This was one of the most relaxing and peaceful places I’ve stayed. I came for work and really appreciated the quiet and spacious apartment (it’s much bigger than in the photos!) with a lovely outside area overlooking the canyon. It’s convenient to downtown and you can walk to a gorgeous hiking trail. The hosts are very helpful and available, and I also enjoyed cooking in the well-stocked kitchen. Overall, an excellent high-quality stay, highly recommended.

Great place to stay. Very comfortable. The view of the canyon was very relaxing. I wish I had more time to sit out on those chairs and look at it.Check-in was perfect. No problems.Everything was very clean.. I will definitely try to stay up here next time I am in Los Alamos.Thank you.

My husband and I had a great experience. The host communicated a warm welcome and answered questions immediately. The space was perfect for us and could also have accommodated another couple. Everything was clean, neat, and comfortable. There was no oven (only a cooktop) so cooking was limited. But we were happy to explore some of the local restaurants. We would love to return!

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Bear. Very relaxing, I enjoyed going outside and sitting in the morning, drinking my tea and watching the eagles soar above the canyon. Very peaceful and relaxing. The rooms were very clean, well organized and they provided all the basics one needs to prepare basic meals. It is definitely a place we will return to when we go back to visit Los Alamos family. Very peaceful.

We had an amazing time at this property in Los Alamos! The home was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained — everything looked just like the pictures (if not better). The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking, and the beds were super comfortable after a long day exploring.The location was perfect — close to local restaurants, wineries, and hiking spots, yet peaceful and private. The host was friendly and responsive, providing clear instructions and thoughtful touches that made our stay feel special.We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Los Alamos. It’s the perfect combination of charm, comfort, and convenience!

Perfect Base Camp

Lovely place, exactly as it looks in the pictures. The host is easy to reach and always responded promptly. This place is the perfect location to be close to the trails of Santa Fe National Forest, you can even walk to some right from the apartment. The kitchen had everything I needed and the bed was very comfy.

Host clearly communicated how to get in and what to expect Accommodations were very clean and outfitted well. There was even water in the fridge and home made cake. It was a nice stay.

Casa Bear Getaway

Casa Bear is a cute lower level apartment with a fantastic view of the canyon and mountains around Los Alamos. It is clean and well supplied. Lighting in the apartment could be improved and although the furnishings are cute, they could be more comfortable.

Beautiful, comfortable, well stocked-great hosts!

My husband and I were visiting our son in Los Alamos and needed a place big enough for all 3 of us- this place was perfect! The kitchen was better stocked than any of our previous VRBO stays with a variety of spices, salt pepper, cooking supplies, etc. Veronika was very thoughtful to include shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lots of towels + little extras like sunscreen, first aid kit, lip balm, makeup remover. The big screen TV was preloaded with netflix, prime, etc and we enjoyed watching movies at night. Veronika even had a homemade treat waiting for us when we arrived. Check in was easy and checking out was easier (no stripping beds, etc). Kitchen was stocked w/ Kcups and little other treats even. LOVED THIS PLACE!

This bnb was excellent. I came for a wedding with my friend, and we stayed for two nights. They took the bedroom and I slept on the pullout bed in the livingroom. Both beds were very comfortable! The closet had plenty of hangers/space for our formal wear, and the bathroom was very clean and big enough for two people to get ready in. It also included toiletries and sunscreen, which was a very nice touch as I'd forgot mine. The kitchen was well stocked with all necessities for food prep and coffee/tea. Veronika was an excellent host, fast with all communication, and she welcomed us with a traditional Czech cake that was delicious. In the morning I enjoyed the coffee and cake on the patio overlooking the view, and can say 10/10 would stay here again.

Basement Apartment Hideaway

This rental is the basement of a split-level home. The owner lives on the upper level. The outward-facing side features two large windows looking out toward the fire pit and grill which sit on the edge of a small canyon. You access the apartment via a gravel walkway from a reserved parking spot adjacent to the owner’s driveway. The interior photos are accurate to the property and everything was clean and well-kept. Note that there is no oven or laundry. The neighborhood is about a ten-minute drive to the CBD (such as it is), but it is quiet and picturesque. We were in town to ski at Pajarito which was an easy twenty-minute drive. We ate at Pyramid Cafe, Ruby K’s Bagels, and Pajarito Brewpub and would highly recommend the former.

Great stay with a pretty view

We were very happy to stay here for four nights at the beginning of our spring break southwestern road trip. It was great to have the kitchen and all the living space, not just a cramped hotel room. The host was a fabulous communicator and was very helpful with a few special requests I had. The host and her family live on the top floor and this is kind of like a walkout basement apartment, but it felt like our own space, including our own outdoor space. The view over the canyon was lovely. Place was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom well stocked. We wished for a bigger couch or another comfy chair or two for when all three of us wanted to relax and watch TV at night, and we had internet connection issues a couple times, but those are minor quibbles. The place is a few minutes away from Los Alamos proper but we didn’t mind that at all. Just know that you’ll be driving to everything. There is a great playground in walking distance though.If we make it back to the area, we’d happily stay here again! Thanks to the host for a great stay.Other tips for future visitors - Pajarito restaurant was great. Smiths grocery was good, including for some non-grocery items. Nearby hike in Bandolier was great, and Tsakawi was sooo awesome. Kids science museum in town was meh. We wanted to try the history museum but didn’t make it. Fuller Lodge was OK but we did finally watch Oppenheimer during our stay, and pretty cool to see it in the movie, right aver touring it.
