Lake Amnicon is a beautiful, clear, sandy and warm inland lake. There is much to do in all seasons! For summer, there is boating, fishing, swimming and all water sports (a dock is included in the rental.) For Spring and Fall, enjoy the warming up and the changes in the foliage and the look of the lake. In winter there is snowmobiling, ATVing, ice fishing and more! Sunsets are beautiful year round!

Smells nasty when you first walk in, run down, dead mice, dead flies, animal fur and dirt everywhere, broken plumbing, sinking ceiling tiles, gutters full, water in the basement, dirty dishes, leftover containers under furniture and wrappers inside the bedrooms. We left and requested a refund as fast as we got there and packed up our things and found a different place to stay. Host does not communicate until at least one day later. Do not rent!!

Weekend getaway

Getting to the cabin was super easy and the check in process smooth. The cabin was generally clean (it’s an older cabin so there’s going to be some bugs and stuff). The cabin was decently stocked with things so we we didn’t run out of necessities. The location was good and close to places I wanted to go. Overall, a good weekend away!

Cozy place

Nice and clean. Cozy and quirky. Definitely would stay again if I was in the area. Location is perfect. Short drive to the bigger cities, nice small town store right nearby.

Weekend getaway

We really enjoyed our weekend stay at this cabin on the lake. It’s a cabin-cute and quaint-with everything you need ! It’s close to Duluth and there are a few bars/restaurants nearby for food and drinks. We’d love to come back in the summer!! Lisa was awesome and responded quickly to inquiries☺️

This was a great cozy place on the lake for our Anniversary getaway. Wonderful fall colors this weekend and the State Park near by was a nice morning hike.

Not recommended!

We booked 4 nights and left after the first night. The air conditioning was set at 71 and the temp in the house was 77, the air conditioning could not keep up. We thought we would open the windows when the evening air cooled, but most windows did not have screens or were painted shut. The pullout couch was so old the lower part of the mattress detached from the frame and flopped on the floor. It appeared clean but if you looked under or behind things there were dead bugs , dirt and even disposable shot glasses. The owner said she would refund the other three nights if we didn’t leave a bad review,all we got was excuse after excuse, no refund. There were several other problems but I hope you get the picture!

Modest accommodation

Host was great. Accommodations were modest; fairly clean and comfortable. Location was great and close to state park and Duluth.

We accomplished what we set out to do...relax!

My husband, father, and I (plus our two furry Shibas) stayed in this cozy lake house in mid-July 2022. It was unseasonably warm (in the 90s with humidity) so I had reached out Lisa to inquire about the AC situation. One window AC unit, a portable AC unit, and one fan was provided but I decided to bring additional fans...glad I did! I would suggest to bring additional fans depending on the weather and your comfort. The lake house had everything we needed for our brief get-a-way. My father particularly liked the fire pit as we cooked much of our meals on this as well as the gas grill. The only hiccup was getting the correct access code but Lisa was prompt responding to me to get the correct one. Overall, we had a very relaxing time and loved the tranquil ambiance of this lake house. Hope to return in the future for a longer period of time! Guerrero Family

Disgusting smell, sharp objects in yard, dishonest host

I wanted to take my family on our first vacation and the listing had amazing reviews, kid friendly, appears to be lake front. We arrived to a cabin not on lake side but across the road. The first thing we noticed was a pitchfork laying right on the walking path to the entrance. In the yard where kids can play we're multiple sharp metal stakes right by the firepit, a chainsaw and rickety stairs. Upon entering the property, the smell of mold and mildew was overwhelming. My children were unable to sleep due to stuffed up noses from said smell. The place was not clean; crumbs on the countertops, hair in the bathtub, dirty dishes placed back as "cleaned". Under the sink was Draino with no cap on it and many other cleaning products easily accessible in this kid friendly place. I'm not sure why to even have cleaning products if not being used. If you like to be woken up by the sun, or to have the sun shine directly in your face while trying to watch the 2 local channels, because the WiFi is horrible and streaming is impossible, there are no blinds or curtains to close. We stayed one night, arrived at 5 pm, left at 8 am. I contacted the host later that day when I was able to get service on my phone. She said she was willing to refund our money in full due to the misleading description and disgusting smell and overall horrible experience. We were refunded ¾ of the price we paid and were told she would pay the rest if VRBO did not refund the rest. VRBO already refunded immediately and Lisa insisted we wait 7-9 business days to see if VRBO would refund the rest and now all of the sudden I can no longer contact her through the app. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not book this place, it is all around horrible and disgusting and the owner is a dishonest liar.

Nice place, poor cleaning

Lisa has been a very kind and attentive person throughout the process. Her communication with her has been excellent, she always answered my messages almost immediately. The property is as seen in the photos, rustic and with a vintage touch (very typical of a cabin). The place is half an hour from Duluth, which is where I was touring with my parents and husband, so it was perfect. There is a place to park the vehicle and access to the cabin was easy. Once inside, we had different kitchen supplies and utensils at our disposal, and a welcome basket that we thought was a nice touch. However the internet service is poor and the tv has no connection so I would suggest they change their internet provider or offer a varied selection of DVDs. Anyway, that was not a big deal because we went to connect with nature. As a matter of fact, it would have been an almost perfect experience, had it not been that the house was very dirty. I'm sorry to say, but I was very disappointed to walk into the bathroom to find hair in the shower, stains, and a very very dirty toilet. Before going, I let the owner know that we wanted to use the grill; and again, the outdoor kitchen was full of dust, cobwebs, the dumpster still had residue and smelled bad. Sofa covers had pet hair and holes...Please make sure you hire a good housekeeper and check that the place is clean before guests arrive. Thank you for lending us your property Lisa, I hope you take my criticism constructively and don't take it the wrong way. We wish the best for you!

Good stay

We had a good time while we were there. Had a campfire, played games with family, dog liked the area, saw wildlife. Overall not too bad.

Lovely!

We had a wonderful time here! It was decorated so cute and there were games for kids to play. We brought our own games this trip, but easily could have left them at home! The host was very communicative and kind. Wonderful family getaway!

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The sunroom was cozy and the view of the lake was beautiful. Lisa was so responsive and helpful. I want to come back in the summer time!

Amazing

My daughters 14 & 16, and I came from Manitoba Canada to meet up with my son and his girlfriend who go to university in Michigan. We decided to meet in Duluth and spend a couple nights there before heading to Michigan for the rest of our visit. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived. This little cabin was further from Duluth than I thought but it was still amazing. Lisa was great. She answered all my questions promptly. It snowed while we were there and someone was there first thing in the morning to plow the driveway so it didn’t interfere with our day. Duluth had shut down for most of one day due to a storm so it stopped us from doing sone of the things we wanted to do. Lisa was gracious enough to let us stay as late as we wanted our last day so we could do some of the things we missed out on. Everything was clean, there was freshly ground coffee ready for our use, there were board games, a complimentary basket full of sooo many great things, the view was really nice even though it was winter and the lake was frozen over, it was a nice quiet spot. I’m sure it’s even more amazing in the summer. I would definitely stay here again and I will most definitely tell anyone who’s headed that way to stay here as well.
