It is astounding that this place with a very significant and unsafe sulfur fumes issue continues to be open for rent. We were so nauseated and ill with allergic reactions, we felt the need to vacate promptly and seek out urgent care. The host fully refunded us and said they were fully aware of the issue as other guests had experienced it previously!

Mixed thoughts about our stay

Once you can find it, the place was spacious, clean with comfortable furniture and great kitchen supplies. The setting is beautiful. The challenges- It was extremely difficult to find because the directions were not clear. There were road closures which made it confusing. The navigation was telling me to go through a road that was blocked off with a security guard telling me I had to go all the way around the moutain. Then there was no reception so I could not call the owner/manager for directions, I had to drive back down the hill. I suggest you ask for pictures of the road it is on and a detailed map. Part of our group turned around to stay somewhere else because they came at night and couldn't find it even with my pictures and directions. So arrive during daylight hours. It is a large downstairs apartment. The floor is very thin in-between the upstairs and downstairs apartments so you can hear every footstep and noise the tenant upstairs makes.

Excellent stay

This is a beautiful place in a gorgeous setting away from the Main Street of Ojai but still close. Lots of hiking, biking and shopping.

This wonderful 1 bedroom guest house has a great kitchen, spacious counter for eating and visiting. Lots of sunlight beautiful trees surrounding, foothills and lots of water in creek right now. You can enjoy a stroll in the local neighborhood which is loosley connected with a winding road or checkout the Cozy Dell hike which is a moderate level hike with a wonderful small waterfall and view of the valley. Enjoy! Great spot for peace and quiet.

Driveway along dirt road had no lights and is extremely dark so our rear bumper was scraped up against the steep hill and driveway after taking a sharp turn bc the turn is hidden. The rain made the steep driveway more slippery and dangerous. Lights need to be added to the driveway and dirt road bc the turn is so sharp and steep. The floors were not cleaned bc I found debris, leaves, small pebbles, and little acorns. Dishes were left in dishwasher unwashed and dirty; utensils and plates found in drawers had dried food stains stuck to it; coffee mugs were dirty and stained. There was a foul odor throughout the entire weekend which smelled like dead rodent. We later found out that it was the septic tank issue. The heater did not work and windows had been left wide open causing a cold draft most likely to air out the disgusting odor. We got 2 space heaters the next day but the odor became unbearable in the late evening. We had to purchase candles and incense. When host brought the heaters, I think the door was left wide open and a frog was found upon our return; it took us a while to get the frog out of the unit. The shower fan vent does not work and drips brown water from the ceiling condensation from a hot shower. Bathtub is not properly cemented down so you can hear it creak as you're walking in the tub. The bottom of the tub was not cleaned properly bc there was a lot of dirt stains. Toilet seat is broken bc it moves when you sit. Long length mirror is needed to get dressed.
