Our family loved this place! It was bigger than I expected. We enjoyed fly fishing and catching crawfish. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook at the cabin. The property was very peaceful. Sitting on the porch listening to the River was relaxing. Lots to do nearby. We shopped the antique stores in Westby and the farmers market in Viroqua. The host offered the bunk house that we didn’t end up needing but if I brought more people I would definitely add it on next time. The cabin flu fishing decorations were awesome. We hope to make it back in the future for more fly fishing!

This cabin is perfect for a a fishing getaway. It's nothing fancy, but it's comfortable and quiet. The back porch was perfect for an early coffee and post fishing drinks. And it's RIGHT ON THE RIVER! Will definitely be back.

This is such a cute little cabin. Loved hearing the water while sitting on the deck outside. Very quiet at night. The host was quick to respond to any questions I had and even brought me a hair dryer when I needed one.

In a truly spontaneous moment, I decided to take my 14 year old grandson to the Driftless Region for fly fishing, his latest obsession. I knew I couldn't be fussy about accommodations since I only started looking a couple days prior to our visit. Immediately upon arrival I realized we found a fly fishing haven. Not only is this cottage amazingly clean and comfortable, but the West Branch of the Kickapoo River is in the backyard. I was simply looking for a place to sleep while we explored the region. Instead, we spent more time fishing from the "backyard". When we did explore, our rental was an easy and scenic drive to Wildcat Mountain State Park and numerous fishing spots near Viroqua and other smaller communities. The cottage is very comfortable with a well-equiped kitchen, relaxing living room, a large dining area and two bedrooms with super-quality beds. We had great internet speeds (when needed) and a relaxing deck. The firepit near the river was a bonus! Plus, the place is a combination of a fly fishing library and fly tying educational center. Ok, so we didn't catch a lot of fish - this was not the time of year with the heat and lower water levels. But we caught enough to make us want to come back regularly. When a 14-year old tells everyone back home that this was one of the best vacations he ever had, this grandpa considers that a huge win. My next review of Kristyn's place will be after a fishing trip with 1 or 2 of us "old guys" as they're already asking.

Great getaway spot

Great place to stay with friends for an extended weekend. Enjoyed the cozy cabin, fishing on the property and the close proximity to our other favorite spots.

This was a very quaint, well kept little house, and it was perfect for our group and the best part was that it had a first class trout stream right in the backyard. And we actually caught a few fish. Loved this place and would like to go there again.

Great Fishing Cabin

Cozy, charming cabin in the driftless area

Was perfect for my fishing buddies and me over a weekend. Awesome rustic trout fishing decor. Definitely staying there again. Hidden gem of a cabin.

Fishing retreat

Cabin with an incredible amount of fishing decor meet our needs for a first visit to the area. The spring creeks and Amish farms were very nice to see. Only issues with the cabin was bedrooms upstairs and the bathroom downstairs was not the most convenient, and one packet of regular coffee and two of decaf meant a trip to the co-op in Viroqua for coffee.

2nd time around

@nd time around was just as good as the 1st. Rented this place in April and again in July for a weekend fishing trip. Perfect accommodations for fishing.

Had a great stay here. Perfect place for our 1st fly fishing trip. Place is clean and adequately furnished/supplied. Short drive to great fishing around the area as well as 10 minutes out of town. Host is super accommodating and even allowed us a few extra hours before check out on departure day to get a few more hours on the river.

End of summer getaway

My husband and I wanted a quiet getaway to end summer. This cabin fit the bill perfectly! We could relax and listen to the creek out back, watch wildlife and if the desire struck walk to the creek and fish. Will book again soon😁

The owners were there by phone to direct me to a local mechanic when we had car trouble. Really nice people. Cabin was excellent for the weekend. Could use a bit bigger hot water heater tho. lol

We enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out toward the river. No bugs to speak of in mid-June. We did try fishing in the Kickapoo River but no luck. Still a great way to end the day.

A cozy clean cabin in beautiful quiet setting. It’s on world class trout stream so there for decorated in a cute but cornball way with fishing fishing fishing as a theme. Big deck , off back & 2 good size bedrooms & nice big bathroom No TV but food WiFi . Very disappointing no fire pit or fire ring. ? Plenty of room , not sure why. The only negative is the dirty dusty musty living room windows , desperately need of being cleaned or better yet replaced. This a lovely spot

Cute but not what we anticipated

The property is cute and charming and just a few steps from the river. I was however dismayed when we turned on to the road to pull into the cabin to see two neighboring homes with old junk cars, beer cans and garbage everywhere. Luckily the houses on the side of the road with the cabin were nice and well kept. There were a lot of people coming and going from the junkyard houses but other than that it was a very peaceful and quiet stay. When we arrived and were exploring I stepped on the deck and tripped as one of the floor boards was rotted and gave way. No big deal that is not always obvious and happens. I planned to just let the host know. As we settled in we noticed the shower was not clean and had lots of soap scum and stains. There was also a frayed wire sticking out of the wall in the upstairs bedroom facing the river and signs on the outlets that said no equipment ground which made me even more concerned about the wire and use of outlets. I let the host know about these issues, and the response I got was that they had never had anyone tell them about these issues in all the years they had this property and it must be because they were trout fishermen who didn’t mind. They took no responsibility and simply just put it back on us as being too finicky. Look, it’s a cute kitschy place and clean save for the bathroom and was peaceful outside. But this place leaves some things to be desired. A little extra care would do some good.
