October 2022 Update: The road from Gardiner, MT to Cooke City, MT is now open! We are located within walking distance to shops and restaurants in the historic town of Cooke City, MT. There are countless activities right outside your door including hiking, 4 wheeling, fishing, kayaking, sight seeing, wildlife watching, skiing, snowmobiling only to name a few. You will be surrounded by beautiful scenery in any direction.
The space
This cabin is located right on main street and boasts incredible mountain views from every window. This cabin includes four bedrooms and two baths all on one level.

We are new owners and we are working on several upgrades. We will post updates as soon as we can! We are looking forward to having you enjoy this special place.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire space and patio.
Other things to note
We are happy to provide alternative suggestions of fun activities given the road damage in Yellowstone. We hope you will consider coming to visit this incredible area! Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns about roads and the conditions.

There is no cell service in Cooke City. We recommend enabling wifi calling and texting prior to your visit if you need to communicate with outside parties during your stay.

There are limited groceries in Cooke City. We recommend shopping in a bigger town prior to your arrival. Basic groceries may be purchased at the High Country Motel or the gas stations in town.

If you have additional guests in your party, we would love to have them stay at one of our other cabins that are very close by. Contact us for the listing links

Wonderful location

We enjoyed our stay at Colter’s cabin. It was in a great spot in reference to Yellowstone. It had everything we needed in the kitchen for dinners and plenty of linens for our big family. The host was quick to respond to any questions. We loved the fire pit out back.

Worked almost perfectly for anglers

The house itself was perfect for our group of four anglers. The only issue was how to deal with trash. The house rules said to take trash to the transfer station in Cooke City which is only open on certain days and after 12 noon. That's difficult for anglers who are away from Cooke City all day. There needs to be another option for the trash. Otherwise, the house was perfect!

Yellowstone vacation

Cabin was perfect for our group of 8. We came to Yellowstone to hike and look for wildlife. The cabin was very close to the Northeast entrance of the park and the Lamar Valley which is known for wildlife. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and very well appointed. We loved the view of the mountains from the front deck. Excellent stay and would love to come back some day.

Great little cabin close to the park.

Cozy cabin, minutes from the park. Cooke city is a great mountain town, witha good selection of restaurants, stores and supplies.

Nice to be close to shopping and eating. Cabin was stocked well. The double bed in the bedroom closest to the kitchen was very uncomfortable.

Perfect location for wildlife viewing in Yellowstone

This is the best stocked property I have ever stayed in. Kitchen has everything. There is plenty of paper products. Even though it is on the main street, it was very quiet while we were there.

Spring animal viewing in Yellowstone

Cabin was very cozy and comfortable. We had plenty of room for 2 couples with 2 bedrooms to spare. It was nice to come back to a warm house after full days out, make our own meals and relax, especially since we had snow and rain for much of our stay. Location is perfect for accessing the northeastern part of the park. I would definitely stay there again if plans permit.

Very nice.

This property is very nice and in the perfect location. We met the property owner and his dog. He was very nice and responded to messages vert promptly. We all wouls definitely stay here again.

Perfect for us

This place was perfect for us. One thing you should do is open up the email that has the key code before you get to Cooke City because there is no signal anywhere in town. We had a great time once we finally got the keys out of the lock box. All totally my fault.

Great house, perfect location!

This house is a gem! We were there with side by sides to ride in the mountains above Cooke City, a great access to getting up there. Everything is well stocked for cooking. We especially like the treager and cooked brisket on it while we were gone all day. The bathroom towels are exceptionally nice too! This is the second time we have rented it and will again for sure!

Great Cabin

This was our first visit to Cooke City, but it won’t be our last. We will definitely try to stay in this cabin again. It was a great fit for our family of four, but it would have accommodated several more people. The beds were comfortable, and we appreciated having two bathrooms. The outdoor space was great, too. We wish we had stayed a little longer.

Just right

We had a group of eight, staying here. The place was well-stocked with supplies. There is a smoker and two grills in back with a great fire pit. This place served out purpose well and we would stay here again.

Family Vacation

Our stay a Coulter's Cabin was great. We had enough space for our 9 person family. If we needed help where trash needed to be disposed, Lindsey messaged quickly back. There was plenty of towels and linens in the laundry room. We lived sitting by the fire in the evenings and appreciated the already chopped wood being available. This little miner's town has so much history and stores sticked wirh necessities in case you forgot something. Enjoyed the books left at the cabin for some light reading by the fire. Thank you guys for sharing your cabin with our family.

Early Summer Vacation

I highly recommend this place for your stay. Check in/out was easy. The cabin was clean & was even nicer than the pictures show. A lot of thought was put into the details so that we had everything we needed during the stay. This was noticed and appreciated! The cabin had plenty of room for us (6 adults) and I could see it easily accommodating a group of 8-9. The location is easy to walk to the small town & it gives easy access to the Beartooth Highway and Lamar Valley in Yellowstone, two of our favorites! I would not hesitate to book here!

Great Communication
