Outdoor Adventure Near University-Kid Friendly

This 14-acre farm is perfect for relaxing after a long day of adventure. It’s a one-minute drive to Stroud’s Run State Park where there’s miles of bike trails, and a 10 minute scenic drive to Ohio University. If you’re looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country, this is the place for you. You might see turkeys, deer, rabbits, or foxes. You’ll definitely see birds. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment was constructed in 2021 and features a modern kitchen with a comfortable living area. It’s the downstairs apartment of a duplex, and the upstairs tenant is quiet. The master bedroom features a plush king-sized bed, and the second bedroom has a twin-over-full bunk bed. We’ve made it kid-friendly so there toys, books, childproof outlets, a travel crib, and high chair also.

We live in the blue farmhouse at the end of the driveway, so you might see us working on projects around the property. We enjoy hosting and meeting our guests, but we'll leave you alone unless you want to say hello.

Feel free to explore the grounds, stroll up and down the driveway, or hike to the Scatter Ridge connector trail, which leads to Stroud’s Run State Park and the playgrounds, beach, boat launch, and trail system. Please refrain from wandering into our private woods, as construction on the trail is incomplete at the moment.

Convenient for a short stay

Great apartment back from the road. It was perfect as a base for visiting family in town with the quiet and calm of the country.

Quaint cabin in the woods

We had a great time at hOUmecoming and this place was perfect. Cute, rustic, secluded and Lyft come there! We nicknamed the very friendly cat, Jerry. Overall great experience.

We love that you renamed our cat Jerry. That's my dad's name. Though she doesn't respond to her name Emma, we keep trying. Maybe we'll have better luck calling her Jerry. =)

Cozy escape from campus!

My husband and I are OU alumni. We came to Athens to visit my brother-in-law in his senior year. I always loved spending time at Strouds when I was in school and it was so fun to stay at this oasis right off the hiking trails. Wish we would’ve had more time to explore the outdoors, but we were mostly on campus, which was an easy and beautiful drive! We will definitely be back to this home next time we visit. It was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend.

It is quite a way away from town, but if the park is your biggest attraction then it’s not bad. Very clean, bed was comfortable. Rooms were comfortable, open concept worked well. Did get to hear coyotes and saw deer several times in the yard. Upstairs renter had a heavy foot, heard every move he made but he wasn’t there the whole time we were. Bring or buy before you get there everything you would want to cook. There are plates, pans and utensils. Not even salt and pepper. If I was going to be a hermit and wanted to have a quiet place to relax this could be perfect, if upstairs wasn’t rented.

Quaint private apartment

We enjoyed our private getaway on 14 acres in Athens! Recently renovated with everything needed for a weekend. The owner was conscious of responding immediately if needed. We would definitely stay here in the future!

We are a busy family of four with two active kids. We bought this 14 acre farm in 2019, and renovations haven't stopped since. We love Southeast Ohio because of the scenery, hiking and outdoor recreation, and especially Athens because of all the amazing local food options available.

This property is the perfect distance outside of Athens - enough to stargaze but close enough that a Lyft or Uber ride home is available, along with high-speed internet. Athens is such a fun place to be! There is so much to do here every weekend thanks to all the wonderful people who call Athens County home.

Hike to the lake or playground at the campground, or drive there in less than a minute. Run or bike around the lake. Take the trails all the way to Athens and back - the sky is the limit! There are miles and miles of hiking and biking trails to choose from. After a long day of outdoor recreation, or visiting with your OU student after a night Uptown, relax in a comfortable apartment space to call your own.

Also, the apartment is child friendly! We know what it's like traveling with kids, so we try to make it easier on parents by supplying the things you need to make your family trip a success. We have a high chair, pack n play, childproof electric outlet covers, and child locks.
