Papakea is an oceanfront resort with beautiful, expansive lawns that extend to the seawall, offering stunning, unobstructed views of the Pacific. While there is beach access directly in front of the resort, the amount of sandy shoreline varies throughout the day with the tides, which is common on this part of Maui. For guests looking for a larger sandy beach, there is a wonderful swimmable and snorkel-friendly beach just next door, only steps from the resort. A convenient footbridge provides easy access, making it incredibly easy to reach. We hope you had the opportunity to explore and enjoy this beautiful beach during your visit!

Thank you for your feedback, Erika. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention during your stay. The sleeper sofa was inspected immediately following your departure, and we found that a lever in the adjustment mechanism had broken, causing one corner of the sleeper to sit incorrectly. Fortunately, we were able to identify the issue so it could be addressed. The sofa itself is only about 3 1/2 years old and the sleeper portion has had relatively limited use. We were also sorry to learn that a beach chair and umbrella were not functioning properly. Beach equipment does take quite a beating from the Maui sun, sand and wind, and unfortunately we aren’t always aware when something has been damaged by a previous guest. When you let us know, we offered to reimburse you for replacement items during your stay. We take a great deal of pride in our Maui home and are very responsive when something needs attention. We take maintenance concerns seriously and had our local property manager respond in person as soon as this issue was reported. Upon inspection, he confirmed that the main-room air conditioner was operating properly and had cooled the room into the low 70s, as desired, and the guest confirmed this as well. The separate air-conditioning unit in the primary bedroom was also confirmed to be working and cooling effectively. The main unit did develop a condensation leak, which was promptly addressed and followed up on. We remain committed to responding quickly and professionally whenever a guest reports a maintenance concern.
