Practical Notes

Guest have access to entire house except garage.

Lake Access: The private lakefront parcel — with dock, cabana, swim mat, and kayaks — is just across the street from the house. It’s about a 20-step walk through a stone archway down to the water.

Road Crossing: Guests must cross a two-lane road to access the lake parcel. While not a highway, cars can move quickly, especially on weekends. Please use extra caution and closely supervise children and pets during crossings.

Mobility Considerations: The first-floor master suite with ensuite bath offers a step-free stay for guests with limited mobility.

The yard has a natural slope and stone steps leading to outdoor spaces and the lake area.

The house and property were beautiful! It was well appointed and supplied all necessities plus. The cabana and the extras like floating devices were great to have. We swam in the water and used the canoes. The basement was LOADED with fun games that everyone participated in. They even had a kids area, including toys for infants!! Communications with the host were very responsive. We had zero issues and enjoyed our stay here. We highly recommend this property!!!

Perfect Multi-Family Getaway!

The house and hosts are absolutely incredible! Perfect for large groups or families. The basement adds a massive extra space for hangouts / activities / games without disrupting anyone asleep. House has everything you could want in a lake rental. The private lake area is great being in a cove, only downside of this property is the walk from the house to the steep steps going down to the water which would be tough for olde generations.

Lakeside Weekend

Beautiful house & great location!

We loved this house! Everything was exactly as described and our family enjoyed our time here. Having the dock across the street for our boat was so great! Elizabeth & John were quick to respond to any questions we had before checking in and provided a wonderful spot for our family vacation. We hope to be back again!

A beautiful home with a great lakefront environment

The Hosts were extremely nice and helpful in the entire process. They answered questions and helped me understand the offering so I could book with confidence, The home is spacious and welcoming in design. Generous spaces throughout including a very nice kitchen and a basement gameroom that was very enjoyable. Amazing Weekend

The house was perfect for our family - with 5 kids ranging from 6-12 they were entertained all weekend between the lake and the basement activities. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable. John and Elizabeth were great to work with!

Great property, would stay again.

We had a great time staying here. This house was perfect for our group, with plenty of space for an even larger group. We had two couples and two teenagers. It was nice having two master suites, so each couple had a spacious bedroom with their own full bath. Each of the teenagers had their own bedroom upstairs, and a full bath to share. We easily could’ve had a few more people, especially if they were kids. The kitchen was set up well for cooking, we made multiple meals, and had some local friends of ours over. The grill worked great, and there were extra propane bottles if we’d have needed them, which was a nice touch. We also had a nice little fire in the fire pit at the lake. Though it was a bit chilly the week we stayed for really enjoying the lake, it was well set up for swimming, kayaking, or chilling by the lake. The hosts were very communicative and easy to deal with, and the house was exactly as described. Everyone in our group said they’d stay there again, and recommend to others.

Beautiful Home, Great Location

We were excited about this home based on the pictures and found it to be even better in person. Every room was fresh and clean, the house was well stocked with everything we needed, and the lakefront property and cabana kept us occupied all day. Conveniently located with grocery stores and shops nearby. The house is spacious enough to hold a large group very comfortably. I highly recommend this property and would stay again.

Great Family Stay on Candlewood Lake

Our family of 10 had a lovely time at this beautiful lake house. The house is comfortable, spotless and equipped with everything we needed. Lots of indoor and outdoor space and the play room in the basement was a bonus. Our hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They were quick to respond to any questions we had. The lake area with the dock and cabana was our favorite spot to hang out. We rented a pontoon boat on two days, and all enjoyed exploring the lake. This was a great vacation’s for all of us—we’d love to return sometime soon!and we hope to return soon.

Great fun on the lake!

This house is large and can accommodate groups of all sizes. It is super dog-friendly which is great when traveling with pets. The house is equipped with everything you need, including two kayaks which we really enjoyed. The house is located across the street from the lake but the private dock was awesome for jumping into the lake and enjoying a glass of wine at sunset.

Fun weekend

We had a wonderful time at the house with our friends. The house is very clean and both the master bedroom mattress on the first floor and the second floor are super comfortable . We didn’t use the other rooms. It has a great view of the lake.

Wonderful property

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the this beautiful property. The outdoor space was very well maintained and allowed us to be outside, playing games even though the temperature never hit 60! The sun exposure was perfect. We imagine the summer and fall allows for using all the waterfront toys. We were able to go for a lovely walk to the state park and see that there are many hikes found locally. . We loved having an evening of games with pool, ping pong, Pac-Man and wii! It was the perfect space to have our Easter family gathering. Thank you for providing such a wonderful space for us to create such memorable family time!

Great Family Getaway

The house is tastefully decorated and has everything, and I mean everything you can think of. We had a family get together to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we had a great time. The grandkids spent a lot of time downstairs in the basement where they played ping pong and video games. The adults gathered upstairs to socialize and play board games. We could not take advantage of the outdoors because of the weather but it seems that there is plenty to do outdoors as well given that they have direct access to the lake. Overall I highly recommend it.

Adult family gathering

This house was amazing for my husband and I to meet up with our adult children and their partners. We hung out on the water during the day kayaking, boating, water skiing, knee boarding, body boarding and just floating around in the water or hanging out in the dock. At night we played outdoor and indoor games or hung out in the game room. We were disappointed that the elephant flea market down the road was closed that weekend due to rain but it didn’t stop us from having fun at the house. Stores were within minutes for anything we needed as well as places to eat. Since it is close enough to us we are looking to go back.

6 adults + 6 children + boat = great time!

This was a perfect long weekend getaway for 3 families of 4. John and Elizabeth were extremely responsive from the time we first inquired, to checking in, to when we left. They answered all our questions as quickly and easily. Check in / check out was a breeze. Regarding the property, the house itself was comfortable for the 12 of us, but we were really only there at night for dinner and morning when we woke up. We spent the entirety of the days at the lake across the street. We enjoyed grilling and eating outside at the house on the patio. Kids spent the mornings and evenings playing in the game room in the basement, while we hung out in the kitchen. At the lake there's a nice grassy area by the water that's about 50%-70% shaded during the day depending on the sun's position, so you can easily cool off in the shade if you'd like, or you can sit in the sun on the grass or on the dock. Also there's a cabana with seating, fans, electricity if you have infants or napping kids. The kids and 1 adult:) spent almost all of their time in the water or fishing. The water was gorgeous, (70+ degrees for end of May). Bottom had some rocks but was mostly sandy. For reference, water visibility was much better than Greenwood Lake (NY/NJ) and Sacandaga (NY), but not quite as good as Lake George, but super clean. The dock was great for hanging out, fishing, and held my 21' i/o perfectly. We would definitely book again! Thank you, EJ!

Nice lake house for a family gathering

This is a lovely house for a group gathering - it is definitely a house made for short term rental - I doubt anyone has actually lived there long-term. But that is OK, because we were only there for a long weekend. The kitchen and living room are connected, and there is a separate game room space in the basement with ping pong, pool, and a Pacman machine. The dining room was spacious and could easily seat our party of 7 (could seat 8 comfortably and probably up to 10 if you were squeezing). It was a fun place to get together with family over Christmas, and the two dogs in our group also enjoyed it. It was VERY cold outside during our weekend there (think 5-15 degrees F), and the heating in the house seemed very asymmetric. For example, the master suite on the first floor was REALLY warm while the queen bedroom upstairs was REALLY cold despite having both thermostats set to 68F. I know that central heat is only meant to keep indoors like 30-40 degrees warmer than the outside... but just be aware if you're visiting in the colder months. The house is also on the newer side, and I don't think it is particularly well insulated in general. There is a cool pellet stove in the living room that kept that room a very nice temperature during the day, which was a cool feature of the house - we kept that lit when we were all in the living room during the day. The owners also keep a supply of nice big blankets in the laundry room, which we definitely took advantage of! Because it was so cold, we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor spaces of the house or the lake cabana... but we checked them out and they certainly looked like they would be a great plus in the warmer months. The owners leave a nice basket of snacks for you when you arrive, which was much appreciated and a very thoughtful touch during the holidays. My only real objection is that the lockbox didn't start working with the provided code until about 10 minutes after our agreed upon check-in time, and it was very cold outside so that was unfortunate! Otherwise, it was a very smooth experience and we would stay there again.
