Could be great but inaccurate listing

This could be a very nice house if it were taken better care of. And the listing was Very inaccurate: Be aware: • Place listed as 6 bedroom. There are only 5. They consider a small gym room as a bedroom. You would have to move the weights and bench out or to one side and then sleep on a folding air mattress • And why do they list “Gym” in addition to 6 bedrooms. Can’t have both! • Listed as 3 bathrooms. 1 of the bathrooms has a tub with no curtain and no stopper. Unusable! • Many windows do not open to allow air to circulate • A/C did not impact upstairs rooms – hence the need to open windows • Many doors do not shut – including 2 bathroom doors. Have to have a system to warn people from coming in • No closet or drawers in multiple bedrooms – have to put stuff on the floor! • One of the handrails to the stairs is very fragile • Dishwasher LED lights do not work – can’t see cycle • Wet floor mop left in washer – had to rinse and clean washer before washing our clothes • Used soap in bathrooms – we went and bought our own soap and shampoo • Garage – stuff and a vehicle in the garage • Hot upstairs during September – Air condition • Said breakfast included – it is not. They removed this item after I mentioned. • They had the wrong phone number on the listing – After repeated attempts they finally agreed with me and fixed it Place needs a lot of work to make it the standard that you would expect The host did offer to refund at the start of the stay but it was too late

Wonderful stay!!

Our party consisted of 9 woman. We all slept comfortably is this absolutely gorgeous historic mansion. The home was very clean and well maintained. The property owners were readily accessible and communicative if I had any questions. At one point, I had a difficult time finding a spare air mattress and within 30 minutes, they had their cheerful House Keeper at the door to help. Again, we had a wonderful stay and I’m very interested in exploring the owner’s other properties.

Wedding weekend

Great venue for family to prep for wedding, makeup, hair and photos. Amazing! Problem with hot water, but no time to contact host. We managed. Would definitely recommend.

Great spot for large group

The house is very well maintained, as is the exterior of the house. There was plenty of room for all 11 of us, and the house has some great character! Everything was as advertised. The host was exceptional and very accommodating. A family member was coincidentally staying at another property owned by the host that same weekend, and had similar excellent things to say. I will definitely reach out to the host again when traveling back to Detroit. Bonus, the property is right on the Detroit Golf Club!

Ideal Property for Family

This is a quaint older, established mansion in an historic area of Palmer Woods in north west Detroit. This home was equipped with all the essentials of modern living with a touch of the past. Located on the backside of the Detroit golf course, this is ideal for our family gathering and celebration of life.

Great historic mansion!

My family loved this property for Christmas! It’s beautifully renovated downstairs and has a massive living room with a cute smaller living room off to the side! Christy was sooo responsive with all the questions I had! I put four stars for the location only because to the right of the house is a retry tough area, but to the left side is beautiful and has the huge Palmer park! The house itself is very safe and on the golf course.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a wonderful stay at this historic renovated home in the Palmer Park district. The old, grand design was fund to experience in this beautiful old neighborhood. The home was our base from which we easily got into (and out of) the city for the Thanksgiving Day parade and the Lions game. We just enjoyed the quiet relaxing vibe on Friday and then headed to Ann Arbor for more football on Saturday. We also found easy access to nice restaurants — like Buddy’s, home of the original Detroit style pizza. The kitchen served us well as we ordered in from a local restaurant for our T’giving day dinner as well. I believe the owner is still improving the property, so it should only become more grand in the months and years ahead. Christy was also very attentive and responses to the couple things we needed help with. Thanks Christy.

Exquisite Stay

I booked this home for a college reunion with my sorority sisters and it was perfect! The home has large rooms and ample space for 10 adults, From the comfortable beds, nice bed linens and soft bath towels- we had everything we needed! Staying in this home with a large group of friends was a true luxury. The house is even more beautiful than the photos indicate- we enjoyed the impressive wine room, the large bedrooms, the professional grade kitchen and the beautifully appointed baths…. this home is a true gem. It even has a gym with free weights and a private study- which came in handy for those who needed to attend online work meetings in private. The host and house manager were very responsive and timely in answering our questions and communicating with us. I would definitely recommend this home for large families or friend groups who want to gather in a charming setting.

Stay review

Drop this house in any other neighborhood and it is a great option for groups. The contact was easy to deal with and very responsive. The house had very cool decor and the actual road it’s on looks like it is a good block. it’s just the surrounding area is a little unsettling. All and all it was a pretty good experience.

Birthday weekend

Family gathering in Detroit (10 guests)

Our family, including grandchildren, traveled from Phoenix to Detroit for a Family Reunion. The ten of us stayed at this property for 9 days. The house was set up great for the large group of us, with enough beds and several gathering areas for relaxation and meals. The kitchen was well-equipped and the Wifi worked very well. The opportunity to all gather in one place for breakfast and evening relaxation was a great improvement over getting several hotel rooms. One thing to note for prospective guests is that all the bedrooms are upstairs, so people with difficulty negotiating stairways, this could be a challenge. Overall, we were all very happy with all of the features of this property and had a great stay.

It was a surprise getaway weekend for my spouse and she was completely blown away by the house. It has a lot of character, very well kept, and enjoyed the surroundings were very quiet too. Great getaway place in the Detroit area for a weekend! The house is GRAND!

Family return for Tombstone Unveiling

Mansion looks good, great location for Detroit activities. Downstairs is fine, upstairs needs repairs. Doors do not close, no furniture upstairs, needs chairs, dressers, curtains that cover windows, just feels that no one thought about comfortable staying. Host was very responsive and sent over some luggage stands the next day when we asked, just surprised we needed to ask.

Oasis in the City

This property was the needed R+R me and my Family needed for the weekend. The property was immaculate. Our host also provided the upmost hospitality with things we may need already being in the home. This stay was very special - providing the needed peace during a difficult time for us gathering. The owner also responded to messages quick and I am thankful for her accommodating a last minute adjustment to the checkout.

Big enough for everyone

An excellent house for a large group, centrally located to explore the whole Detroit area. The bathrooms were small and were the typical Jack & Jill style so often seen in Michigan, but the bedrooms were all spacious, as were the living areas. The kitchen was large but not well stocked (no towels and not enough dishes for the number of people the house could hold) and oddly, no microwave. Sadly, the renovation work was poorly done - none of the doors would close securely due to layers upon layers of thick paint, and the windows leaked a lot of cold air. But the heating system was excellent (can't imagine the heating bills). It was nice to see many original details still in the home. Noise levels were low , so the early risers didn't bother the night owls and vise-versa. We did utilize the 'sevents quarters' which is quite cool due to no ducting to that part of the house. I personally loved it, but did have to go elsewhere in the house to bathe as it was a bit too chilly for tub bath. Some small things, but overall, it was a great stay for our large family and we had a wonderful time.

Home away from home

Our experience was really good. The house was nice and the host does an outstanding job communicating before after and during. As a host myself, I learned A few things from them as far as how to provide a great experience. The only thing we would have loved to see was a microwave.
