This property is absolutely amazing. We stayed during Parents Weekend at W&L. Brian and Michael were excellent hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay welcoming and comfortable. Check in is very easy. Baked goods and local beverages were delicious and fresh flowers were such a special touch. This is an easy 20-25minute drive to campus and a nice getaway from all the crowds in town. Book it, you’ll be glad you did!

Great stay in Alleghany Highlands

Wonderful, whimsical cottage near Clifton Forge/Covington and surrounding natural beauty. Owners have anticipated guest needs and added thoughtful touches.

Wonderful Stay!

The home was very unique and decorated beautifully! The property is historic, quaint and close to the highway with easy access to Lexington, VA and a view of the mountains. Thanks for a wonderful stay and for providing the best cookies and local beverages!

Excellent Stay!

We had an amazing stay at the kitchen house. The entire place was decorated so cute and every detail was impeccable. We loved it and will be back! Brian was super helpful and made our stay with the fresh bread, cookies and local craft beer to try. We had a great visit!

Everything about The Kitchen At Firmstone Manor was impeccable. It was such a lovely and cozy cottage. Made it the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Big thanks to our hosts, Brian and Michael for making our stay so memorable. Will definitely be back!

Vintage Charm with Modern Conveniences

We had a wonderful stay at the Kitchen House! The attention to detail by the owners, to inclcude the beautiful accomodations and treats, can not be understated. Brian was a perfect host, and we can't wait to visit again and enjoy this beautiful property!

The hosts did seem welcoming. The house is great although there needs to be more towel hooks for drying or several more towels when 4 people are there for more than a couple of day.

This place is absolutely lovely! The pictures don’t do it justice. The house is very clean, well stocked, well decorated, and they even left fresh flowers on the table, which I loved!! Also, there were treats in the kitchen. Bread, cookies, and cider from a local business. These were such nice touches. The cider was delicious! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

Gorgeous property in lovely location!

We dropped our son off at a local college in Lexington and stayed in this lovely property for the weekend. I’m from the gorgeous decor to the welcome treats, every part of our stay was perfect. The home is delightful and the owners were attentive and friendly. We plan to stay here each time we visit our son! Thank you for a great time!

Fun and colorful kitchen house at rhe manor

Check in was easy, communication very prompt, owners super nice, beds comfortable, love the colorful and fun decor, easy access to interstate and convenient to places we visited, kitchen has very nice appliances and needs for cooking. Loved the extra touches of fresh flowers and local treats. Truly a wonderful place to stay that i will recommend to friends and family.

Perfect little gem!!

This little cottage was perfect in every way. Bright, colorful, great attention to detail. We felt comfortable from the moment we walked in the door. Fresh flowers and local baked goods and spirits added to our warm welcome. Keeping this one on our shortlist for sure!

From character to location to cleanliness and hospitality, perfect is the best adjective that comes to . mind. Very quiet area and very convenient access to the interstate. When the host renovated this place it is obvious there was attention to detail in making it an impressive little place.

Perfect little nest

This rental was beautifully decorated in such happy and bright colors and artwork. The property was stunning. It was fascinating being surrounded by such wonderful, historic places. The hosts left us cookies, bread, and beer all from local artisans. So very thoughtful and welcoming. The bed is incredibly soft! We would certainly recommend staying here!

Girlfriends weekend

Lovely property! Our hosts were wonderful and they had cookies, mini-loaves of bread, a bottle of honey wine and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers awaiting us! Great weekend with friends! Could not have been more pleased! Thank you!!

Weekend getaway

From the moment we stepped into the exquisitely renovated home, we were in an aura of tranquility and refinement. Every facet of the house exuded a perfect blend of comfort, style, and charm. Every corner unveiled a new marvel, from the tastefully decorated living space to the impeccably appointed bedrooms. The location was perfect for our stay, with access to all the local parks and breweries we were looking to visit. The recommendations for eateries also helped us find another location we'll be sure to visit again.

We stayed the weekend at the Kitchen house at Firmstone Manor and are leaving more relaxed and restored than we could have hoped for, and we are already planning our next trip back. Situated away from the busyness of Lexington but close enough to get to any events, the fresh air and proximity to hiking trails had us spending lots of time outdoors and gave us excellent sleeps. The beds and linens are very high-quality at, and the whole interior is thoughtfully and carefully appointed. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners, Michael and Brian, and it’s clear that their top priority is to create easy, calming, and memorable stays for their guests. Upon entering, we were greeted with a vase of fresh flowers. local baked goods in the kitchen, and local juices, and beers in the fridge! When we travel as a family, we always need more than one bedroom and the nightly rate makes this an excellent value relative to adjoining rooms in a hotel. We cannot wait to return!

Perfect home base for adventure

With rain in the forecast we decided to cancel camping and look for alternate accommodations. We found the Kitchen House last minute and ideally located. It was the perfect home base for our biking adventures, central to the areas we wanted to visit. Brian was responsive and gave us a place to hose down and securely store our bikes. The cottage was clean and colorful – we had everything we needed – the local cider, craft beer, cookies and bread were unexpected and pretty much gone by the time we ended our stay. We will absolutely return if they'll have us.
