Thank you for showing interest in Kohala Lodge. This Beautiful 2400 square ft craftsman-style Paniolo (cowboy) retreat is your's for you and your guest only. The retreat sets on 3.5 acres located at the Northwest coast of the Big Island above Historic town of Hawi. When staying at the Kohala Lodge you can visit and feed the animals... FREE High Speed Wi-Fi

The Lodge House is fully furnished. Work and Play at Kohala Lodge the large Lani offers a great setting. The Lodge House has two baths and sleeps 4 comfortably. The second floor loft with a Queen size bed overlooks the great room with large fireplace and 30 foot ceilings. Make a cozy fire for those cool evenings ( fire wood provided )

The spacious Master bedroom is located on the main floor with private bathroom. The Lodge House is a unique timber-framed Paniolo style ranch home made of high quality large yellow cedar wood. Come enjoy paradise in this relaxing, beautiful home with spectacular ocean and sunset views from just about every room.

Relax on the expansive font deck overlooking the ocean / see the Whales spouting when they are migrating through Hawaii. Finish your day barbecuing on the grill and enjoy your food in our fully furnished kitchen.

One of a kind stay near Hawi. Beautiful property, hosts and lodge. Perfect getaway from hustle of large cities and work. Cool, evening breeze and wonderful sunrises and sunsets.

We enjoyed a thoroughly magical week at Kohala Lodge. Everything you have read in the "Always 10" reviews is true. Chris, Carol and Justin have gone out of their way to create a special home on a spectacular piece of property overlooking the Pacific, with Maui floating in the distance. From waking up to local birds and walking in the quiet neighborhood, to watching beloved animals in the pasture and reading on the beautifully landscaped lanai, to to pastel sunsets and building fires in the 30-foot lava stone fireplace, Kohala Lodge is everything as promised and more. The place is the definition of bucolic.

Incredible location. The lodge is located on a beautiful piece of property where you have a view of the ocean. Everyday we sat on the porch and watched the sunset.

It is a magical property located close to downtown Hāwī. The wonderfully crafted house with a spacious front lanai overlooks the delightful, friendly farm animals, grazing the rolling green pastures, and the Pacific. At twilight, you can often see Maui 30 miles away. The glorious sunsets photograph well!

Already dreaming of a return trip to this magical place. The care and attention to detail that Chris put into creating and maintaining the house and property was truly remarkable. We felt welcomed and right at home. House was immaculately clean, yet full of character and cool things to discover. Our kids loved running around the soft grass and playing on the swing, and our whole family looked forward to seeing the animals awaken as the sun came over the property each morning.

We absolutely love their beautiful lodge. It is a magical place in a beautiful setting with incredible views. We will be back again and highly recommend staying here. The family was very f friendly and accommodating. We loved sitting on the deck taking in the spectacular views. The lodge was masterly built by the owners. It provides a very unique stay up rly in the Kohola mountains. Thank you, Aron and Sandra.

Hands down one of the best stays! We live on island so this was a little staycation for us. Everything was perfect! From the weather, to the ambianace, fire place, lanai, farm animals! 10/10 will definitely come back.

This place is magical. So peaceful, the most spectacular views, and such a tastefully decorated lodge. The stars shine brighter, the grass is greener, and the chorus of birds instantly puts you at ease.

Chris was an excellent host. The lodge is a truly magical setting. Even when there are clouds and rain, it is beautiful. A quiet retreat overlooking the channel between Maui and the Big island. It was enjoyable seeing the routine of the animals each day. We will be back.

Kohala Lodge is not just a place to stay, it is a destination. If you visit the Big Island, it is one of the bucket-list experiences you must have. Scenic, tranquil, magical all come to mind. Sit on the expansive front porch and contemplate that you are on an island in the Pacific with a view of Maui in the distance. Feed the animals with pellets provided by the owner. When the breeze gets quite cool, you can build a fire in the stone fireplace with wood provided by the owner. I did not cook, so I cannot comment on that experience. Instead, the charming little town of Havi is easy to access with excellent fare at the Kohala market. For the adventurous, there is sky-diving nearby, or just feed your soul relaxing at the lodge.

I am a repeat guest from 20 years ago and found it to be just as charming and bucolic as I remembered.This is the "other Hawaii" where peacefulness and quiet prevail. The animals in the pastures are the backdrop along with amazing views of Maui. Chris couldn't have been a better host, and a joy to talk to.His love of this area is obvious and contagious.Get away from the resorts and get out to the country.This is the best way to do it.

The best place to stay on the big island!

This is the best place to stay on the big island. Great view, great vibes, great host. Away from the crowds but not too far from all the beaches and restaurants. We’ve stayed here two years in a row and plan on coming back next year.

Most tranquil and beautiful stay

The property and house were amazing. We have stayed at homes around the world and this one was just perfect. The views were amazing and the mini farm with the cutest goats and miniature horse were a great bonus.
