The home was beautiful!!! And it was right on the water. We loved fishing and crabbing on the dock. Lots of different kinds of fish in the water. Also tons of beach toys and floats available. Definitely would go back.

Great property for a family getaway. The location right on the bank of the Rappahannock River was perfect for our young children who were able to fish, kayak, and play in the sand without having to travel anywhere else. The host was excellent with her communication and quick to answer any questions. Highly recommend.

Our 4th summer vacation here for our 3-generation family is praise enough! We love that the spacious house and porch is directly on a pristine sandy beach where we can enjoy sand play, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and so much more. The kitchen is amply equipped for all our needs. It feels like "home" for our grandchildren after so many years and we treat it likewise, or even better, so others can relish it as much as we do. New nature spottings this year included "Oscar" the Otter, a huge crane that visited every morning, and a swooping eagle after prey -- in addition to ever-present crabs, various fish species, seagulls, osprey, and so much more. The well-provisioned and positioned house is a delightful respite because of its strategic location on the Rappahannock River river with its restive, restorative natural habitat.

Unbelievable. This has been the most relaxing vacation. My sister in law and I took our 5 children, ages 9,8,6,5 and 3 and there were tons of activities for each of them. We didn’t have to worry about anyone near the water. The house was spotless, I have OCD and couldn’t have been happier with the cleanliness and convenience of this property. We will be back!

Very enjoyable

Would definitely recommend for someone looking for relaxing time, private yet close to town for any shopping needs. Great for any age adults or children. Would stay here again!

Quiet Bliss on the River

The property was perfect for a long weekend getaway of relaxing for a birthday weekend. The dock and beach were a plus and the house was well appointed and comfortable. Being close to the town of Tappahannock was super convenient. We will definitely be back!!

Another wonderful and relaxing family getaway! We love this property, the views are incredible! Short trip from DC yet once you arrive, you feel like you're a million miles away from the city. Barbara is the best host I've ever encountered, always very responsive and provides timely updates and reminders. This is our 3rd year in a row and we'll certainly be back again next year!

Return to the river house

We came back after a lovely weekend last year and it was every bit as enjoyable. Great place for a family looking for a low key getaway with plenty to keep kids busy!

Great place!

The house was nicely kept and had everything we needed. Excellent location right on the water! Barbara was very responsive to any questions. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a stay on the Rappahannock.

Beautiful property and location!

We stayed for a week for a family reunion. Great place for young kids and adults alike. Lots of great amenities like the kayaks and paddle boards. The sandy beach was a hit with kids and the water was calm enough for them to enjoy as well. Dock was great for the fishermen for the family. Great place for relaxing.

Second stay

We enjoyed our second stay in this house. The owners are very responsive. The house is clean, quiet and comfortable plus it has a beautiful view. The kids loved splashing in the water and kayaking/paddle boarding. We hope to return soon!
