Central Craftsman Apartment

Tucked back from the street, and close to EVERYTHING Arcata has to offer, this one-bedroom craftsman apartment is ready to be your home-away-from-home.

The back-half of our craftsman bungalow was converted into a second unit sometime in the late 1970’s. Fans of that era will appreciate the vintage touches, like the kitchen and shower yet also appreciate the modern comforts of new furnishings and comfortable memory foam mattress. Need more space? The queen-sized sofa bed can open up to sleep two more.

The kitchen is fully stocked and the large shared yard has a propane fire pit to enjoy on warm Arcata evenings.

The unit shares a wall with the adjoining apartment and has a window to the garden, so you may hear noise from neighbors or from guests in the yard. If the noise is everbothersome, please let us know ASAP and we'll do our best to fix it.

On-site coin-op laundry accepts quarters($1.00 to wash and $1.50 to dry) sorry, no change machine on site.

For the courtesy of other guests and neighbors, quiet hours are between 9PM and 8AM. Please also make sure that all laundry is completed before 9PM.

Street parking only.Use the alley for loading and unloading only. Parked cars will be ticketed and towed.

Sweet, cozy space perfect for a couple. Walking distance to town square. Love the shared space behind the apartment. Absolutely gorgeous.

This pet-friendly unit is centrally located to many activities in Arcata. The square is walking distance, there is a market and drugstore directly across the street, it is not far from the Finnish tubs & sauna or the marsh. That being said, it is on a well-traveled street and across from a bus stop where people tend to gather. The beautifully-landscaped side yard offers plenty of space for your dog to explore, as well as a fire pit and seating area. This area is supposed to be communal for the two units, but its position across from the front unit's sliding door makes it seems intrusive to use if you are staying in the back. (my opinion).Last time we stayed at this property we were in the front house. To enter the back unit, you must walk down the alley and go through the gate. It is wide, well-lit and there is a place to pull over when unloading, but you must park on the street. Everything is as pictured and the hosts have anticipated your needs for a pleasant stay. (including access to laundry) That being said, the kitchen and bath are somewhat vintage and in need of updating. They are still quite serviceable; just don't expect granite and new appliances at this cost. We had a comfortable stay and will likely be return guests again while visiting our daughter.
