Cozy historic cottage in historic Fairmount
Wonderful historic 1910 cottage located in the popular and very active Fairmount National Historic District within walking distance of hospitals, restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and shopping, and less than 10 minutes from downtown Fort Worth. Situated near the intersection of 8th Avenue and W Allen Avenue, Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center is only a 3-minute drive or a 9-minute walk from this convenient location. You can also walk or bike to Finn Mac Cool's Pub or any of the great restaurants and shops on Magnolia Avenue.
The cottage sits privately at the rear of the property behind the main house and has original restored hardwood floors, a beautiful porcelain farm sink, W/D, tankless water heater, dual mini-split heating cooling, gas stove, fully equipped kitchen, and heated floors in the bathroom complete with a timed thermostat. There is plenty of storage including a walk-in closet, shelves, and a single private off-street parking space. The house is furnished with locally made A Brandt Ranch Oak furniture and features a queen-sized white iron bed in the bedroom. The cottage has been completely renovated and has everything ready for you to unpack your suitcase and feel right at home.
The cottage was featured on Fairmount's Tour of Historic Homes in 2022 as the in-progress house. Comments included that it was one of the coziest spaces they had visited and they didn't want to leave. I know you will enjoy your time here.
** The main house on the property is undergoing restoration! The Naylor-Moses house turned 114 in 2024 and is currently undergoing restoration and is a contributing historic property to the Fairmount National Historic District. The house has two apartments and we look forward to hosting you there soon. We hope you will enjoy watching our progress during your cottage stay!
Fairmount is a front porch community. There is always something to do. Visit the Fairmount Community Library, start a plot in the Community Garden, enjoy a picnic in Fairmount Park, or stroll the beautiful tree-lined streets. Arts Fifth Avenue is centrally located within the neighborhood, where you can take a Yoga class, learn to tap dance, or attend a musical, all within walking distance. And, if you are lucky enough to be in Fairmount during December, watch out for Fairmount's Festivus -- it's for the rest of us!

Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca del anfitrión
Anfitrión: John Ladd
I was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Amarillo, TX, but I call Fort Worth home where I have lived for the past 15+ years. I live in my favorite area, right off Magnolia in the Fairmount National Historic District. I love old houses and love living in them. My goal is that you will fall in love with them too, and can't wait to visit again.
My house is more than 110 years old and I have researched its history. Soon the house will become a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and I am proud to be the caretaker for this special property and help pass along a little bit of history to future generations.
My current job is restoring my old house -- not the one you are renting, but the one standing on the same property. It will be rentals too, but for now, it is my pride and joy and my main focus is to see it renovated and restored, and once again shining bright in the neighborhood.
In my free time, although I don't have much these days, I enjoy photography, landscaping with native plants, art, and exploring the history of where I live.
I hope you will enjoy your time in my neighborhood and take in all that it has to offer.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad
I love where I live. The Fairmount neighborhood has an active community that offers a lot of entertainment options from its annual Tour of Historic Homes on Mother's Day weekend to a holiday light tour called Festivus in December, and many social events throughout the year.
Qué distingue a esta propiedad
When I first saw this house I knew it was for me. Sitting as an apartment house since 1917, the large main structure with its unique squat columns was like no other in the Fairmount historic district. The enclosed front porch beckoned to be reopened and the small cottage at the rear of the property cried for attention. Beautiful 100-year-old oak floors and shiplap walls were hidden beneath 1970s paneling and peel-and-stick flooring. While the main house is undergoing extensive renovation, it is a pleasure to see the cottage once again lived in and loved. This house is a labor of love with a rich history that will survive another 100 years in Fort Worth.
