This property is adorable. The furnishings are very nice and period specific. The kitchen and washer & dryer are modern. The location is convenient to many places of interest. The host responds promptly to questions. We were elderly women visiting the area for a surprise BD party.We looked forward to watching a movie as we relaxed in the evening. We had a difficult time utilizing the LR TV. The particular remote to the main TV was not found. Bedroom TVS were easy to use. Soaps, shampoo were supplied but were not easily evident.

Beyond Welcoming !!! Pulled up the school house light up, candles in windows, bell tower light up, wreath on the doors and spot light on the building. Started our Christmas off right. Love the decor. Lots of history on the walls.

Wonderful, amazing house!

This is such a unique space- like staying in a comfy museum! Amazing fireplace, soaking tub, modern kitchen- great period details. We loved ringing the schoolbell and petting the goats and pig! Hope to come back soon!

Lovely Historic Home

If you are looking for a unique home in a nice quiet setting look no further. This is the perfect place tor a small family to enjoy. Everything was simple and easy with checking in and out. The home itself was quite clean and cozy. Tiverton has some nice shops and the absolute best breakfast foods at Groundswell. We look forward to visiting again.

Excellent escape

We were coming from the hustle and bustle of NYC and this was the perfect spot to decompress and slow down again on our vacation. The beach nearby was fantastic, the restaurants and ice cream were delicious and the house was spotless, fun and well appointed. The goats and a pig to visit on the farm were icing on the cake. Highly recommend!

Family vacation

We loved our stay at the school house! It was a great home base while visiting family. It’s a great location - remote but also close to some great restaurants and shops. The property is in need of a little TLC and a good deep cleaning. Probably hard to get to when so many people want to stay there! Our daughter enjoyed staying in the bunk beds and alternated back and forth each night between the top and bottom bunk! The antiques and history in the property was really cool - the house was a little history museum.

Loved it, loved it, loved it!!

It was perfect for our trip. We were visiting Providence and Rhode Island. The property was well maintained and clean. The bed was so comfortable. The house had everything thing we needed and more. We had excellent meals at two resurants near by. The Four corners grill and The Boat House. However, we were sorry we did not get to explore the grounds because of the rainy weather. Thank you Kristen for sharing your unique property with us

A dive into history

The object is diligently and charmingly renovated, and many rare 19th century artifacts and pictures are on display inside the property. It is very quiet and peaceful, yet the attractions of Rhode Island are not far away. And a nice café is just half a mile down the street... Overall: a great location for us. Only thing to note: 19th century houses do not have large windows, in general. That, together with the dark paint to the walls of most rooms make it a little dim inside.

An incredible experience!

It was a treat and a delight to stay in this beautifully decorated and repurposed schoolhouse. As a former school teacher, daughter of a school teacher, and lover of one-room schoolhouses, I've been in heaven each time we've stayed here! How many people have the opportunity to stay in an 1800's schoolhouse? We are very grateful to Kristin and Adam for sharing this beauty with all of us. They have done an incredible job inside and outside! On one of our days this time, the weather was perfect to eat outdoors on the patio and soak up some sunshine which was a treat in April. Everything about our stay was thoroughly enjoyable and wonderful. Thanks, Kristin! We look forward to our next trip to Tiverton!

It was perfect!!

I always book the rental for our sisters’ trip and this one got me a big thumbs up! The home is just as it is pictured online. This rental was very well stocked. In addition to providing fresh eggs and a great selection of coffee; there were other essentials like butter, salt and sugar. The host is also very responsive. I rent using Homeaway several times a year and I have never had a host contact me shortly after check in to make sure we settle in ok or had any questions – how nice! The home is filled with historical items with descriptions under many of them which we enjoyed. The home (school) may be old but it is very comfortable and a unique rental. I would highly recommend this rental property and this host.

We had a beautiful trip that set the stage for a smooth transition to college for our son. We were relaxed and comfortable. The hosts are available and helpful. The schoolhouse is fantastic.

A step back in time

The schoolhouse was adorable ... A step back in time for sure with all the modern day convenience. The house was clean and supplied with everything we needed for our stay. Contactless Check-in was simple and appreciated. The town had beautiful shops, a small market and wonderful places to eat and get ice cream. Although we had a hard time finding Queenie :) we finally spotted her on our way out of town! (At least we hoped it was her or we were trespassing playing with someone else's pig ) overall couldn't have picked a better place to stay for our visit to the area.

Charming!

We were visiting our grandsons and thought it would be fun to stay in a schoolhouse with them. The 6 year old was so interested in looking at the books showing schoolhouses of the past as we’re we! Loved the house, it’s authentic school bell, the pretty location and Queenie, the pig. She was charming as well! Walked to Four Corners for coffee, pastries and later had ice cream. Great playground a short drive away. Can’t wait to return soon. Thank you!

Amazing Place!

Definitely one of the nicest properties we have stayed in. Communication was super easy, and the schoolhouse is beautifully appointed. Modern amenities blend perfectly with the carefully restored historic building, and the antique school desks, books, tools, etc. on display. The farm coast area is stunningly beautiful. Highly recommend the cliff walk in Newport and coffee at Groundswell (NB: they are closed on Monday though!). Definitely make the walk (cross the backyard next door) to visit Queenie the pig, who is a real charmer.

Charming location

Everything about our stay from booking the property to touring the area was easy and fun. Found lots of fun things to do in Portsmouth and Newport. And Tiverton area was delightful. The property was charming with history and very up to date at the same time. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Relaxing Stay

My husband and I loved staying at Schoolhouse No 1 and embracing the peaceful surroundings. This is a very convenient location if you like to walk to the coffee shop and shops, etc.

Cute cottage

We loved the schoolhouse! Updated kitchen and bath as well as a spacious living room. Great location to Tiverton shops and restaurants. We will be back!

The highlight of our trip.

We toured the New England states, with Rhode Island last on our list. The schoolhouse was SO cute and everything inside was very nice. Our children loved this location the most because of the schoolhouse and the nearby farm animals (they had to visit several times a day). It is such a unique property, that it is sure to stay in our memories forever. We highly recommend it!
