Great place to stay, close to everything you can think of and just a 5 minute drive to the beach. Quiet, comfortable and well priced.

Amazing stay host was so cool very helpful and very responsive. How close the beach is well bit further than stated but not that bad had a blast place is very nice. Cool location.

The building is a classic, older one that looks great. The location is close to Oceano, Grover Beach, and Pismo Beach. Nice overall environment. Friendly, positive, owner always ready to help out with anything we needed. We didn't need anything, but definitely felt at home.We'll return if we get a chance!

Scott was a wonderful host. Very professional and courteous. He checked in with us the morning of our stay just to ask when we'd be on town. Check in was at 4 but Scott let us know the room was ready earlier and said we were welcome to check in when we were ready. Room was super clean and really well maintained. House and the neighborhood was very quiet at all times. Would highly recommend staying here. We'll be back I'm sure.

My stay at Scott's tropical retreat was excellent. The house rules were reasonaabale and well-defined..no ambiguity at all and easy to understand. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was terrific!! Scott was an extremley warm and welcoming host. He was also very responsive at the times I needed help wth anything. He responded to my texts in a timely manner...and even appeared in person if necessary to help me. I highly recommentd his apartment and will definitely stay at his retreat on my next trip!

The Host Scott was great!!! A very likable person. We thought it was within walking distance to the beach, rather it was a long distance for walking. The neighborhoods in Grover beach are rather spotty with homes needing major repairs or parked vehicles and trailers on many of the properties. Our room had no closet to hang clothes other than the back of the bedroom door. Television seemed to only play replays, not much on any of the given apps to offer current television. The entry consisted of a washer and dryer and laundry sink. The bathtub was not functional only a shower. The bbq was broken needing an igniter or maybe just a battery and was not available. The restaurants in Grover were very good however; Pismo Beach had much more to offer in all respects. We thought by the pictures this was more like a beach house versus an efficiency and close to beach with maybe some views either from room, however, the bedroom and only room faced back yard with some plants in vases and sitting area. If you are planning on cooking at this location, it will not work without improvising and attempting to make things work. We probably would not consider this efficiency on the future.

To help future travelers, we would love to clarify a few details about our space and the local area: Location & Beach Access: Our property is located in an older, rapidly revitalizing coastal community. We are less than a 1-mile walk (about 10 minutes) from the beach, and guests also have the unique option to drive right onto the sand just 5 minutes away. Neighborhood Amenities: While Pismo Beach is a great neighbor, Grover Beach offers some of the best local dining on the Central Coast, with several top-tier restaurants within walking distance. Room Layout & Amenities: This space is an efficiency suite designed for maximum comfort. We recently remodeled the closet into a custom bar and seating area based on guest feedback, providing hooks for hanging clothes. The patio features a peaceful, tropical garden setting with palm trees and ferns. Appliances & TV: The suite features a brand-new Smart TV with premium subscriptions (Netflix, YouTube TV, Prime, Max, and Showtime). While the BBQ was awaiting a new igniter switch, it was fully functional and available upon request. We take great pride in our 10 years of hosting travelers from all over the world. We are always on-site or a quick message away to accommodate special requests and ensure a wonderful stay.

Was a great place to stay

Host was very responsive for any questions I had. I was in town for two birthdays and an anniversary celebration. This was in close proximity and worked very well. Thanks for the great accomodations!!

Tropical stay near the beach

Scott was super communicative and helpful with lots of ideas for my stay near the beach. There is such a lot to do in this area, and I really enjoyed the quiet area to get some work done as well as walk on the beach and enjoy some great down time. Check in was easy and I had everything I needed. Highly recommend for convenience and location.

This little spot is so peaceful and quiet. The bathroom was my favorite. We actually just used it so I could get ready for my wedding and then we passed out after all the events and left in the morning. It’s a perfect spot for a getaway and it’s just simple. Scott was great at communicating and making sure we had everything we needed.

This is a bedroom and bathroom that is part of someone’s house devided by a pocket door, they came into the area we rented while we weren’t there, I’m furious about the invasion of privacy! I had no clue that I was renting a room from stangers., when we weren’t there, you can hear what the are doing/TV. You have zero control of the temperature in the room which was very hot/stuffy, no indoor seating area, other than the bed or toilet. Driveway is uphill, which was an inconvenience for me, due to a boot on my foot from recent surgery. The only good thing for us was the location, close to our kids. Do not recommend!!!

Tropical Retreat - Pismo Beach area

I stayed at Tropical Retreat for 3 nights while I moved my son into college in San Luis Obispo. Scott was very welcoming and the portion of the home I had was clean, well organized and all faculties were high quality and worked as expected. If you're looking for an entire home, this is not that, but a private entrance, bedroom, bath and laundry room are available. I enjoyed my stay!

Felt like Home

So cute, clean and cozy! I didn’t want to leave! Only cons: Handle on bathtub was broken, so I could turn it on, but wasn’t able to adjust the temperature so it was scorching hot Backyard wasn’t as nice as pictures showed. It was still nice and I enjoyed some time reading out there. , but it was missing the string lights

Excellent Host!

Scott was a great host! The rental is a room within a home, with a private entrance, which was just as it was represented online. It was not ultra quiet. When booking a room within a home, that is to be expected. The room was nicely appointed and clean. I would book again!

I'm sorry we never got the chance to meet given the space was booked for friends of yours visiting for a wedding I believe - nonetheless, it was a pleasure meeting and hosting the two of them as they were a very nice couple and we were happy to accommodate. For the record, the house is generally vacant for all visiting guests and is a very peaceful and quiet environment including the area in which we live. If we may be home with visiting guests, you can rest assured we’re always very respectful of their space and privacy! The hallway is more prone to sounds from time to time during daytime hours however, the rest of the house including the bedroom has never been an issue. At any rate - we were happy to greet and meet them during their visit and you’re all welcome back anytime! ;) Cheers, Scott

Comfortable and Peaceful Stay in a Great Neighborhood Near the Beach

We had a wonderful stay at Scott's property in Grover Beach. The room and bed were comfortable, and the place was clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Scott is an excellent host who communicated exceptionally well, consistently checking to see if we needed anything and graciously allowing us a late check-out. The serene and calm ambiance, accentuated by the soothing sound of water at the entrance, made our stay even more enjoyable. The yard was green, clean and quaint, providing a lovely spot to have meals and to relax. Scott's kindness, attention to detail and hospitality make him a five-star host. We highly recommend staying at Scott's place for a peaceful and delightful experience. Thank you, Scott!
