Our stay at the art house was wonderful. We were en route to Virginia Beach, but flew the family in for that portion of the road trip and this was our first stop. The place was just magical and comfortable. The space was open and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable and clean and sitting outside was just lovely listening to all the insects in the trees while we had dinner together. I would definitely recommend this place and go there again myself if we are ever in Asheville again. The hosts were very accommodating and communicated with us if we had any questions. A lovely place to stay.

We weren't able to sit outside with the fire from propane. There is supposedly a ban but we have friends that live in buncombe also who us are Brie fire pit.

The local fire department requested that we not have any outdoor fires due to the drought conditions in this state. We are sorry that it impacted your experience but we are following the advice from the relevant authorities.

Great stay in the mountains!

Loved our stay here, close enough to town but far enough to feel like a real retreat. Hosts were quick to respond with any questions and property was just as described in the listing. Would stay here again.

I had a wonderful stay. The owner was very communicative and understanding. I would definitely stay here again just to get a peaceful getaway. It was definitely a 10/10 experience, and I highly recommend it. Oh, and we also enjoyed seeing the baby bear and the deer.

Hideaway

This place has the best natural light and very nice deck. The host is very responsive and accommodating. This is the place to come if you want to be close to nature for peace and quiet.

Bridal shower weekend

Ten family members and two dogs came to Asheville to celebrate a bridal shower. We rented this lovely home and were very happy! Excellent attention to detail, plenty of space and beautiful surroundings!

Scott and Suzie were great. We had some trouble getting in; but, they were very helpful and quick to respond. We look forward to another stay our next time in Asheville!

An amazing home, surrounded by natural beauty!

I so loved my stay at the Mountain Art House! I needed a break from the stresses of life and I found it! And close enough to the restaurants, galleries, etc., of Asheville to easily enjoy, but out of the way enough to feel like I had my own nature refuge in the mountains! The house was beautifully appointed with everything I might need. It was a joy to stay here! This is my second time here, and can't wait to return again!

Family Getaway

It is a lovely, secluded property that could accommodate us all. It was well-appointed, including everything one might need. Check in and check out were easy, and the host responds quickly. I specifically looked for a property with a pool and this is listed with a pool--it actually has a small cool/cold spring-fed "hole" (maybe 7'x7')--if you go in, I recommend shoes, the silt is a little unnerving.

Nice Quiet Mountain Getaway

We had a wonderful nice short little getaway here! It was a very relaxing 2 days! Loved all the natural light from all the windows! Also, a very well equipped kitchen for cooking. Sadly, it rained the entire time, but we very much enjoyed the gas firepit under the covered porch and the hottub as well under a covered porch. We were able to bring our 2 dogs, which was wonderful as well. They enjoyed the time as much as we did! Thank you both for being very accommodating!

Magical place

Our stay here was very relaxing and the setting was beautiful! This is a great location, close to both Asheville, Lake Lure, and the Blue Ridge parkway. We decided to stay in just because we enjoyed hanging out on the covered deck with the gas fire pit and the kids dunking in the hot tub. The house was well supplied, clean and the bedding was comfortable. The hosts were amazing, even bringing us some additional fire wood for an evening spent out at the wood fire pit located by the pond. We would recommend this place for families and large groups, it was a great value for us. Thanks Scott and Suzie, we will definitely see you next year!

Five star responsiveness!!

It was an unusually cold winter and the pipes froze. Scott left his vacation early to come help us. Even though it was tough circumstances, he worked hard to make it work as best as possible!! We’ll definitely come back but in the summer, ha!

Price per guest listing

Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay, although there were a few bumps along the way. The email that was sent the day we arrived provided great communication from the start and the check in process was very easy. When we arrived I was surprised that the house was not as remote as advertised, situated in almost more of a shared land arrangement (close to the neighbors house and owners house too). I was also surprised at the extra $75 per guest/ per night (4+ people), since the house advertises to sleep 10, so know that the rental rate is not fixed. In my opinion, this info should be more clear on the listing to be fully transparent about all extra fees before booking. I also found the house was not “fully” cleaned before check in (old food in the refrigerator and unmade beds, though the sheets were clean and folded in the closets). The hot tub was also not properly maintained between guests, as the water level was very low and the chemicals caused an allergic reaction with my son’s skin. I did notify the owner and he responded with urgency to apologize and fix the hot tub. The owner is very kind and communicates very well with guests. Overall, the house is very nice and relaxing and still offers a quiet getaway.

Art house? More like Fart house

On the day we were suppose to go up there, We got a text at 5:30 am telling us we owed more money On the pet deposit and once paid , we would get codes to the property. Okay.. we told them we would be arriving at 7 pm. About 5:30 pm most of the way there; we got a text telling us the previous night there was a storm knocking out internet. That was 12 hours after texting us about extra dog fees. Had we known we could have downloaded content to our laptops.The internet was out 3 of the 5 days we were there. Luckily they had dvds of game of thrones so we watched a few episodes. … then we found out that some wild animal had dug and chewed up the lines. Cable guy was quite disturbed.He said he never saw anything like it. I then told the owners there was a dead mouse smell and could he come look. He looked in the laundry room.He didn’t find it there so he told us to just keep windows open. Yuck. It stunk pretty bad. By the end of our trip , it was really bad. The spring fed pool , I never even saw because the over growth was too tall and upon our arrival was a 4 foot snake in the drive way. I was afraid to walk down in the tall grass. There were no signs on any type of vegetables in the green house. Ever. And do bring towels. There were three of us. There were 3 towels. I don’t know about you but 1 towel each for 5 days was stretching it and not enough for a load to wash. I am not picky, I’m quite easy to please but I couldn’t wait to leave this place. And it is a shame. Because it was lovely inside. But needed upkeep outside. Over grown and most outdoor amenities were misrepresented. I’m sorry but thumbs way down

As our super host status on Airbnb and preferred host on Vrbo shows, we personally put a priority on providing a clean home, great guest / host communication, and any request or complaint being resolved in a timely fashion. We will offer you 10 percent off your next stay should you be interested. We lost the internet and our swimming hole in a destructive storm the day before your arrival. In discussion with the technician, the cable was damaged at the street and repairs were scheduled. (3 days). We apologize for the inconvenience and should have offered you a discount at the time upon reflection. We do provide dozens of movies DVDs, games, puzzles and 100 of CD music to help keep you entertained if something like this happens again. As for the smell, I came over immediately searched the spa area, storage room and I crawled into the the subfloor crawl space below the living area and bedrooms. I couldn’t smell anything. Without intruding on your privacy, that is all we could do at the time. When we entered to clean the premises both before and after your stay, we could not smell anything. We air out the house after each guest and are sensitive to perfumes and odors and there wasn’t any indication of a problem beforehand. We are sorry that you experienced this. As for additional towels for longer stays, just ask and we will readily furnish them. You did not request any during our frequent texts so we were unaware that you wanted them. We will begin to provide an extra set of towels for guests staying longer in the future. Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

Blissful Property

Scott’s home was amazing. The location was so peaceful and beautiful. The house has everything we needed, and we all loved the deck as well as the wood fire pit located at the front of the house. The swimming hole was a special touch, but wish we had stayed during a warmer season so that we could have enjoyed it. The home was comfortable and each bedroom was peaceful and comfortable with space for everyone in our group of six.

Beautiful

Property is so beautiful and quiet. House was very clean and plenty of space to spread out. Hot tub was enjoyed by some. The back deck is amazing and all the hummingbirds..so fun to watch. About 30 minutes to Asheville. The roads are, of course VERY winding and the house is VERY much “off the beaten path”. They have lights to guide you to the house once you are on the dirt road. And the house was lit up..so easy to see. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. Was a great place to regroup and enjoy my family.

Best of both worlds! You feel secluded but are only 12 miles from Asheville! Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the base of Mt. Little Pisgah, just 16 miles from Blue Ridge Parkway, 6 miles from lake Lure, Chimney rock and Bat cave!. Temperate rain forest with towering Tulip Magnolias surrounds a large meadow that hosts a fire fly show nightly throughout the summer! At 3,225 feet in elevation makes for cool summer breezes and stunning landscapes! Fall colors are beautiful and we typically get dusted with snow over Christmas! We are on 50 acres of conserved forested land with a beautiful pond and springs which backs up to Nature Conservancy land. The wildlife here is bountiful and the web of life is still intact. It is a beautiful place to slow down and relax!
