We just returned from an incredible stay at this Maui rental, and it met every expectation! The highlight was definitely the amazing view—watching humpback whales breaching right from the property during peak whale season was truly magical and unforgettable. We spent hours on the lanai with coffee in hand, spotting spouts and tails flipping in the ocean. What a special experience!The condo itself was equipped for a comfortable, hassle-free stay. The kitchen had plenty of cookware, dishes, and even a great selection of spices plus a few thoughtful pantry items left behind by previous guests (thank you!). We appreciated the trash bags, paper products, and tons of towels provided—everything we needed was right there.Practical touches made daily life so easy: an amazing amount of hooks for hanging damp towels, swimsuits, and beach gear after a day in the water; tons of hangers in the closets; and best of all, a washer and dryer that we used without any issues.AC was great (though hardly needed thanks to the breezes), the beds were comfortable, and our one minor issue was resolved by the host right away—no hassle at all!This place felt like a true home away from home while giving us front-row seats to Maui’s natural wonders.

This particular unit had incredible views from the lanai. Whale sightings were frequent and became one of the highlights of our trip. Swimming beaches are accessible by walking, and overall, the complex is in a convenient location. It is well-mantained with spacious pool and hot tub areas. We did experience an issue with the refrigerator during our stay, and although ultimately it could not be corrected while we were there, this was not a reflection of the owner's attempts to address the issue. Communication with Nicole was positive and timely, and she made every effort to offer solutions. In the end, she kindly reimbursed us to compensate for the matter. We would gladly stay again, should we be privileged enough to visit Maui again in the future.

Absolutely beautiful view of the ocean.

The condo is right on the ocean. You can hear the waves crashing against the shoreline. Beautiful sunsets and rainbows right on the balcony.

Breathtaking views!!

Breathtaking views from this beach/ocean front unit also situated just steps away from the pool and hot tub. We were there during whale season and watched all the action right from the lanai. The resort is kept very clean and the staff is extremly friendly. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and playing in the ocean. Made great family memories!!

Amazing views and perfect location

We absolutely loved our stay at this location. Waking up to the ocean and seeing the whales breach every morning was the highlight of our trip. The location is fantastic with lots of restaurants, food trucks, shops, and stores within a 10-minute walk. It’s also close to great beaches! Only downside was the A/C was out of order when we arrived. But the owner was quick to respond and accommodating.

Better than imagined

My 6th trip to Maui and this room is the best so far. Its simple, yet offers the best view that I've seen yet. The resort doesn't offer a ton of amenities, but that keeps it less busy and more peaceful. I absolutely loved it! Plenty of shopping, coffee and restaurants in walking distance.

Right on the water!

Overall a very nice unit. Location and view are amazing. Remodeled showers are nice. My son slept on the new soda bed(I gave it a test and most comfortable sofa bed I've ever laid on). Overall decor is a bit dated and lacking but is priced accordingly and being a corner unit with one of the best views in the entire complex makes up for that.

The view was a 12/10. I would stay here again just for the view. The condo was a little tired with it's furnishing etc. and encountered bugs. This was our 3rd stay at the Papakea Resort and love this resort. I will say that this condo was the best supplied that we have stayed in except for soap and toilet paper. Would have loved having a tv in the bedroom, but not a deal breaker. The owner was great at communication and checking in and out was super easy. I would give this a good rating. There is a lot to do just staying at the resort, but a lot of things nearby also. Good supplied kitchen.

A great place for a family with teens… on the water!

We had a fantastic stay with our 15 and 17 year old daughters. While the unit isn’t as updated as others it’s clean, comfy and the beds are comfortable! Who needs top of the line ($$$) when you’re hardly home! The corner unit provides wonderful views of the resort, turtles swimming by, sunsets, you name it. The a/c units were so helpful in the evening for swimming. Papakea itself is really nice. We wished we had more time to utilize all its amenities. We did get a chance to go to the lei making class which was fun. The pools are really nice and…shuffleboard! Nicole was easy to work with leading up to our trip. Basic amenities are provided along with leftover nonperishable foods/spices. That was super helpful. Plenty of tp, laundry detergent, dish soap, paper towels, etc. This is a great choice for your Maui stay!

Amazing views!!!

The views from this unit are amazing, whales non stop! The beds and linens could use an upgrade. And we were a bit disappointed that there was a note on the washer requesting we wash and dry our linens and towels before we left. We did do it but I think we should have been made aware ahead of time so we could have planned our last couple days better. Overall it was a great trip.

Excellent condo! We couldn’t get any closer to the water!

This condo is amazing! One bedroom with two beds in the lofted area, plus a pull out couch. We did travel with a toddler and rented a baby gate to keep him from going to the loft. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed. Nicole was wonderful to communicate with and was incredibly prompt and friendly. The property is wonderful with lots of options for activities. We will definitely be staying at Papakea again! Thank you, Nicole, for sharing your condo with us!

Average, not special

It was worth the price considering other condos are a lot more expensive. No photos of the master bedroom means the room is at the back of the condo in a cave with no decorations, no light switches, a flickering table lamp, and a shaky, plastic covered double bed. If you're coming to Maui, find a condo with a beach. This complex pretends to have a beach but it doesn't. Air conditioning is weak and makes constant noise. Portable air unit is so loud, you can't hear the waves. Only one TV in living room. This place isn't terrible, just an old, average unit. Oh, and the remodeled bathrooms are okay. The bowl sinks wobble and the stone shower floors hurt your feet.

One of the best views in the place!

Our experience was nice even through we were there during the biggest rains! It came in so hard hrough our window and seals and made a mess to clean up. The condo has been around for a long time and needs some work. It would have been nice to have laundry detergent and dish washing soap available for the amenities advertized. We had to go out and buy some to clean up the towels. Although the owner was responsive in handling out situation, no one showed up. The rest of the trip was enjoyable and there are a lot of places to eat near by. Our favorites were the food trucks! Staff were all very nice and it's a very quiet place. We saw whales off the paito that was magical!! We might consider staying somewhere next time that has some sort of bar or place to get a drink without leaving the resort but you can't beat the view!

Cute place and amazing views!

My family and I loved staying at this property. It was just the right size for my family. It was stocked with everything you need such as kitchen appliances, plates, silverware, pots and pans, utensils, towels, boogie boards, snorkeling gear and rafts. Nicole was so accommodating! We asked to extend our stay for a week and she did everything she could to make it as easy as possible! Will definitely be staying here again.
