the dock or go out on our paddle board and the kayaks. We enjoyed hiking in the area too. The hosts, Dave and Betsy, are so sweet and accommodating. We definitely plan to visit again!

Beautiful Setting and Cabin

We rented this cabin with our two grandsons, 12 and 13. They had a blast canoeing and kyaking. The hosts Dave and Betsy were on site to assist with any needs or questions we had. The cabin was top notch-- very clean and well stocked with so many items we needed. The boys enjoyed fishing and caught a few too. I highly recommend this vacation cabin.

Nice little getaway

Had a great time away from the city. I was able to fish off the dock. My partner and I also were able to use the canoe that was available. It actually inspired us to look into getting one of our own. Overall had a relaxing time on the lake and look forward to another visit in the future.

just what we needed

The huge deck is what sold me! The view and the sounds of the water on the shore were so relaxing. We enjoyed a lap around the lake on the kayaks, a game of scrabble on the deck followed by a glass of wine at sunset. The movies we watched at night with some of the treats supplied were a blast from the past! The only thing we missed out on was a day hike because it was bear cub season and a nighttime fire because of dry conditions which they had no control over. Dave and Betsy were very friendly and made us feel welcome.

WFH with a view by the lake!

Taking work with me while the family is on spring break seemed like a bad idea, but it turned out to be an amazing workcation thanks to Betsy and David at their excellent cabin by the lake. We were looking for a little getaway with kids out of school for the week, despite having reservations elsewhere, we were drawn to Dave and Betsy's cabin and changed our plans last minute after stumbled upon it on the site. I needed to work while there, so it was important that I had a decent connection. While there was a tiny internet hiccup on the first day, Dave and Betsy were very responsive and resolved it quickly and we had no trouble for the rest of the stay. The cabin is fully stocked with just about everything we would need for a comfortable stay. The location and view, unbeatable, the deck, amazing. We had a great time kayaking and canoeing on the lake and took a hike in the area. Kids roasted marshmallow on the fire pit in the evening. Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to returning in the future.

The Tsai's just left with promises they would definitely be back! They were perfect guests and left us feeling like we had made new friends. Extra cool that they had planned to go to Lake Chelan and changed their minds at the last minute--and we're thrilled with their stay! Honestly, guests like the Tsai's make it SO worth it.

Exceeded Our Expectations!!!

Rarely does a vacation rental exceed our expectations, but Sunrise Cabin certainly did! Wow, spectacular views of the lake and forest surrounding the cabin. Coming from a city, the best part was the quiet, peace and tranquility offered by its superb location right next to the water and away from any traffic or road noise. There are neighbors on one side, but they are not close and the cabin remains very private. The hosts, Betsy and Dave, were warm, welcoming and so generous for sharing their amazing cabin with us. We had so much fun on the kayaks and canoe! Lake Nahwazel is the perfect size lake, not too big and not too small. Excellent for novices to the more advanced at water sports. In addition to the water activities, there are hiking trails around the cabin allowing for long nature walks. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. There are restaurants in the nearby town of Shelton (12 miles away), but we opted to buy groceries at the Shelton Safeway and enjoy all of our meals on the cabin's fabulous deck overlooking the lake. We did not want to leave the spectacular view! It does not get any better than this setting. We will definitely make it a point to return again and again to enjoy this serene, tranquil and peaceful cabin. Please be respectful guests so that Betsy and Dave continue to make their cabin available for vacation rentals. Thank you Betsy and Dave for sharing your slice of paradise with us!

From the moment we walked in, we were grinning. Everything about it met or exceeded or expectation. And the host (as well as the owners) could not have been more helpful. Wish I could have boxed it up and brought it home with me.

Wonderful lake cottage

We had an amazing week at Sunrise Cabin on Lake Nahwatzel. The cabin is nicely furnished, supplies were plentiful, and the owners were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the kayaks and canoe, fishing off the dock, swimming, hiking on the road through the woods, eating our meals on the deck, and day trips to a local fish hatchery and Olympic National Park. Everything was well maintained and clean, ready for our wonderful vacation. We'd definitely like to stay here again.
