Sit back, relax, and soak in the views. The Rockfish Retreat is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, right in the heart of the Nelson 151 Winery/Brewery Trail. And it has everything you need for a fun and relaxing family get away: hot tub; fire pits, walking trail, high-speed fiber internet, and most importantly, peace and quiet. We love the time that we get to spend in Afton and hope you do too!
Upstairs:
Our large living room with mountain views, a large couch, wide-screen smart tv, and wood burning fireplace. The kitchen has a gas range and all the necessities for preparing a meal at home: pots, pans, cookware, crockpot, dishes, glasses, coffee makers, etc. The dining table looks out onto a Juliet Balcony and to the rolling hills beyond. There is also access to the screened-in porch and deck that flows down to the patio. The porch gets lovely morning sun and is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee even during the winter. The Primary Bedroom is also upstairs and has 1 King Bed, an on-suite bathroom, and a walk-out to porch. The washer/dryer are also upstairs and are located off the hall next to a half-bath.
Downstairs:
The downstairs living room has a Futon, PacMan machine, and large smart tv. There is also a small play room down stairs (think cupboard under the stairs from Harry Potter) with a doll house and toys. The First Downstairs Bedroom has 1 Queen Bed , 1 Twin Bed, and a desk. The twin bed is in a nook that offers a little privacy (in terms of line of sight). This bedroom also has direct access to our patio and hut tub. The Second Downstairs Bedroom has 1 Full Bed, and 2 Twins (bunk bed). There is also a Full Bath downstairs and a Utility Room where we keep a few outdoor games.
Patio/Outdoor:
Outside you'll find our 7-person Marquis Hot Tub, fire pit (with outdoor couch and Adirondack chairs), propane grill (on the deck) hammock and covered outdoor dining table. The front yard contains a second fire pit next to the woodpile. And there is a walking trail that leads down to an old spring house.
Guest access
We use contactless check-in with a smart lock. Your unique code will be provided to you before you arrive and can be used throughout your stay. Please note that two cabinets in the kitchen and the closet in the primary bedroom are reserved for use by the owners.
The road leading to our house is narrow and has several blind curves. There are also a lot of deer. Please drive slowly.
Please note that if there is significant snow, you will need a 4-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle to make it all the way to the house before the road can be plowed.
Other things to note:
There isn't a better location in Nelson County. We are just a short drive away from so many wonderful attractions. (Driving times are approximate).
