The Red Dog Cottage In The Woods w/ Hot Tub

Park in our private pull thru parking area and walk over the beautiful covered lighted walking bridge that leads you to the cottage. We wanted to create a place for our guest to enjoy; relax & feel at home. A queen size downstairs bedroom; queen size upstairs loft bedroom; full size kitchen; dining area; full bath with walk in shower; TV/WIFI; wraparound covered porch; private outdoor shower against hillside; private hillside two person hot tub with covered roof; indoor loft hammock; outdoor covered back porch dining area; outdoor hammock. Enjoy the large 12x12 outdoor hammock in the front yard area and build a fire in the large outdoor firepit area.

If you are going to enjoy riding the trails, you are half mile from the Buffalo Mountain trailhead location and 4 miles from downtown Williamson for dinner. Within those 4 miles, there are 3 other trail numbers you will pass and another in town.

You are 15 minutes away from the historic Matewan, WV where the famous Hatfield McCoy feud took place. There is a Hatfield McCoy museum in town as well. While your there, enjoy the airboat tour on the river which is amazing then grab lunch or dinner at Trailhead Bar & Grill.

We have enjoyed staying at this property, and the Red Dog Chalet, next door several times in the past. We always enjoy our stay and the thoughtful hospitality by the Cools. The Red Dog Cottage is our go to when visiting family in the area.

Great Property!

Amazing rental right by Hatfield McCoy trails. Will absolutely be staying here again. The cottage is immaculate and owners are very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.

The Red Dog Cottage was just as described and more!! The owners were great to work with and very hospitable!! They even gifted us with a cake and bottle of wine in celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary ❤️

A beautiful property very clost to the trailhead

This property was very conveniently located to the trailhead. The host went above and beyond to accommodate and assist us when we had issues with one UTV. We enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful retreat!

The Red Dog Cottage is second to none! It is more beautiful than the pics show! The owners are wonderful and provide the best hospitality. We had such a fun time riding trails and coming back to the cottage to relax and unwind! Highly recommend staying at the Red Dog Cottage!

Our stay at the Red Dog Cottage was the West Virginia getaway we were looking for! It was easy to access the Hatfield and McCoy trail system. Shawn and Tonya are lovely and their hospitality is remarkable. We plan to return in future!

My wife and I have been married since 2013. We purchased 2 acres of land to start building our home together. Working full time then building in the evenings.

Over the years, we have built our barn which you can see from the cottage. Our red golden retriever loves the barn which we use as our workshop so that's how Red Dog Barn got it name.

Last year, we wanted to create a place for people to enjoy and feel at home. We started in the late summer of 2021. We worked through the winter months to have the Red Dog Cottage ready for people to stay by Spring.

We hope everyone will love it as much as we do.

Every time we travel, my wife is always looking for a place that is different from anything else. This is how our cottage was created... We have built it and put our hearts into a place that we would love to stay at. Our indoor loft hammock; spiral staircase; private wooded outdoor shower area; wrap around covered porches; outdoor dining area; outdoor hammock is absolutely beautiful at night with the wooded area surrounding you and the rope lighting makes it perfect. Free WIFI with enough channels to keep you busy if you decide to stay in and just relax.

Going into this project, my wife said, we are going to build to place that I would want to stay in. We put our heart & soul into this chalet and our cottage. We want every guest to feel welcome and at home. Adding the covered lighted walking bridge over to the property.
