Welcome to your home away from home at The Sacramento River House.

A private riverfront vacation rental nestled right in the middle of the Shasta Cascade wonderland.

THE HOME
The Sacramento River House is a private riverfront getaway, ideal for families and large groups. The home is completely furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, and is comfortable and airy with a large back patio, two sunlit side yards, and is pet friendly.

The 2,100 sq. ft. home features, 3 bedrooms (1 King bed, 1 Cal-King bed, 2 bunk beds), 2 bathrooms (2 showers, 1 relaxing sunken tub), and comfortably sleeps up to 8 people.

Enjoy riverfront views on the back patio, perfect for barbecuing and entertaining. Cozy up to the fire-pit and enjoy the sunset, practice your swing on the driving range, or relax in our spacious family room, complete with a wood stove for cooler months.

THE PROPERTY
Nestled in the middle of the Shasta Cascade Wonderland, a 1000-foot private driveway leads you to onto the 14-acre property with the main home and barn. Take a walk to the field behind the home to enjoy over 400 ft. premier Sacramento River access and views, along with your own private boat dock. Continue exploring the sprawling property and you'll find towering valley oaks and black locusts planted by the first settlers over 150 years ago.

A great jumping-off point for the many outdoor experiences that Shasta Cascade Wonderland has to offer, the property is ideally located one mile from Interstate 5 and the Redding Municipal Airport, 20 minutes from Lake Shasta and Whiskeytown Lake, and one hour from the Mt. Shasta Ski/Board Park.

Stay on the property and enjoy boating, fishing, a driving range, and other outdoor activities right in your own backyard.

Just down the road, enjoy fresh produce and local cuts of meat at Kent's Meat and Grocery, a family-owned grocery and sundries store with an on-site butcher and fabulous deli, fresh produce, and the best meats, wine, and spirits in town.

THE BARN
A classic red barn that comes with a full kitchen, upstairs loft, bathroom, stereo system, heating and air, and a ping-pong table.

This our second time staying here- once for a wedding and once for a birthday/family weekend. The property is beautiful, lots of space for kids to run around, and a lot of different ways to set things up if you’re having an event. The house is great, it’s clean with a lot of amenities, and the owners are friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend!

My stay was wonderful. The house is great, the property was fantastic. It’s so peaceful. I had a user error with the WiFi and the owners were super helpful and full of cool history about the property. This is a perfect getaway house if you’re passing through or staying in the area.

Wonderful memorial reception and stay

Stayed at the River house for 4 nights.The house worked great for our family and those who attended my dad’s reception. All ages enjoyed the grassy yard for running and playing soccer. Family loved hitting golf balls too.Very enjoyable and comfortable VRBO

Our 3rd stay and as fabulous as the 1st time

We all enjoyed our 3rd stay here. With sprawling space on the front and backyards, kids and our furry friends had a blast. We discovered the cherry plum tree and those were amazingly sweet in September.

Shasta trip

We had a great time staying at the property. We made this our hub to travel to all places around like Shasta caves, sundial bridge, Lassen national park, mccloud falls etc. It is 10 mints to Redding downtown. The barn was amazing for kids and adults to wind down and play. Overall a great stay. Highly recommended

Wonderful property & host

We had a wonderful family vacation at the property. Scott met us when we arrived to give us a tour. We especially enjoyed hearing the history of the property and the area. Scott gave us great recommendations of things to do and where to go for good eats. The house is charming and well appointed. It was a great place to just stay and hang out. Lots to do with the barn, piano, and short walk to the river. Everyone in the family, teens and adults, want to return. Thanks again for a great experience!

Amazing location and wonderful home stay!

This was such a wonderful home to stay at! First off the location on the river is amazing. The property owner has lots of things to keep the teens busy and there is plenty of space. The home had plenty of amenities already there and it made for a very “at home” feel. We would definitely stay here again.

peaceful beautiful and charming!

It’s our favorite place to stay when we visit Redding. Morning coffee on the back porch watching wildlife. Late night ping pong games in the barn. Walks to the river to skip rocks. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and charming. My whole family loves it and we can’t wait to come back!

Best venue around

If youre looking for a relaxing property where you can cook but are also located close enough to restaurants, this is your place. If youre looking for a location close to the freeway yet also has a country feel, this is your place. If youre looking for a home-away-from-home, look no further. You've found your place! This is the best venue I've ever stayed at and will return for future stays. The kitchen is stocked with all the dinnerware and utensils a person could need and the cupboards contain spices, oils, coffee, and other dry goods to make the space convenient. There is a full size regrigerator which allows one to store brought in goodies. The bbq is a fun addition and works great! The groubds are clean and there is ample room for people to feel free. The view of the river is wonderful.

Family Fun

We had a family group with grandparents, parents and kids ranging from 13 to under 2 years. We were able to take advantage of a lot of what the place had to offer. From the piano to the pool table and ping pong we did a lot of back and forth between the house, playing outside and the barn. I recommend making sure to get the checkin orientation. We were traveling remotely and did not get the email to meet the property manager so I feel that we missed out on some good information. We will not make that mistake again. Overall the stay was comfortable and everyone enjoyed themselves. We would consider another stay. 🙂

So much FUN!

If you didn't have a good time, you didn't stay here. My husband & I, our son & wife, and mom got together to bbq and enjoyed a stay-cation. The location is just off a main road, conveniently located with access to I-5, gas stations, convenience & grocery stores, all while providing a counter feel. There are plenty of activies including fishing from the walking distance dock, driving golf balls from the back deck, ping pong, pool, croquet, giant connect 4, music, and SO much more! The outdoor space allows for creativity and the fireplace was a lot if fun to gather around in the evening. The kitchen is very well stocked with dishes, Silverware, condiments & more. Gas bbq on the ba k deck was a hit!! Our busy family doesn't often connect as much as we'd like due to both time constraints & logistics. This venue provided an economical, local, and truly home-like feel that we all agreed we'd re-visit. As such, we've already booked another mini vacation next year! This may just be our annual home-away-from-home stay-cation venue. Communication with the owner is seamless. They reply immediately & reach out quickly when changes have been made. I've stayed at several rental locations and this was one of the beat experiences I've had. The family agrees. Thank you for allowing us to be your guests. We're looking forward to visiting you again!

Relaxing and refreshing family vacation

We enjoyed morning coffee on the back porch watching wild turkeys, deer, hawks and hummingbirds in the back field. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting on the dock watching the river pass by. And of course my daughters loved playing ping pong at night in the barn. This was a perfect place for a relaxing and refreshing family vacation.

Serenity!

Scott was very accommodating and very quick to respond to any questions. He was a pleasure to meet and show us the little quirks of the property which was extremely helpful. The space was clean and had all of the necessities for a few night stay. The property was expansive with a cool barn , river access and tons of space for the fur baby to roam! Would definitely recommend.

Raised in the Shasta Cascade region, Scott Swendiman has enjoyed the great outdoors of this area for the past 50 years. He is a bit of a local historian, is deeply involved with the community, and has been a real estate broker for the past 4 decades.

Scott fell in love with the property as soon as he saw it back in 1996. Along with his three daughters, and the help of many friends and other family members over the years, he has turned the property into an inviting family retreat, constructed the barn, hosted birthdays, and reunions. Scott takes pride in knowing that this beautiful location will live in the memories and photos of every experience that takes place at this cherished Sacramento River House.
