House was very well-appointed. Nice layout for sharing fun space with family. Gorgeous location on a serene lake. Close to beach towns if that is part of the plan. Communication with host was clear! Wonderful stay all around!

This house was better than I had hoped. Beautiful, clean, basically on top of the lake. The hosts were delightful, and they even provided a welcome basket of foods we enjoyed.

Herons Cove! What a magical place! From check-in to check-out, everything was absolutely wonderful. Julia greeted us with clear instructions and a delicious treat upon arrival. Every detail was so thoughtfully planned and intentional. I chose Herons Cove as the place to get ready for my wedding, and it made what could have been a very stressful weekend feel so easy and seamless. We’re incredibly grateful to have been welcomed into such a special place to get ready and make memories we’ll cherish forever. Thank you for making our wedding weekend even more magical!

What a great property/location. We had one minor issue with the washing machine that was immediately addressed. Communication with the owner was outstanding and the lake is just beautiful. It’s the perfect place to get away from everything and to just kick back, relax and let the stress melt away.

Our stay at Heron Cove created memories for us,our children and our grandchildren Absolutely beautiful lake views from inside the house and outside on the decks.Great Fun at the dock and the floating pad.Kayaks , Islands and FishingThe kitchen is fabulous : island with barstools, table and chairs, all with a Wonderful View.Relaxing living room area.Comfortable beds Master suite is spa like.All in all ,we will be back

The host was very lovely and attentive. The home was charming and well organized with everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable and the blackout Shades were greatly appreciated . The lake views were spectacular! Relaxing on the deck was truly an amazing experience. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back sometime in the future!

We had such a wonderful stay at Down the Lake! My three sisters and I were looking for a peaceful place to spend a week together, relax, catch up, and make some memories—and this was the perfect spot.The home was beautiful, comfortable, and spotless, with gorgeous views of the lake. The lake and neighborhood were so quiet and peaceful. We loved kayaking, lounging on the Rubber Dockie, watching the hummingbirds zoom around the deck, and ending our evenings making s’mores around the firepit.Julia was a wonderful host—kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. She even arranged an allergy-free baked goods tray for us, which was such a thoughtful touch, and gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area. We ventured out for the seafood buffet at Nordic Lodge, enjoyed a night at the drive-in, and took a drive to Old Mystic for some shopping, but we were always happy to come back to the lake.It was exactly the relaxing sisters’ getaway we were hoping for. We had a wonderful week together and left with some very special memories. We would absolutely recommend Down the Lake and would love to return!

Our family stayed here for a week. Location is perfect for a quiet family getaway with plenty of things to do within a short drive to keep you busy. We spent plenty of time on the lake with the "toys" provided and loved it. The house has everything you need and the greeting basket of fresh baked goods was a nice bonus. Would highly recommend

Absolutely loved our stay here! The calm, serene views over the lake were the perfect backdrop for morning coffee (and sunset beer). We enjoyed kayaking across the calm lake with autumnal backdrop. Plus, the location couldn’t be better—close enough to explore the charming local towns but still wonderfully private and relaxing.The property was clean and well maintained just like in the photos, and the private dock was perfect for boating.Thank you for sharing this beautiful slice of lakeside paradise with us. We left refreshed, happy, and already dreaming of coming back!

Great house on a beautiful lake. The lake was warm and nice change from the freezing ocean nearby. We loved all the outdoor amenities and trips to “blueberry island” on the kayaks. Full kitchen was perfectly stocked to make dinners to enjoy al-fresco each evening. No cell service but strong WiFi made it a non-issue.

Hosts and location

The hosts of this property went above and beyond the call of duty to welcome us. This property has a great setting and absolutely everything needed for a great stay. Lakefront with all the toys (water toys, fire-pit, s'mores box etc)

This place is absolutely amazing! Julia met us at the property and kindly greeted us and showed us around the home and property. The pictures dont do this place justice. The lake is your backyard! And its just beautiful. Hummingbirds popping around. There is even a bald eagle that resides on the lake and was ever present with us while we were there. The eagle was flying all over the lake as if protecting it. Was amazing to see. A very large Heron also occuppies this space. If kayaking, grilling, lounging, and relaxing is what you are after, this is the place for that. Super clean and super great hosts! I will be back!!!!Corey

Weekend getaway

Perfect house to relax with friends! Enjoyed all that North Stonington had to offer. The house is absolutely beautiful and has all the amenities of home. We can’t wait to go back!

The perfect family vacation right on the lake!!. What a wonderful home with its own private dock, kayaks, lots of fish and so much more. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with wine and yummy treats. This place has everything for the family in the most peaceful setting and we absolutely loved every minute. We were all sad to leave and can’t wait to stay here again. You will not be disappointed.

Amazing

Our family had a great week at the lake! So relaxing and peaceful. Julia and Cherie were quick to respond to any questions we had, the house was clean and very well stocked. We all enjoyed the hummingbirds, the deck, the hours of entertainment on the lake, and the view can’t be beat! We absolutely love the area and will definitely be back!

Lovely Lake Retreat

My girlfriends and I stayed at this beautiful lakefront home. You feel the history, charm, and love that Julia and Sherry have put into this home. They warmly greeted us at check in and left us fresh baked goods. The home has a beautiful view of the lake, fully stocked with all the essentials, and very clean! I can't wait to come back for another stay. We all give the home and the hosts 5 STARS.

Fantastic lake stay, little thoughtful extra details exceeded all expectations!

My two sons and I stayed at the lake house for a week in July. The house is beautifully decorated and every inch of it has been planned out for supreme enjoyment. What a beautiful place to relax. We spent the days kayaking, swimming and floating around in a tube. We spent the evening fishing, watching the wildlife and later catching up front seats to meteor showers. I very much look forward to returning for another lake vacation to repeat this ultimate experience.

The house is spectacular. The hosts are absolutely fabulous and the personal check in is above and beyond other places we have stayed. Beautiful property !

My family and I had an amazing stay at this beautiful lake house! The house is impeccable, it’s clean and has everything you could want for adults and kids alike. I love all the labels everywhere so there’s no question what the light switches do or where anything is. The lake is so serene and peaceful. We really enjoyed swimming and kayaking . It’s far enough away that you’re not crowded with people but close enough to any activities . We will definitely keep this house in mind if we vacation there again!

Autumn at the Lake House

What a memorable stay on the lake with the family. Bundled up with a hot coffee at sunrise on the deck listening to acorns hit the water and watching the leaves fall on the lake. The house has a lot of little extras. Quality sheets and towels, and the hosts are very thoughtful with little extras, like coffee and fresh fruit. The bonfires at night were perfect with the cool air.

Great location, very relaxing

Had a great time with my family before sending our kids off to college, and celebrating a milestone birthday. Great property with a fun history that is outlined in some of the artwork and books around the house. Had plenty of upgraded amenities and was perfect for a family getaway, or quick trip away from home. It may seem off the beaten path, but there's quick access to local stores. Seems like a really great community. One of the locals stopped by to give us a dozen fresh eggs, and plenty of others boated by on the water to wave hi. Absolutely give it a try.

An incredible hidden gem! Extremely close to all area attractions (Mystic, Foxwoods, new Great Wolf lodge, Westerly beach, vineyards, breweries, organic farms) yet the home is secluded in the woods beside the warmest clearest lake. Kayak and fish, take in the sun and stars! Large sturdy dock and sandy yard side water edge for kids to wade in. The house has everything needed for cooking meals, hosting friends/fam, to frolicking in the lake. Hosts are generous and communicative, provided detailed info about the area. Super clean, spacious, multiple separate areas, uncluttered, so restful. Tons of hummingbirds. A week to remember!!

Want to go back NOW!

We had the best time at the "cottage!" Beautifully updated home where an older family cottage used to be. Everything is new and spectacular. The view is just stunning. The beds are so comfortable. The furnishings are wonderful. Everything is so clean! This place is definitely a gem in the woods, but close to restaurants, the casino, and all kinds of amenities. Relatively quick drive to Mystic, Westerly, and the shore. And the owners are the nicest people who met us at the home and answered any questions we had during our stay. Will DEFNITELY be back.

Down by the lake

Our stay was wonderful from beginning to end, even though the weather did not cooperate on the last couple of days. Julia met us on site and gave us key pointers about the home and layout. She also shared great ideas about local places to go. The house was impeccably clean and had everything we needed. The lakewater was refreshing and very clean. It was awesome going out for morning kayak and paddle boarding, and even more fun hanging around on the floats in the midday sun. The birdwatching was beyond phenomenal. There is a resident bald eagle that will swoop down over the lake - he’s absolutely majestic! His name is Baldy. There’s also this sweet little hummingbird which, that will actually perch on the deck wire. If you need a place to run away and decompress, you’ll find it here. Highly recommended.
