One could easily believe that they have not only found the best vacation rental that money can buy but also their own personal resort that is worth every penny!

Our Beautiful Lake Home is ready and waiting for you and your family to make the memories of a lifetime. Need more room for your family? You can also rent our cottage that is on the same property. Vrbo# 255129 and can have up to 24 guests. You will find so much to do that you won't ever want to leave! Come sit on the deck and enjoy the fresh breezes with an unobstructed & calming view of the lake. Hang out on our own personal sandy-beach, soak up the sun, or take a nap in the hammock. Watch all the boats and skiers and planes fly by and take in all the great Michigan wildlife that surrounds you. Watch your kids having a blast with all the beach toys or see them jump on the water trampoline while they are smiling ear to ear.

Fish from the dock where the fish come to you, or with the fishing boat and let the trolling motor bring you to the fish. Go on adventures with the 8 kayaks, 3 stand up paddle boards, or state of the art stepper board or even the huge swan peddle boat! In the evenings, build a fire in the fire-pit or have a cookout on the patio. Rain? No problem! The covered patio on lower deck will keep you dry, watch the rain if you want. We have board games, game rooms, a sauna, a tanning bed, a workout area, televisions in every room, and fast internet! Need a nap? Wrap yourself up in 100% Egyptian cotton bedding and wake up still in paradise. Hungry? Why leave! We have two full kitchens, two natural gas grills, and grocery stores nearby. If you really must get out of the house, you are within 10 minutes of quaint downtown Grand Haven (Coast Guard City USA!) which offers a wide variety of shopping needs & wants, parks, sights, and eateries. Check out the world largest musical fountain and all the historic buildings or take a stroll down the pier and enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Michigan.

We do our best to make sure that you have everything you could possibly need for your vacation. All you need to bring is a few toiletries, clothing and then take a trip or two to the grocery store. We have bikes, bike helmets, and strollers. We have yard games, natural gas grills, wood for the fire-pit, and coolers for the beach. There is a large yard, patio, and deck with enough space for the entire family outside. The sleeping arrangements will also be comfortable and spacious on the inside. We trust that your stay will be an absolute pleasure and we challenge you to try and find anything we have missed!

Christmas House

Second time back and not disappointed in the amenities. Plenty of things to do for the grandkids and we had great fun playing games, watching movies and many wonderful meals. Would recommend to large families.

Fantastic Family Getawa

Our family (16 people--ranging in age from 1-70) had a simply wonderful time at the Slice of Life Master House! It was a child's paradise--the private beach, the paddle boats, paddle boards, fishing poles and the kayaks--it was non stop fun. There are life jackets for everyone and for every size, ensuring the safety of all. When kids are happy, parents are happy!! It was relaxing for the parents because when they were not in the water or on the equipment themselves, they could sit back and relax while still easily keeping an eye on the young ones. There were plenty of sand toys and the fire pit was ideal for making s'mores. The inside entertainment was perfect for evenings. The smaller lake was lovely and inviting. It was a peaceful setting that made for a fantastic family get away and we all left with happy memories!

Perfect for a big family!

We had 9 adults & 7 kids in our group and it worked out perfectly. The kids always had something to do which meant the adults had time to do the things they liked to do....like read & relax for a bit! Thank you so much such a wonderful getaway.

Don't miss the opportunity to rent this beautiful home

Wow. Is what you will say when you walk into the Slice of Life Master house. We were there for a long weekend and enjoyed every minute. We never heard, "I'm bored or "there's nothing to do". Everything is how it is described and more. So much room. Murray was very nice and only a phone call away. We even had a photographer come and do family pictures using the beautiful scenery and landscaping . A long weekend was not enough. We would recommend this to anyone, those with children, teenagers and seniors. Our family ranged in ages 2- 65 with 2 being college age. Thank you Murray for having your house available to use.

Successful family reunion!

We had 21 people from 5 states and there was so much to do and so much space that we were thoroughly entertained and did not trip over each other. They have thought of everything here!

Family Reunion

More than enough room for our family of 8 adults and 7 kids. Plenty of activities with Jacuzzi, game room, double kitchen for snacks and meals, sauna and multiple TV's. Home was fresh, clean and up-to-date with all the conveniences. We whole heartedly recommend this property and we are planning our next return date!

Great Fall couples getaway!

Our five couples were supposed to go to Savannah but had to cancel - we made lemonade! This house is wonderful. It has great location, incredible amenities, and lots of space. We had plenty of room in a fully equipped kitchen for the chefs among us to cook; our "athletes' to work out, our wives to relax and laugh while the guys watched baseball, football and played golf. It is simply an outstanding place to get away.

Wonderful one stop shop!

This house has everything you need to adults and kids. We have stayed a lot of places and this one is at the top of list. We literally never left the house except to grocery shop because it kept 5 kids (ages 2-8) two sets of parents and two sets of grandparents fully entertained! The ability to walk to the water with out a lot of stairs was great for kids and grandmas!

Perfectly Perfect in every way!

For over a year we planned and looked forward to this vacation! There were 24 of us and let me just say that Murray, his crew(shout out to James) and A Slice of Life did not disappoint!! We rented both the cottage and the main house, and it was perfect. Everything we could want or need was there plus more. The age range was 75 down to 12 and everyone said this is the vacation and the place we will come back to hands down. Murray has thought of everything ( although Murray we were going to recommend a commercial Ice maker :) and the houses were immaculate! From a crab boil on the beach, yard games, bike rides, pontoon boat, paddle boards, kayaks and just a week of family time together, life does not get much better than at a Slice of Life! A lot of "built in" activities

We have been going for several years to the Slice of Life. There are a lot of "built in" entertainment, such as in the house for rainy days, on the water, and lawn type games as options, so if you do not want to go out you don't have to. There is also a lot to see if you choose to go out. My favorite is the family time, investing in memories and not needing to leave, it is very ample for providing what you may need or want to have a great family time and stay.

Great Family Fun and Memories

Thanks again Slice of Life team for a terrific vacation week. This is our 7th year at Slice of Life with our family of 10 (8 adults – 2 children under 10). We stayed at the main house. Everything is outstanding as usual – exceptionally clean, plenty of room, much to do in the house and in the yard / beach area. We also very much appreciate your responsiveness to our questions and asks. Our favorite things to do are: tubing with the pontoon boat, ghost stories around the campfire and (of course) our annual couples Beach Olympics (horseshoes, bean bag toss, basketball, shuffleboard plus 4 others). Winners get a trophy - losers do the dishes. Lots of laughs. For the first time, our 7 and 9 year old grandsons successfully conquered the paddleboard which was very fun to watch. See you next year!

Gorgeous and fully equipped!

We had a large group celebrating my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and we rented both the cottage and the master house. They were both wonderful and we loved having the gated entry so the kids could go back and forth between the two homes without having to worry about them. There was so much to do! The kids loved the paradise pad. We all enjoyed the ping pong and pool tables, kayaks, pontoon boat and the beach area. Both homes came with so many great amenities, lots of beach towels, grills, coffee makers and so many fun games. We all had a great time!

Terrific property and well accomodated

Very much enjoyed this home. A ping pong tournament was probably the highlight, but generally the facility was super clean, neat, organized and very well cared for--and they even found a priceless ring that was accidentally left under a bed during the final walk through. So many nice features, the sauna was a real treat and makes this stand out. The trip to Grand Haven was easy, stores, beach etc. Would stay there again. Thanks.

Wonderful family experience at the lake

Our family had a grate time at this place. The property is gated and well maintained. The house is spacious and clean. I wish we would stay longer to enjoy all the amenities this property has to offer including sauna, hot tub, pontoon boat, wave runners and many more. The options for entertainment were endless! What an AMAZING time!

Wow, what an experience! This was not your typical vacation home rental. Everything about this home surpassed our expectations. The home and yard were immaculate. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel like we were at home. The attention to detail was top notch, from the décor to the variety of extra entertainment available in the form of games, bikes and water activities. We had a total 4 families/generations come together and there was always something to do for everyone. Memories were made and I have a feeling we are going to become regulars at the Slice of Life. I will definitely recommend this home to friends and relatives.

Best family vacation ever!

We have a large family and wanted to treat them to a vacation where we would all be together and make memories. We have six grandchildren all under the age of six. We have taken them on many vacations, and have to say this was truly the best. The house is incredible, very clean, and decorated beautifully. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you can possibly imagine. ( spices, condiments, foil, coffee makers, paper towels, etc) We spent almost all our time outside at the beachfront. It was hard getting the grand kids and my own kids indoors. The pontoon, paddle boats, skedoos, etc, sure kept all of us entertained. Night time was spent around the enormous fire pit eating s'mores and pizzas. This trip was everything we could have imagined and more!! Thank you Murray and Hope for helping us make this such a memorable trip!

New years eve with friends

We were looking for a place where we and our friends could stay for News years Eve. We all have children ranging from ages 2-12. We didn't want a hotel because we all wanted to be together in one space. This house was perfect! First of all, the house is incredible! There were a few Christmas items that we "put out of reach" due to little children, but everything else was amazing! The games in the basement kept everyone busy (adults and children) and the hot tub was used many times throughout our stay. There were enough beds for all 18 of us and they were all quite comfortable. We obviously could not take part in any of the outdoor activities because of the weather, but we would love to come back here during the summer months. The house hosts are very nice and friendly. We can't wait to come back!

The good, bad, and the ugly

This is a beautiful piece of property that is well equipped both inside and outside. The problem is not the property, the problem is all the rules and regulations given to you in the one hour orientation session with the owners required of you upon arrival. There are notebooks with photos of every drawer and every room that shows you where to put everything when you are done with it. And we could have accepted all of that, if we were not made to feel as if we could not really live in this home without being judged or losing our deposit. Even when there was a freak storm one evening that caused damage to several things outside the house, we were made to feel that it was our fault--and that was after we took the time to pick things up and put things away that were blown over or away in the storm. We had two days without hot water when we first arrived, only two of the eight TV sets worked the entire week we were there, the bed pillows were like rocks, and the bed sheets had pills on them. We have stayed in many VRBO homes and have not had an experience like this one. Knowing that this is Murray and Hope's home, they may want to reconsider renting it out , as their rules and regulations seem to indicate that they are not comfortable having others in their home.

Outstanding Time with Family

My wife and I are new to Michigan and this was our first vacation here. The house is large and has EVERYTHING. We had 12 family members join us from the East Coast. They were amazed with Michigan. We used the Pontoon boat, jet skis and Kayaks on the lake. I enjoyed everything about this prpoerty and we have booked to come back again.

Good Family Times

We very much enjoy our stay at Slice of Life. We took our children and grandchildren for our 50th anniversary 3 years ago and have went each year since. We also have it booked again for the next 2 years. We love the many things there are to do there as well as the lovely spacious home. We also like to do our own cooking which the home is equipped for. The property is very clean and well kept. The owner is just a phone call away if we have any questions. We have recommended it to friends and 1 friend has booked it. We stay at the home the entire time. The day we leave we go the Morning Star restaurant.

Perfect getaway!

I can't overstate how great our weekend was. The house is elegant, spacious and comfortable. But we spent little time in the house because the outdoor areas, lake access, watercraft, and yard games are second to none. All parts of the property and the watercraft are in excellent condition. If you want to get away with friends and/or family, this place is perfect! I'm a lawyer in Beverly Hills now, but have close ties to the midwest. I have recommended this place to friends at work and to family in the midwest, equally. You can't help but have fun here. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Outstanding Vacation - Again!

I want to thank Murray and Hope for another outstanding experience during our Aug, 2012 family vacation. We have 6 adults and 2 young children, and this was our 3rd year in a row to the Slice of Life Estate. Why do we love coming here year after year? Bottom line – it is the high quality of the total experience. We stay in the master house. It is very spacious, very clean, plenty of space (and bathrooms) and allows us to all be together – yet spread out if we have to. Included in the stay are multiple toys and fun things to play with for every age – rain or shine. For example, we have great fun with our annual beach Olympics (horseshoes, bean bag toss, basketball shoot, relay race, Jet Ski race etc.). The losing couple has to clean all of the dinner dishes from our going home feast. Try it – lots of laughs. We enjoy the beach and water area - - especially that the grand kids can play in the sand all day right in the backyard. We love the fire pit for night time gathering. Our son-in-law ‘owns’ the fire building – which works for us. Plenty of wood is provided. When we seek out vacation settings, we are very picky concerning total quality. The Slice of Life Estate meets the mark with flying colors. We have never had any issues or problems. Murray and Hope bend over backwards to be responsive and timely to whatever we need. Great Place, Great People

My family and I, made up of 6 adults (ages 36 - 62) & 5 children (ages 5 - 17), have chosen to spend a week in the summer at Slice of Life Estate for our annual family vacation the past 3 years. We chose, and have continued to choose Murray's place for various reasons. The house is always neat, clean, and ready for us when we arrive at 4 PM 'move-in' day. The accomodations have worked very well for our 3 families under one roof - two kitchens, 4 bedrooms and 5 baths. But what is really appreciated by both children and adults alike is the 'toys' included...pontoon boat and jet skiies if you need them (we have our own personal watercraft), tubes, skiies, kayak, fishing boat, and who can forget Big Mable!!!...life jackets, fishing gear, paddle board, fire pit and fire wood...the list goes on! If you want it, just ask Murray - it's probably there! (Keeps the kids occupied and HAPPY...thus, happy adults!) And if there is something lacking, however small a detail, such as was the case with dish cloths this year, Hope and Murray are immediately on it, seeing to it any detail that will help with our vacation is provided. Because our family is growing, we ideally could use one more bedroom and bath, and therefore gave some thought to looking to locate elsewhere next year. After a brief family pow-wow we realized, with all that is provided, in accomodations, toys and service, we really had no desire to take our annual family vacation elsewhere! We will sleep on the provided air mattresses to make it work!! We are looking forward to our week in July of 2013!

We were looking forward to a relaxing vacation with our children and grandchildren. It turned out to be very disappointing. We have rented cottages for the past 16 years without any problem. 1)This cottage was unsafe for anyone disabled. My husband had a leg cast with no weight bearing. He had to stay on the main floor which had only one access door to the outside back driveway, none to the lake. It was very opposite of barrier free, he felt it was a fire trap for any disabled person. 2)The cottage was not child friendly. We had several grandchildren with us. There was too much glass and breakable items that needed to be put away when we arrived. There were seven broken marble tiles before we came because kitchen bar stools were so tipsy. The kitchen faucet was wobbly and leaked. The owner had his clothes and toiletries in the closet and bathroom. 3)The Seadoo was a huge problem. The owner gave a lengthy Seadoo lesson the first day. One adult family member came late, and when I called to ask if it was possible to review the rules with him also, the owner was rude on the phone and said he would have his assistant call me back because he was getting very angry--the exact words used were offensive. He charged $100 of our deposit for going over the rules again which we felt was unfair. The Seadoo was at least 15 years old, and according to the owner, had been submerged more than once in the past. So, when we accidentally tipped it over, the engine compartment was not sealed and it filled with water. We were charged a large part of our deposit for Seadoo repair plus an additional $200 for the owner and assistant for their time to come and watch it being repaired. He was accusatory toward us as if we were negligent in use of the Seadoo. We have rented Seadoos every summer for the past 10 years and a few times they have tipped, but they just right themselves and continue on without any problem. 4)The owner had a long list of rules that he said were because others abused his things in the past. He was around the property all week long, checking up with a complaining attitude about every little thing--his workers didn't show up, someone hooked up a tie rope improperly, firewood was taken from the wrong side of the pile, a car dripped a few drops of oil on his driveway. We were very disappointed with the owner's negative attitude toward conscientious people who were trying hard to follow all his pages of rules. We also did not expect to lose our deposit unfairly.

We enjoy waking up and seeing the lake, smelling the fresh air, relaxing on the beach, deck, or patio. Having a bonfire, making s'mores and memories with our kids, cousins, nieces and nephews! We are located in a peaceful & wonderful town with beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and shopping.
