This was a lovely property with more than enough space for my family. We loved the location and the privacy it offered and the amenities (coffee/tea) were much appreciated. Having the two separate living spaces and kitchens was very nice and there was plenty of room when we all got together but also space for each of us to have a private bedroom. I would definitely recommend this house if you have a large family to accommodate.

Great place! Spacious, Clean and Convenient!

We had a great time at this property! It was exactly as described on the listing. The property was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The location was close enough for us to walk to everything we wanted to see. It was about a mile and a half to the National Mall and totally doable. Highly recommend this property for your DC vacation!

Great Rental for Family Christmas in DC

House is well designed, spotlessly clean, and has great hosts. Stephen and Ivan were easy to reach and always helpful. Plenty of room for the 7 family members to spread out, relax, and enjoy each other's company. The already decorated Christmas Tree was icing on the cake.

Great house in central location

This was a great property with room for 4 adults, each having their own bathroom. Though central, the house was quiet and had a neighbourly feel, close to restaurants and the Washington Convention centre where we were attending a conference. We would recommend this property to anyone, except those who dont like stairs!

Our family of 6 stayed at this property for our visit to DC and it was the perfect place for our stay! We were close to all the main sites with the National Mall and museums a very quick Uber ride away. We walked to dinner almost every night. We had made reservations in advance using the home address and there were plenty of great places to eat within a 15 min or less walk. Lots of shops and places to eat were within 2 blocks. Would highly recommend and would stay here again.

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving with family at this stellar home. The decor is beautiful and the hosts are terrific and so accomodating. Since the two units can be closed off our one son and his family could spend time alone and their 1 yr old could nap away from the noise upstairs. With 2 kitchens we were able to prepare and host all 4 of our sons and familes (kids ages 6; 15 months; 1 and 7 months) for Thanksgiving dinner. The location is great as well with a metro stop closeby and lots of resturaunts as well. It is a well deserved 5 Star!!!! Thanks to Stephen and Ivan hosts with the most.

Great Location. Lots of Stairs. Not for those with ADA needs.

Great property in the Shaw neighborhood. Main issue was ADA accessibility of property. There are LOTS of stairs for those with mobility issues. Stairs to enter property and stairs to go to any bedroom. It would be helpful to have clearly stated that although this property is in a great central location, it is not for the elderly, canes, crutches, or any other mobility issue. There are no bedrooms nor full baths on any main level.

Dear future VRBO guests and hosts, We are writing to you in response to the not-so-perfect review that was left by Hayes. We would like to address the concerns that were raised in the review and provide you with some additional information about our property. Our listing description clearly states that our property is a three-story rowhouse with a basement. We clearly indicate the location of each bedroom and bathroom on the respected floor. We understand that some guests may have mobility issues, but Hayes failed to notify her guests and did not paid attention to the layout/photos/descriptions of our property before booking. We made every effort to accommodate Hayes' requests during her stay. We allowed her to check in early and check out late. She also asked to cancel her last night and requested a refund. We were disappointed to learn that one of Hayes' guests broke into our locked storage cabinet and opened/used many our new linens without asking first. We hope that this information will help you to make an informed decision about whether or not her review really reflects our listing and we hope you will book with us! We had a wonderful time in Washington, D.C. with our kids, grandkids, niece, and nephew. The Wilson/Shaw was the perfect refuge after busy days of sightseeing. The owners clearly take great pride in maintaining a spotless, comfortable, and welcoming property.The four-level layout worked exceptionally well for our group, providing plenty of privacy while still offering comfortable gathering spaces where we could spend time together. The neighborhood is highly walkable, with several dining options and a grocery store conveniently nearby.While there is no dedicated parking space, we found the parking system easy and convenient once we became familiar with it. Although we used our rental vehicle frequently, Uber was also a very cost-effective option for trips to the National Mall and the White House.The two kitchens were well equipped and featured newer appliances, something we have found lacking in some other vacation rentals. This made preparing meals easy and convenient for our large family group.All of the beds and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and the linens and towels were of excellent quality, adding to the overall comfort of our stay.I cannot speak highly enough about Stephen and Ivan as hosts. They were friendly, responsive, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Communication was easy from start to finish, and they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed.We highly recommend their property!

Our stay at the District Cottage was wonderful! Definitely the best stay we’ve had in the DC area. Location was safe and clean. House was well stocked with thoughtful touches. The hosts were extremely accommodating, helpful and responsive. We used the baby pack and play without issue. Would highly recommend the Distric Cottage and hope to stay here again.
