Beautiful House Overlooking Bass Harbor

Enjoy the amazing sunsets from the deck of this beautiful house located on Bass Harbor.

This charming, antique-filled, two bedroom Cape Cod style house is a comfortable and picturesque home base from which to enjoy your Mt. Desert Island vacation.

The large deck is complete with a dining table and gas grill as well as lounge chairs for sitting in the sun and enjoying the water views.

The first floor is open and breezy with living and dining room offering unrestricted views of the harbor. The cozy den/tv room has a sleeper sofa for additional sleeping arrangements. A full kitchen with microwave, toaster oven, drip coffee pot and Kuerig K-cup. Dishwasher, washer/dryer and bath with a shower complete the first floor.

The second floor features a primary bedroom with a queen bed, a second bedroom with twin beds (which can be converted into a king size bed), and a full bath.

Launch your kayak right off the back lawn and paddle your way through the lobster boats moored in the harbor. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are just a short drive away as are wonderful restaurants, shopping and all the charm of the quiet side of the island.

This is a charming , well appointed, clean house with a water view on the “quiet side” of MDI. It’s convenient to hikes, restaurants, and groceries. The host is very responsive. This is my second time renting this home and I hope to return.

We loved this property. Super clean, beautiful views, and definitely a home away from home. Had everything we needed for the week. Stunning views of the harbor. Loved coming back to watch the sunset every evening. Paul was a great host and answered all of our questions. He even shared some of the history of the property. We will be back!

The house was clean, was pet-friendly, and the kitchen was well equipped. There is a deck in the back overlooking the harbor and excellent sunsets.

It was a perfect vacation house for our family of 4 and a small dog. First time visiting Acadia. Great location to explore the park. Quiet inlet to watch beautiful sunsets and have a fire to cook some s'mores. The town of Southwest harbor is just down the road and has a couple of great restaurants. The house is very comfortable.

Wonderful one week stay at a comfortable, well-appointed, well-maintained property. Our host, Paul, had excellent communication and responded promptly when needed.Beautiful setting and quiet location. The home had all the amenities needed, fully-stocked kitchen and comfortable surroundings, inside and out. Beds were great, and the entire house was clean and well maintained. Highly recommend this host and property.

We had a fantastic time

We had a great time, Bass Harbor is located near South Harbor with good dining options. Nice views, close to everywhere, no more than 20-30min everything. I loved the house, well appointed, had everything we needed for a great week in Maine.

Gorgeous views

This was our third stay and we didn't think it could be improved but this year we were welcomed by a newly renovated kitchen that kept all of the charm while adding seating and cooking space. As ever, Paul is a very responsive and helpful host.

Awesome Visit

Our family of 4 and our dog had an awesome time at this lovely cottage on Bass Harbor. Beautiful location on the quiet side of the island. VERY well stocked with everything you need!!!!! The only thing missing is a fire pit out back to warm up on Maine's chilly nights.

Family get-a-way

Been wanting to explore Acadia for years and found a few days that worked for everyone and happy we finally made the trip! Renting bikes from Southcycle to ride through the park was very fun and taking an aqua safari on kayaks with MaineState was a memorable experience. We loved the sunsets and being so close to the water and town. We had our fill of blueberries and lobster and have a new favorite flower - lupine! House was perfect for our family of four.

Fabulous setting on the water. Newly. Renovated kitchen. Washer and dryer. Meals on the deck. Absolutely clean. This was our 4th year at this cottage, and we look forward to next year.

Peaceful place

We were back this year. We love that the property is right on Bass Harbor. We sit and look at the water, enjoy the sunsets, look for birds. Also convenient to Acadia for hiking and biking. Close to Southwest Harbor. Went kayaking right off the property.

Great Spot

Beautiful setting, convenient to Acadia trail heads, kayaking, boating, ferries, restaurants, lobster. Very comfortable house with all the essentials. We ate a lot of our meals in, so, it was important to be able to cook. This small country kitchen was perfect and we even grilled lobsters two nights. Great hosts and pet friendly. I highly recommend.

Paul’s home away from home is truly a gem! The quieter side of the park is paradise. We enjoyed playing ball with our dog and evening fires in the spacious backyard. The sunsets are heavenly! I could go on and on………

Third year in this lovely house

We enjoy being on the “quiet side” of the island. But we still have easy access to hiking and biking. We love launching our kayaks from the back yard. And the view is fabulous. I’ll also add that the house is always spotless when we arrive.

The Perfect Trip

We had a wonderful stay and after seeing the crowds in Bar Harbor we were glad to be staying on the “quiet side.” We spent our days enjoying all that Acadia has to offer and our evenings enjoying the house and everything IT has to offer. The harbor view is spectacular and instantly relaxing. Spectacular sunsets were followed by crystal clear night skies. We were lucky enough to be there during a meteor shower. The house was lovely and as advertised. We hope to be back.

Fabulous Hidden Gem

This property was located in picturesque Bass Harbor. Filled with beautiful antiques, it was perfect for our little family. This house was well appointed with everything we needed for our stay. I loved the fact that it was on the quiet side of the island during peak season, but still close to many activities to enjoy. We particularly enjoyed sea glass hunting, Beech Mountain hiking, swimming at Echo Lake, and hiking Wonderland and Ship Harbor (all 5-10 minutes from the property. Not to mention all of the other wonderful things to do closer to Bar Harbor. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

ATTENTION MDI LOVERS!

If you love Mount Desert Island, this is the place to go! The location is great, on the quiet side, easy drive to anyplace you want to be, and walking distance to a well-stocked store and great little seafood/ice cream shacks. The cottage is more lovely than the pictures show. It has a well-oufitted kitchen (we love to cook in), lovely deck and yard, and the interior is really clean and comfortable. The host was prompt to reply and very pleasant. This place is a keeper for our list.

Bass Harbor Splendor

The property was as listed. Beautiful sunsets, first morning greeted by a pair of bald eagles. House and furnishings were very homey. Kitchen was well stocked with good quality pans, dishes and glassware. Paul was very responsive, concerned when we lost power due to tropical storm. Despite being on a busy road felt very private and remote.

Family Getaway

What a beautiful place to spend a week in the summer! My partner and I brought our two young children and our dog along for the vacation and we had more than enough space in the house and the sunsets could not have been more beautiful. We loved playing by the water with the little ones and enjoying a glass of wine on the deck after putting them down for bed. Bass Harbor / Southwest Harbor is a great place to stay for families looking for a little less hustle and bustle than Bar Harbor. The drive to Acadia is relatively short and we made the 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor twice as well. Couldn't recommend this play more and definitely will be visiting again with the family!

Happy Maine Getaway

We had a wonderful vacation to Maine the third week in September. Our arrival had a bit of drama due to Hurricane Lee approaching the Island. It was down graded to a tropical storm but unfortunately made landfall on the day of our arrival. Our daughters flight was delayed by a day. You can’t do anything about the weather! The good news is the weather was fabulous for the rest of our trip. Communication with our host was great. We loved the house. It has everything you need. I was sold when I walked into the kitchen and found a clean, new sponge by the sink! So many rentals leave dirty old sponges! We loved the quiet location and view by the harbor is lovely. It is a bit of a drive to the more popular attractions and hikes but we had our car and we’re prepared for that. I would highly recommend this rental.

An excellent place in a great location!

This was an amazing place to complete our month long trip to Maine! This home was spacious, clean, well stocked and in a great location. We were less than 10 minutes from Southwest Harbor, which is a great little town. It was easy to get around from here and lots of great hiking, eating, and exploring within minutes from the door. The house is on a fairly busy road, but that was never an issue and we were able to play with our dog off leash in the back yard, which leads down to the waterside. The upstairs shower is short, but wasn’t a problem for my wife, I showered downstairs and didn’t find it too dark, nor too small for a stall type shower. Paul, the owner was awesome! He originally agreed for us to check in early, but when a wind storm knocked down limbs in the front yard, knocking out electricity, he notified us immediately, allowing us to sightsee on our way south from Lubec. Paul’s communication was timely and helpful. Thank you, Paul! We would definitely stay here again if we make it back to that part of the world! I highly recommend this VRBO!
