Christmas in Trout Valley

This our fourth stay at the Quonset Hut and we enjoy the peace and quiet in a lovely neighbourhood. Our stays have been enjoyable and hassle free.

Relaxing Retreat

Place was as described. Very comfy and clean. Neighborhood is great. Only issue we had was not receiving our check in instructions and it taking a while to get the code for the door after we arrived.

Quiet and Serene

This is our second time staying here and we love it. The ability to walk around in the beauty of this community is what we enjoy the most. The owner is phenomenal and kind. Would stay again when in the Chicago area the next time.

Charming cottage

Host was incredibly accommodating and friendly. Awesome property with interesting history- my son loved watching the horses across the road. Perfect location near trails, restaurants, and shopping!

Quiet and Full of Nature

We enjoyed our time at this property. The Quonset Home was nice, clean and relaxing. We enjoyed walking the area that included a trail and animals. The owners were very kind and communicated well. If ever staying in the area again, we would definitely stay here.

Lovely Quonset Hut

Love the quiet neighborhood with trails and horses across the street. Love the farmhouse kitchen sink. Has everything we needed with stackable washer dryer.

Trifecta

The Quonset hut was awesome. It has a beautiful setting that includes horses and wonderful hosts. The hut is beautifully appointed, with lots attention to detail. You will not want for anything at the hut, save more time. It is very spacious and looks toward a historical barn. It has many walking areas to enjoy. The hosts were gracious in their communications. This is an excellent property.

Quonset Hut Gem

This charming accommodation is so lovely and very relaxing. It is charming with the right touch of elegance in the interior appointments. You feel as though you are living in a private forest yet all the necessities for an enjoyable trip are within 5-10 minutes. Trout Valley has a very engaging and interesting history. Be sure to read the books provided by the Host who makes sure you are properly settled in for making your stay the best it can be. We will definitely return.

Incredible Experience

This property was awesome! It was very clean (and I’m a bit of a stickler), well-appointed, and in a lovely setting. The host was very communicative, which was reassuring. My trip was really to just unwind for a few days and I was really able to do so here. It was also still convenient enough location-wise for me to pop into the city for a quick day trip. I will look to stay at this property again and highly it recommend it to others.

Great location

Quiet, beautiful area. Close to everything. I used to live in Cary. After moving, came “home” to visit and this was the perfect place. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I thought the Quonset was located further away from the main house. Also, the TV is Roku which I don’t use. All in all, those are minor. Would definitely return!

A historical find

I cant do this justice. My stay at this little quonset couldnt have been more perfect. I was attending a wedding in the area and wanted to make the trip relaxing. This quonset in Trout Valley couldnt have been more perfect for me. Bruce, the owner was extremely accommodating and was spot on about paddle boarding at Three Oaks when asked. Trout Valley has so much history behind it. Take a few moments to read up on the land this quonset located on, its impressive, to say the least. Many historical structures still stand today throughout this beautiful community. I would love to become a regular visitor of Trout Valley.

Family Visit

We were coming to the area to visit family for a reunion and wanted a separate space with laundry and a kitchen to stay since we had our 9 month old with us. This place was perfect! It is super homey with everything we needed. The property was gorgeous there were not side walks but since it's a golf cart/ horse community this was not problem. We walked around the whole community several times on our stay, were able to walk some of the trails by the trout ponds and watch the boats on the river. Bruce was also very attentive to any questions we had or anything we needed. He even checked in before to make sure we had a pack in play for the baby since the location did not offer one. This location while being quiet and woodsy is so close to the amenities. The grocery store was less than 10 minutes away and we were able to get pizza delivered one night which was great. Thank you Bruce for sharing your quonset hut with our family!

Picturesque and private

This private cottage is nestled in a very pretty wooded area with horses and hiking trails. It was a perfect weekend getaway. Our hosts had everything in tip-top shape and ready for us. It truly is set up as a home, and we loved having a full kitchen and outdoor deck.

Great little home-base

We enjoyed our stay and had just the right amount of everything to use this as our home-base while we visited friends and family across the area. My favorite time was always first thing in the morning where I could enjoy a cup of coffee sitting on the front deck overlooking the horse property. Just such a beautiful and relaxing setting!

This is an adorable, comfortable, clean and safe Quonset hut on a larger property. It is private and cozy, in a lovely neighborhood. I have family in the area so this is a perfect location for me. I can see renting it every time I visit!

Beautiful home

Thank you so much for having us, it was my birthday and me and my husband got some much needed relaxation time in such a beautiful place with some many beautiful things surrounding us and so many good places to eat so close by grocery stores gas stations places to shop anything thing you need honestly within 13 minute drive. We purchased this property in 2014 and have fully rebuilt & renovated this original 1890's farmhouse. The Quonset was placed in the 1950's and we fully renovated it in 2017. We lived in the Quonset hut during the renovation of the main home until this past year.

When you drive into Trout Valley, you will feel like you have escaped to paradise. Unlike any community in the area you will experience rolling equestrian countryside. Trout ponds and streams, Tom Saywer pond, hiking trails and private roads that ramble down to the former Polo field and Fox River front park

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Trout Valley was the home of John Hertz (Hertz Car Rental Founder) back in the 1920's.
This area was his private estate until 1950. At that time the Otto Scherring family(Curtis Candy Founder) purchased this estate and made it the home of his private farm used for growing livestock & produce they used for his candy making. In the 1960's Scherring sold the property to a developer who built out the remaining homes that you will find in the Valley. We love calling Trout Valley our home.
