Welcome to The Getaway on White Swan Lake.

The same hosts that have offered the popular “The Hideaway on Wasson” (see Property ID 9062367) the last few years are pleased to offer “The Getaway” on neighboring White Swan Lake just a few hundred yards just down the road.

The Getaway opened as a vacation rental in August 2022. A complete remodel of the lower walkout level was doe over the winter and recently completed in May 2023, resulting in The Getaway on White Swan Lake being offered as a 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom cabin consisting of 3 levels that sleeps 10 - two in each of the four bedrooms and two on a futon in the living room.

The Getaway is a unique, cozy, modified A-frame style cabin on 4 private acres in the Minnesota north woods 100 feet of total shoreline consisting of a dock, sandy beach area, and boat launch area. It is perfect for small families, groups, couples, honeymooners, girls/guys weekends, fishing/hunting groups, friend groups, and more.

MAIN LEVEL: The main level has 1 bedroom, 1 full bath, fully stocked kitchen, adjacent dining room, living room area with flat screen TV, couch, futon, recliner, and two sliding glass doors that open to an inviting deck facing the lake and overlooking the yard. The kitchen is fully stocked with all common appliances, utensils, linens, and cooking/baking supplies you need, including basic brand regular and decaf coffee. All you need to bring is food.

UPPER LEVEL: The upper level consists of a bedroom, full bath with shower, back deck (also serves as an emergency escape), and a unique loft area that is perfect for sitting, reading, or just relaxing.

LOWER LEVEL: The lower level was closed and not open for use when The Getaway was initially opened as a vacation rental in late summer 2022. But during the winter/spring of 2023 a full remodel was conducted resulting in The Getaway being available again for rent after Memorial Day weekend. The remodel consisted of adding pine tongue & groove, new sectional, and a new 50” Smart TV in the living room/commom area, two updated bedrooms both with new queen size beds and linens (one bedroom has an egress window and the other has a sliding window as well as double sliding glass doors with a view toward the lake), a new tongue and groove full bathroom with a seated shower, a laundry room with a washing machine and two dryers, and a coffee bar with mini-fridge, coffee maker, sink, and cupboards.

LAKESIDE: The Getaway has about 100’ of total frontage with a sandy area for playing and a 60’ dock with sitting bench at the end. NOTE: There is a grassy area separating the sandy beach play area and the water, which we are in the process of working with the county on plans to excavate and alter the lakefront. We are unable to make any of these alterations and improvements until/if the county approves our plans, which will hope will be sometime during this summer 2023.
There are no motorized boats included or available for rent at The Getaway. However, guests are welcome to bring their own motorized or non-motorized watercraft, which can be launched and right from the property via the very gradual boat ramp area.
Guests will also have unlimited use of the following non-motorized watercraft during their stays - 2 kayaks, a 2-person canoe, and a peddle boat..

PETS: Only dogs are allowed. There is an additional pet fee of $50/stay with a max of 2 dogs. For guests’ convenience, we provide feeding dishes and poo bags.

FISHING: White Swan Lake is approximately 170 acres in size and spring fed. It is not a deep lake as it has a max depth of 20 feet. Per the MN DNR site, the lake has northern pike, perch, walleye, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and multiple other panfish like bluegill and sunfish.

HUNTING: We do not allow hunting on the 3.5 acre property. The use of guns of any kind, including but not limited to BB guns, bow and arrows, sling shots, crossbows, etc. are strictly prohibited. However, hunting groups are welcome to stay and hunt on the thousands of acres of government/public land in the area. Here are some websites with some area hunting and fishing information:

EXTERIOR: The cabin has a large yard for games (we have some in some plastic storage bins by the lake, but guests are also encouraged to also bring their own) and there is a large, private fire pit area by the lakeside with a fully stocked wood pile. Campfires are always allowed as long as there are no state or county burning bans in place.
For pets, there is a long blue cable line attached to a tree on the side of the yard in front of the grey shed, which can be used to tethered your dog to.

NOTE: Included in the rental rate is a 3% lodging tax paid to the non-profit organization Visit Grand Rapids (www.VisitGrandRapids.com). Their mission is to promote the Itasca County/Grand Rapids area as a destination for conferences, conventions, events, group tours and leisure travelers, thereby enhancing the economic growth of the area through travel and tourism. We (the owners) support this non-profit and their goals and mission, and thus have chosen to pay this tax voluntary out of pocket from rentals received. Guests will not see this additional tax added to their reservations nor receive an extra charge from us.
