Family owned cabin since 1965 located in best area of the North Shore is now offered for rent for their first time! Steps to beautiful, level and private solid bedrock shoreline - walk out with your cup of coffee in the morning to the lake. Or a great place to picnic in the afternoon... Or enjoy a cocktail "on the rocks" in the evening. Or just sit on the deck and watch/listen to the waves crash on the ledge rock below (waves can be heard at night inside too providing calming bedtime music).

South Facing means sun all day! On quiet Cascade Beach Road which provides opportunity for long walks without noise and fear of traffic. Quick drive to nearby and spectacular Cascade River Falls and Temperance River Falls. 15 minute drive to Grand Marais; 10 minute drive to Lutsen resort, golf, and ski area. Turnaround parking for trailers. Architecturally pleasing stone fireplace and windows overlooking Lake Superior make the Great room a warm and inviting area to hang out, talk, read a book, or listen to music.

Loft has queen bed, the main level has a double bed and a twin, and a second twin is also on the main level.

The vintage cabin is the perfect and cozy North Shore getaway. A great location between Lutsen and Grand Marais. Very peaceful and private with a beautiful view of Lake Superior

Nice old family cabin with beautiful rocky shore. Rustic sleeping arrangements; not much privacy. We were under supplied with towels (they gave us 3 full sized towels for 6 guests,) and the host was non-responsive on email for request for more towels; days passed with no response. You might want to avoid a low-clearance vehicle; the final access to the property is down a short, but steep rutted road.

Nice cabin, well equipped, great view of lake from living room. Nice stepping stone shore line with orange moss and wild lilies. Crashing waves against the shore. Mid July.

We enjoyed our stay at Lichen Cabin. It was clean and had a surprising variety of kitchen utensils. The cabin was well appointed and had some fun decor surprises. There were only two small issues, which were the fire pit needed to have lots of brush cleaned out of it before use and the third bedroom Twin bed was very uncomfortable. Our host answered promptly to questions and was able to send someone to change a high up light bulb that had burnt out. It is a beautiful location right on Lake Superior and handy for exploring the North Shore. I would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the lichen cabin and enjoyed all the moods of Lake Superior in late summer. Cosy comfortable and just perfect. I’ve lost count but I think this is our 6th visit. Already looking forward to next year

Gorgeous location; friendly & helpful owner

Beautiful property & view. Super quaint & cool interiors — with a well-equipped kitchen for cooking. Left something sentimental behind and owner was great in helping us get it back. Had a terrific stay!

Grateful for a wonderful stay at Lichen Cabin

We have stayed at the Lichen cabin 6 (7?) times and I look forward to going back. The location right on Lake Superior is magnificent and the cabin is beautiful and cosy with many spaces to gather or be on one’s own including out on near the water. We just love this place and are already looking forward to next years visit

Cozy Cabin

Quaint, cozy and comfortable cabin right on the water. Very convenient to all hiking trails, the lake, Grand Marais, and much more. We will definitely be back!

I purchase the cabin from my two aunts, my uncle and my father when they inherited it from my grandmother after her death. I have been going up there since 1967.

Very close to the lake. No highway noise. Very private location. Cabin rates high on character and charm. Cabin is a great place to escape from city life and read, talk, sleep, walk, hike, play games, etc.
