Private home along Pojoaque Creek, perfect for Families, Reunions & Getaways!

Welcome to El Caracol. Designed by renowned architect Allen McNown and built by our parents, Ann and Wilfred Friedman, this mid-century adobe fusion home has been restored and ownership is now back in the family!

Life in the Pojoaque Valley moves at a much slower pace. Cell signals are spotty and Ubers are rare. What El Caracol lacks in frills it makes for in originality, style and beauty.

The space

PLEASE NOTE: THE POOL IS OPEN MAY -SEPTEMBER ONLY.

Dubbed El Caracol for its striking spiral shape, the architecture revolves around the spiral staircase at the heart of the home. Each of the adobe bricks were formed and laid by the Friedman family who lived + loved here for over forty years.

Downstairs is comprised of three private bedrooms (1 queen bed/room), two full bathrooms, a sunroom with (full) daybed, a spacious sunken living room plus fully stocked chef's kitchen, dining room + dedicated workspace.

Upstairs offers a king + queen bed with an additional full bath, library + private deck. The upstairs suite is a true loft with no door.

We provide three air mattresses with additional linens at no extra charge.

El Caracol is situated on just over two acres of land. The back courtyard boasts a 40' pool (depth ranges 3' to 10') and hot tub. There is no lifeguard on duty. The hot tub is always heated at no extra charge.

The game room is not insulated and is not suitable for sleeping in the cold months, but is a real treat the rest of the year! Foosball, darts, pool table + ping-pong are available for your enjoyment.

The rear property line of El Caracol is Nambe Creek (property of the Pojoaque Pueblo). Most days of the year the is a wonderful trickling stream perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Guest access
The entire home, game room + surrounding fenced acreage is available to you during your stay.

Cell signals in the Pojoaque Valley are notoriously spotty. We encourage guests to utilize wifi-enabled calling while at El Caracol.

Ubers in Pojoaque are few + far between. We recommend you have your own vehicle for getting around.

We loved our stay at this beautiful house! Diane was very quick to respond, and the house was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed.The space was perfect for accommodating our large group for the weekend, giving everyone in the family a comfortable place to sleep. It was so lovely getting to spend time together by the pool and soak up the last days of summer.This house is truly a gem of a property, with a real vintage charm that many newer places just don’t have. You can tell this home was built with so much love and you can feel it!We highly recommend this space to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable stay in Santa Fe.

The kids loved the pool and hot tub. The house is unique, beautiful, and in an ideal location for exploring the area. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The beds were a little uncomfortable for our preferences, and one of the bedrooms didn't cool as well as the rest of the house, but overall we had a great stay and enjoyed our time there.

Very clean, hosts were great with communication and details for the house. It was great location for hikes, golf, and restaurants nearby. Beautiful backdrop. Hot tub was a hit. Would highly recommend staying.

Our family of 8 adults and 5 kids found this location to be ideal for our vacation to the Santa Fe area. The house is lovely and very unique in design. The pool was clean and kept the kids happily occupied. We cooked most meals, finding everything we needed in the comfortable kitchen. We were there the end of May.

This unique home woeked well for our group of 9 adults. It had the homey feeling of visiting a long lost relative - very clean but an electic mix of dishes, sleeping spots, bedding, linens, etc. Very cozy vibes (but note you cannot use the indoor or outdoor fire places). The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking utensils & appliances, seasonings, coffee supplies, etc. The backyard & pool were phenomenal and well cared for. Plenty of space for our group of 9. Be mindful the shower heads are very short & immobile (a swap for a handled shower head might be helpful). Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Everything was better than expected. No problem communicating with owner.The pool was the star of our trip. Location was not too bad to downtown Santa Fe.We had 10 adults and 2 children and the amount of beds and size of rooms fit us perfectly. The only downside was that we did not get to see much of Santa Fe because the house was so accommodating. We spent a few days just hanging around the house instead of sight seeing.

Great host. Loved the property and everything on it. Game room was great, extra supplies on site were great, and such a unique property. Was our home base for a 16 person ski trip if a lifetime. We are already talking about coming back next year.
