This flat has two bedrooms with queen size beds and a large office with a near queen size pull-out sofa bed. It is located on the second floor of a three-level house built in 1857, just 15 mins walk to the Halifax Waterfront. Located in a heritage area, two blocks from Citadel Hill and Halifax Commons. A diverse, artistic and friendly urban residential neighbourhood in the center of Halifax. The apartment is very warm and bright features high quality queen sized mattresses in each bedroom, well equipped kitchen and deck with BBQ. Kitchen basics provided.

The three story wooden house was built in 1857 in the first "suburb" of Halifax, just beside the reason for Halifax's existence, the Halifax Citadel. The apartment covers the whole second floor. The living room and kitchen are open concept with large windows and a deck off the living room. Each bedroom features a high quality queen size mattress. The kitchen is well equipped with basics of coffee and tea provided. We don't have cable TV but we provide access to Netflix on the large screen in the living room and Wifi. We provide towels, soap and shampoo.

Front door entry is shared with the two other floors (first and third). There are quite a few steps leading up to the second floor entrance. The second floor is exclusively for the guests use.

I live in the apartment below this apartment and I am more than happy to answer questions and provide my guests with information about what makes Halifax and the Maritime Provinces a fun and rewarding place to visit. At the same time, I tend to give my guests their privacy, but count on me to answer any questions you have quickly and effectively.

This is a heritage controlled neighbourhood in the trendy North End, which has many fitness resources (outdoor roller/ice skating oval, skateboard park, tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool on the Halifax Commons, Olympic size swimming pool at the Citadel Pool and bouldering cafe on Gottingen). For ideas of what to during your visit The Coast is an online and free news paper with lots of details and suggestions about what is happening in Halifax. There are several good restaurants and pubs, craft breweries, an artisanal delicatessen, very good bakery and many artist run gallery's and shops within walking distance. And nothing in downtown Halifax is more then a comfortable walk away (with keeping in mind we are on a hill) so the list of things to do includes ocean kayaking, Sea Doo and deep sea fishing, whale watching and and many varieties of sailing cruises on the Halifax Waterfront including the amphibious Halifax Hopper cruise and road tour, theatre, live music, pubbing and clubbing in the downtown and lots of shops and restaurants catering to a wide range of interests and tastes.

The train/bus station is a 25 minute walk away but there are several city bus lines passing on Gottingen Street (a couple minutes walk away) and the airport bus stops at nearby hotels (~10 minute walk). Casino Taxi and Yellow Cab are usually very quick to pick you up from the house to get where you need to go. We are located 40 mins from the airport.

We do not provide parking and the on-street parking in the neighbourhood is controlled and rather strictly enforced. Please note that there are quite a few steps leading up to the second floor, which may not be ideal for those with mobility issues or young children.

Everything was as described, communication was prompt and there lots of little extras, including coffee in case you don't have time to shop on your arrival day :)

Great Stay

This property met all of our expectations, jude a 30 minute walk to Downtown/Harbour front and Dalhousie. Coffee lovers, be sure to stop by Ramblers Coffeeshop around the corner!

What a great location!

We used this as a base for a few day trips around Nova Scotia mainly, with one day trip to NB. The property is older, but clean, solid and well kept. 2 kids each had a room to themselves, and we had a comfortable master BR at the opposite end. Nice quiet back balcony deck with a BBQ which came in handy. Kitchen was not lacking any amenities at all. We ate in comfortably a few times. Location-wise there is much to walk to. Walk to the Citadel and catch the harbour ocean view, sunrise and sunset. Very popular little bakeries and coffee shops that open at 7:30 AM ( I'm an early riser and really appreciated the kitchen coffee maker). We walked walked to the waterfront, as mentioned down the hill. Walk back up was harder - powered by oysters and wine! We really enjoyed this location. We will be back!

Great Location

Located on a quiet street, no parking, just down the street from the Citadel. Contained all the required amenities. Building is a bit wonky, with noticeable dips in the flooring; not an issue for us but may be for others. Place was reasonably clean. I would recommend this place to others.

Cute Place

Cute place to call home for a few days. A great neighbourhood with nice restaurants around the corner, and easy walk to downtown. Street parking signage was a little tricky, but there are some cheap day rates nearby.
