We loved the vibe and had a great time playing video games and records on the record player. The area is just gorgeous!!The train was unexpected but we sort of grew to like it!

Very unique experience, more furnishings than we expected. There are incredible books, challenging puzzles and various games. Nice selection of music…both records and CDs. The location is near railroad tracks which might concern some guests, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay overall.

Our experience was amazing. We did some exploring everyone waa very friendly was able to really relax. Look forward to another stay. If you're note numbers the address is very spot on. I had some very creative time.

Beautiful, fun stay in Dunsmuir

This is a great place to stay while visiting the Mt. Shasta area. The home is comfortable and beautifully decorated with tons of fun games and books, and the outside space is peaceful and convenient. Great place to stay!

Ms. Dole is a local realtor in the area (Redding, CA) whose colleague owns several vacation rentals near ours. The fact she did not communicate with us and checked out only an hour after checking in makes us think her goal was subterfuge and sabotage. She is not welcome back.

My husband and I were excited to take a relaxing vacation and we were not disappointed. We loved the charm and homey feel of the space. There were so many unique touches to the home and amenities that made our anniversary vacation truly special. We will definitely be coming back.

The place was clean and organized, with plenty to do! There was so many cool puzzles! There was also a collection of pamphlets of all the things you can do and see in Dunsmuir. It was beautiful, and my hubby and i had an amazing getaway, just cuddling together and spending quality time together. Thank you!!!

Perfect!

This cute, well decorated, older home provided the perfect R & R space. The host was friendly and very responsive. My wife and I had such a great time, we can't wait to come back.

James, his partner, and their and dog Ziggy were perfect guests. They were very respectful of our space and left if extremely clean. He was very responsive to requests and easily followed directions. We would host James and his family again anytime. 🙂

Fun and peaceful

We loved staying at this throw back in time mini castle. I was in heaven with the classic vinyl and arcade games. A perfect peaceful location. A walk to the brewery behind the house. Trees and a walk to the sac river. Absolutely loved it and will be back.

We recently spent three wonderful nights at Dena's charming vacation rental in Dunsmuir, and our experience exceeded all expectations.From the start, Dena was incredibly helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable. Her directions were clear and easy to follow, making our arrival stress-free. I had mentioned that this trip was a birthday getaway for my husband and me, so we were delighted to arrive and find birthday banners and fresh flowers waiting for us. Such a thoughtful and unexpected touch!The home was exactly as advertised—clean, comfortable, and filled with eclectic décor that perfectly complemented its historic character. It had a nostalgic, retro charm that made it both unique and inviting.We enjoyed strolling through the quaint streets of Dunsmuir, dining at several local restaurants, and meeting friendly, welcoming people where ever we went. The town itself is a hidden gem, and Dena's home was the perfect place from which to enjoy it.We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay and would happily return. Thank you, Dena, for helping make our birthday trip so memorable!

Our stay here in Dunsmuir was exactly what I had hoped it would be. The little house is great, clean and comfortable with a good energy-feel. We were apprehensive at first about the waterbed (we're in our fifties) - it was firm and comfortable as one should be. Walking distance to eats and arts. Right at the foot of Shasta... who could ask for more. Dena was great, friendly and welcoming. Thank you, great stay. We'll stay here again when we're back to Shasta!

Cozy and comfortable

This house is filled with entertainment for all family members. It was nice to have easy access to the home and parking right outside. For cold weather which it was, there is a nice fireplace and an extra heater for the bedroom. Thanks for a great visit!

Our stay in Dunsmuir

The house felt like home! We were so comfortable, the waterbed was wonderful and we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back soon. Oh and the music selection was great! Thank you so much for sharing the house!

Comfortable, Clean, good location

My stay was for work but, turns out this House is a great place to stay while exploring the surrounding Northern California Cascade range or fishing the upper Sacramento River. It is conveniently located close to restaurants and shops in downtown. Also If you love trains you will love this rock Castle nestled into the side hill of this friendly town. House is filled with personality and you can tell was made to share with allot of love. Dena was an excellent host and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Wonderful fun experience

Great for those who like old classic board games and arcade games, puzzles, and just want a comfortable place to relax. There is a train that comes through a few times a day very close, which was loud, but was also just another novelty of this property. It was a truly incredible stay and we will be back! :)

Retro Relaxing Stay!

We loved our stay with Hiker's Haven! It's exactly as described with retro feel, waterbed, record player, and a bit of hipster vibe. I found the Redbone Record and played "Come on get Your Love" on the record player. I loved the charm, and my 16 year old daughter had me playing board games. Truly a fond experience. Thank you!

Quirky and cozy

We really enjoyed our stay at this cute and cozy place. Owners communicated with us to ensure they knew our arrival time so they could get the stove going and warm the place up! The waterbed was a unique experience, nice and warm and quite comfortable. Playing arcade games brought back fun memories. Had cream in the fridge for our morning coffee. Highly recommend if you are passing through!
