This is one of our favorite places to stay when we visit the area for family gatherings. The country setting is perfect for our families, lots of room to run for the kids and enough seating space for dinner gatherings. Kris is very attentive and kind, will absolutely continue to stay at this location and appreciate all of the extra offerings the home has!

Wonderful stay at The Roost!The house was absolutely charming, comfortable, and full of personality. The views from the property were beautiful, and it was such a peaceful place to come back to after long days out and about. We were in the Winterset area for the Booneville Backroads Ultra, and The Roost made the perfect home base for our weekend. Everything felt welcoming and thoughtfully put together. We would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Perfect location! Great host! Loved her little shop next door. Ideal location - close to Winterset but in a beautiful country setting. We will be back!!!

We enjoyed our time there. We had bad weather and lost power for about 3 hrs.. Our friend had a rechargeable emergency light that worked perfect as we went to town and charged our phones and the light. That would be a recommendation I would add. Kitchen is well stocked for supplies and we cooked 2 meals there and it was very nice. Since we were 2 couples we liked that there were 2 bathrooms. I would recommend 2 queen beds but there is a queen and 3 double beds were very comfortable ceiling fans in each room. Kris the host was very helpful and kind we enjoyed the farm fresh eggs and the rooster themed decor.

What a perfect place to stay for our Book Club. We enjoyed meeting Kris when she opened her boutique ( a few steps away from her Vrbo) and we saw all the local Iowa products as well as fun boutique items to buy. The house was perfect with the four bedrooms and two baths and its fun decor. We enjoyed playing cards on the spacious dining room table and watching the FIFA games. The country location allowed us to relax, however is was close to West Des Moines, Winterset and other smalll towns we wanted to visit. We all agreed that we would highly recommend staying at The Roost.

Lovely place, lovely weekend

A group of girlfriends wanted a weekend away near Des Moines. This place was amazing - close to town, has what we needed in the kitchen, comfy beds, spacious house, wonderful hosts.

Kris was a very welcoming host. The house was clean and fully decorated. The kitchen had lots of cooking supplies, which was good for fixing Thanksgiving dinner. Lovely views and homey comfortable environment.

The house was perfect for us!

There were 8 adults who stayed at this house and the accommodations were perfect. The host made it know she was there if we needed her and was welcoming without being over bearing. We all enjoyed our stay!

Brothers Sister and spouses reunion

Very peaceful quiet house located in the country. House was very clean, beds were comfortable, and plenty of cooking supplies. We all really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend this place.

Nice sister’s getaway!

Quiet, private, and beautiful scenery! The house was so cute! Close enough to Des Moines for shopping, but far enough away from the city that we had peace & quiet!

Girls Weekend Trip

This is a great property in a picturesque setting. The decor was beautiful and the house was well stocked. The hosts were amazing and very responsive. They gave us great suggestions for restaurants and activities. We would definitely stay here again.

A Nice stay in the country!

We were in the area for a wedding and spent two nights at the Roost. It had everything we needed, was clean and the shower and tub in the master bath were wonderful! We enjoyed coffee on the deck and also on the front porch. The fireflies in the evening seen from the deck were amazing as well as various deer!

The house is perfect for a quiet remote get away. The accommodations are very clean and have everything that you can think of. The large master bedroom is at the opposite end of the house off by itself. Very quiet

The Roost is the perfect country get away! It’s spacious and stocked with all essentials. Loved it!

Kris was just amazing. She accommodated our schedule, provided activity suggestions, and even brought us fresh eggs for breakfast! Highly recommend The Roost!

The Roost

We had a fabulous time on our sisters trip to Winterset. The Roost was so comfortable, clean, and accommodating. The beds were very comfortable. Kris delivered, homemade bread and provided fresh eggs.
