Exactly what we needed

We stayed at the Dunes in Myrtle Beach for a gymnastics competition (family of four). The full size fridge and kitchenette was great; however the microwave did not work well. The kids favorite part was the water park and heated pools, which were such a great amenity in cold December!

Black Mold

We arrived at 4 p.m. for check-in but couldn't check in immediately as the traffic was backed up—the line of cars for check-in was all the way in the street (not enough room near the hotel). The hotel itself is very outdated and not very clean. During our stay, the pools were never open at 9 a.m., and they did not seem to be clean even in the morning! The room we booked originally had black mold in the Air Conditioner. I am not talking about little specs of mold; there were mold spores the size of a mushroom growing inside the AC unit (I took many pictures to prove it). The Front Desk moved us to another room—there were no mushrooms inside the AC, but the mold was still present. We had to call maintenance the first night (when we arrived) to unclog the tub—the water wouldn't drain. TVs did not work as they had to be programmed with the code. My child got a swimmer's ear from the dirty pool water and developed the cough the second day we stayed there...and two weeks later, she still has that cough. (Black Mold is DANGEROUS!!!)

Fine for what we needed, but very dated

We were in town for a family reunion so we did not stay in the unit very much. But it is very outdated and the room is extremely bare. The view from the balcony was the only saving grace for the most part.

Family friendly property

Overall nice.properry that is on the older side but mostly maintained. Few things here or there could use a deep clean or touch up paint but overall the property and amenities are great.

Great place

We love coming here. We have stayed in this same place for the past two years. The owners are easy to reach, and the room is kept in great shape. It is perfect for our family. The extended balcony is an added bonus. We will continue to come here every year.

Mini-staycation

Little outdated in the kitchen and bathroom, sofa stained and bedspread as well. Bed was comfy, both Lazy Rivers were being repaired but the gift shop staff were very nice as were check in folks

Book something else

Nothing against the person renting. The room was very dirty, the oven burners were broken. The bathroom tiles were cracked and just dirty overall. Spotted few little cockroaches and a big one in the sleeping area. Notified the manager with a picture and no response yet.

Stress Reliever

Overall, very nice. Only issue was being too close to the poll and Cabana area. Music too loud and drunken folks obnoxious. Couldn’t enjoy the balcony whatsoever.

Great place at a great rate

Overall pleased and would stay again. Our room was very clean and there was plenty to do for the kids. The cafe that served Starbucks was really great for the mornings. The 4 star review for cleanliness is specific to the hot tubs and water park area…could have been maintained a little better in my opinion but everything else was perfectly clean.

Good place but cleanliness is questionable.

Nice place and views and close to everything, but there was a few things with the cleaning that was gross. The dishes weren’t clean when we checked in and there was a bug smushed(dead) in the cupboard door…

Fall Break

We only stayed here one night in our 4 city visit for Fall Break, so I did not address my concerns since we weren't staying long. From the pictures I thought we were going to be higher up but we were on the first floor and the condo was right next to the bar and the employee work area which made for some loud noises - once we turned on oiur noisemakers we were able to drown out the loud music. The couch bed was very uncomfortable and we even tried just putting the mattress on the floor and it was still uncomfortable. As I mentioned earlier, I did not address any of these issues since we were only here for one day, but if I were staying longer then I definetly would have reached out to see if our concerns could have been addressed.

Building was old and a bit outdated. Pullout couch mattress needs an upgrade - either a new one or a comfy topper, it was VERY uncomfortable. View was amazing and room was mostly fine - kitchen was nice to have, bathroom needs better finishing work, the caulking around all fixtures was messy. The staff in main building very friendly, lots of kids activities to join in on top of the water parks, pools, beach. Access to the beach was perfect! We enjoyed our stay, location was perfect in our opinion but we had a rental car to get to the popular areas, as we said the view was amazing and just what we wanted, and being able to leave the building to the beach was great! We are ones that at times just view the room as somewhere to sleep, it was clean and aside from the pull out mattress was comfortable, so if looking for fancy 5*'s, I wouldn't say that but i feel like rest makes up for anything the room or building ascetics lack.

Great Visit

Everything was pretty great. The room was clean besides a small hiccup that was corrected by the property management team. They we're super communicative and very attentive. The property was super easy to navigate, my toddler had a blast.

Good! But I was expecting more.

The apartment filled our expectations, but the building needs more attention. It is an old construction, and it is clear that salt in the environment corrodes the structure of any building. But that does not mean the resort could do more to maintain the building in better condition. There were paint chips on walls, doors and ceilings. Some piping exposed on the ceiling had spider webs. The hallway carpets were dirty and in some areas it was in bad condition. They will need to replace soon that carpet and install easy-to-clean flooring material.
