Welcome to “The Riva!” The memories made in our family river home have been endless. The living room with 7 huge picture windows plus a sliding glass door overlooking the river makes the sunrises dreamy!! This home is perfect for families coming to relax, boat, fish, and sightsee with a quick free ferry ride(drive on) across to Jamestown or Williamsburg (BUSCH GARDENS!!). It runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It’s about 15 minutes to the FREE drive-on ferry, a 15-20 min ferry ride then once you dock it’s about 10 minutes to get to Busch Gardens. There is also a public beach just off the ferry for everyone to enjoy. We have no doubt your family memories will be endless as well!!

IF YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A FERRY: The Ferry is a FREE fun experience! You drive on with your car. Once the boat leaves the dock you can get out and walk around. Enjoy looking over the water, the birds, and all the river scenery. Then once the boat docks, you drive off and are in Williamsburg/Jamestown! There is also a restroom located on the ferry. Go experience it!!

Only a 2.5-hour drive to mountain resorts for skiing and snowboarding, such as Massanutten and Wintergreen.

The wrap-around deck with a picnic table, cornhole boards, fire pit with seating, gas grill, and additional chairs makes for great outdoor entertainment! Enjoy a cozy cup of coffee (provided) or a cocktail while sitting by the fire table and watching the sunset as the eagles fly over the river.

The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you could need to use to cook! 2 full-size refrigerators. (One in the kitchen one in the laundry room) Coffee and filters provided.

There are tons of games and puzzles in the closet if there’s a rainy day. Try our family favorite, Chicken Foot, with the Dominos!

This was never meant to be a rental so trust me there’s everything!

All linens are white, cozy, and freshly laundered including down comforters! AND INCLUDED at no additional cost!

Keyless entry makes checking in at any time seamless.

Please let me know at the time of booking if you will be bringing motorized toys so I can review the guidelines.

The private beach area is for lot owners only, but everyone can enjoy the river view from the wrap-around deck! Nice public boat ramp located approx 12 min from the house. Gorgeous public beach right at Jamestown! Pack up and enjoy the day!

The beach viewed from deck is private and for lot owners only.

Bachelorette party

We wanted to find somewhere relaxing to stay for the weekend. To celebrate our friend getting married. It was perfect the view was amazing house has enough space no one fort on top of each other. Really close to the ferry to take to Jamestown

Family getaway

Our trip was wonderful, and the rental home exceeded our expectations. It was a perfect fit for my large family, and everyone truly enjoyed their stay. The home was clean, well-stocked, and incredibly comfortable.We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches—upon arrival.The children also had a fantastic time riding the ferry—it was a highlight of the trip.The home was beautiful and we hope to return in the future!

Family vacation

This was the perfect house for our family vacation. The granddaughters loved the mermaid room with the 4 beds so they could all sleep the together. The beds were comfy, and the views were beautiful!

Secluded, peaceful cabin

We had a great time at the cabin. We really enjoyed the wraparound deck and full wall view of river from living and dining rooms downstairs. The binoculars and telescope were a nice addition to check out the view. Comfortable beds and linens. Ideal if you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway. We loved it.

Inviting property

Cozy, accommodating home. The house was a convenient distance from the ferry and allowed for a high amount of guests to stay. Plenty of entertainment for a relaxing stay.

Summer family trip

We had a nice time using this as home base while we went to Jamestown and Busch Gardens. It is a bit remote and by the end of the week the commute with the ferry was getting old. A nice, quiet place to stay for sure.

Fun spot by the river

We stayed here and visited Colonial Williamsburg. It was a reasonable distance away from what we wanted and had a big room to put all the kids in. It's in a quiet neighborhood away from it all.

Lovely visit

We very much enjoyed our stay at River House. The view of the James River was spectacular and the house was cozy and very comfortable. I loved riding the ferry over to Jamestown and Williamsburg, The hosts are first rate and very helpful. Loved sitting in the very comfortable living room and watching the eagles, osprey and other birds flying around the river. Great vacation place!

An ideal family vacation cabin.

This secluded hideaway cabin is obviously a home with years of accumulation of entertainment and home away from home necessities. Despite its age, it was incredibly clean. If vacationing in the Williamsburg area, the ferry is fun and adds to the “family entertainment”. Although the commute is a hike, the home feeling rather than commercial hotel is absolutely worth the trade off. The hostess was available to respond to any questions. As planned renovations come about, it can only enhance anyone’s vacation. Highly recommend for a family getaway!

Great house

Great house, when we arrived and let Amanda know the code was right there to get in. This is away from any major roads so you may want to stock up. The James River ferry is also neat. Well worth the stay, thanks Amanda.

Hidden Gem

Get away from the hustle and bustle of Williamsburg and stay here! A very seamless and quick (free) car ferry ride across the James to get to Busch Gardens and Jamestown. This place is great for families. There is even a basketball hoops the kids enjoyed! Lots of space to move and very quiet and serene. We tried 2/3 restaurants in town, both good. Neighbors were friendly and lots of charm. Amanda was fabulous to work with during our stay.

Super cute and calming

We loved our stay at Spring Grove. The beds were comfy, the setting quiet and the house cozy with a great view. It is rather remote and the owner seems to have thought of the little things that might be needed. We had events planned in Williamsburg and enjoyed the ferry ride over. Our only regret is that we didn't plan more downtime to enjoy the house.

Great place to get away . Great place to have a great time exploring history .

wonderful property and house . great for nearby attractions . Most need accessed by a free ferry which in itself was very nice. We went to Jamestown , Williamsburg , Norfolk Navel Tour , seeing much of the Atlantic fleet. Played miniture golf . the week got too short to get to Busch Gardens or Yorktowne Battlefield.Loved our family vacation . Thank you very much .

Last minute getaway.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The owner was flexible and responded quickly to my questions. The home is in a rural area so it was very quiet. You have a beautiful view of the James River from the house but there is no direct access to the river from the house. The listing states walking distance but we could not figure out how to access the river.

Wonderful Stay

We enjoyed a long weekend at this property and it fit our family well! The house was clean and well stocked with cooking equipment, coffee, towels and sheets, and board games. As previous reviews state, it is not near any grocery stores, so get your groceries on the way in. We enjoyed the ferry ride over to Williamsburg one day. It was enjoyable but you must plan around ferry times. Air conditioning worked well. Description and pictures are a good representation of property. Great place and good communication from owner. Our only small complaint- if any, is the distance from activities, and stores.

Time-out!!

Very comfortable, relaxing and well appointed. We brought our own breakfast foods and snacks, but otherwise it out. Very appreciative for the game closet as described in the day. Corn hole boards. Unfortunately, our weather was not the best so we were happy to be able to pull one car under and access the house without getting soaked. It might be good to label the sliding glass doors that one shouldn’t try to open. We were a little bit concerned about the situation in terms of the ferry, and were delighted to find out that there was no charge for it.

Great Family hideaway!

Our family enjoyed our stay together. We enjoyed the 20 minute Ferry Ride to Bush Gardens and the Water Park and back. Jamestown is right after you get off the Ferry. We enjoyed getting on deck and enjoyed the ride in the beautiful weather (I’m not sure how to get over to the other side if the Ferry can’t run so I would map that out before you head out). I would suggest that if you want fresh meat and veggies to shop before you arrive at the home. There are two Stores (can’t remember if they were Family Dollars or Dollar Generals) that had frozen food and snacks. We did have to drive for awhile to get to the Food Lion but if you stop before you arrive, your family will be all set for family fun when you arrive. This really is a family home and feels that way. I used the VRBO app and when I contacted the property manager for anything, I received an immediate response. We found some great places to eat with 15 minutes from the home. We left our reviews and some sample menus at the house for you. The ones we tried were Surry Seafood company (I loved the beer battered Rock Fish), Chinese and Italian. I hope you enjoy your leisure time in this hideaway home just as our family did.
