Scrimshaw IV is located on the oceanfront in Kill Devil Hills, just steps from the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. This comfortable, well-appointed condo makes a great spot for a gathering of family and/or friends. Enjoy the views and ocean breezes on the beach-side deck or make the very short hike down to the water itself, you really can't get much closer to the ocean. Scrimshaw condos are centrally located just north of the Wright Brothers Monument and virtually right across the beach road from popular Goombays restaurant. Many other local restaurants and popular attractions are close by.

The unit had everything that we required. Bed mattresses were very comfortable. No traffic noise. Huge deck porch with view to the beach. Nice location. Plan to stay here again next year.

Take note that this property is managed by a management company, which was not easy to contact. Several of our issues never got resolved. It’s a nice 3 bedroom condo, but: 1. There are bright emergency lights outside on the stairwells making use of the deck space unpleasant in the evenings. 2. The path to the beach is next to the property, and ideally needs stairs because you hike both up and down the dune. We weren’t sure at first even how to get to the beach. 3. There is no way to carry items like kayaks from the parking lot to the beach through this building because the gate is locked. We had to go next door and use their gate. The property is otherwise nice. The bar fridge was a nice convenient feature.

Hi Erika, Our company is listed under "About this host" and discussed at length in the "About this property" section of the listing. We are disappointed by your claim that we are not easy to contact, we have record of multiple immediate responses to you and your husband before and during your stay, by email and phone call. The "unresolved" issues were the result of you renting a condominium rather than a home. 1) Most guests appreciate the safety provided by the standard Harris light fixture installed in the common stairwell which is for use by tenants in 6 separate units. Lighting in condominium common areas is strictly mandated by law under multiple state and local regulations. 2) The path to the beach is not steep or hard to navigate and access is determined and maintained by the building manager. 3) The gate under the building is locked per building manager/HOA policy for guest and resident safety. While we regret that you were disappointed, your complaints all stem from the fact that you rented a unit in a multi-unit complex with numerous common areas which are controlled by a building manager and HOA policy rather than any one resident or guest. We hope that you will return soon and rent a single family home where you can have more control. -Cola Vaughan Realty

Great condo right on the ocean

This is a great second floor condo unit right on the beach. Great views of ocean from two private balcony/deck areas with seating. Comfortably sleeps 6. Clean and tidy with all kitchen provisions needed. Location is perfect, walking distance (or a short bike ride) from supermarket (Publix & Food Lion), movie theatre, mini golf, and some of the OBX’s best restaurants (Goombays, Awful Arthurs etc).

Great location

Very nice condo at the beach with great views from the deck. Quiet area but close to several nice restaurants.
