We loved staying here. Mike is an extremely generous host, even providing firewood. It's right on the river and close to everything we wanted to see.

As advertised and reviewed. Very few surprises. Host extremely generous with knowledge of area. River view and surrounding mountains are excellent. Perfect home base for outdoor adventures. Tech was flawless if you must log on.

Can’t stay enough good things about this property. The location was fantastic, the home was very clean, everything we needed for cooking was available. Host had great communication from start to finish. Would definitely book again if was to visit the area again.

We like the place so much we came back for a second spring break on the river. Kayaking, reading, ball games, board games, card games, camp fires, reading, just a great break from work and school.

Great stay

We (2 adults 2 dogs) loved our stay. The house has a great layout and uses the space well. We had everything we needed and host offered some great suggestions for area hiking and activities.

We couldn't have found a better spot to use as base for our fishing trip. Great character and amenities. The host was very communicative.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Great location along the river where we could trout fish. The ammendities were great. Everyone was impressed we plan to use it again next year 18 to 21 June 2026.

Jackson River Family Camp

Exactly as described: beautiful, large, comfortable, and well appointed cabin, with kayaks and raft for guest use. We loved fishing the river during the day and having campfires at night. Owner was incredibly helpful during our entire stay. Highly recommend this property!

Wonderful Getaway

We enjoyed the river front, fishing, boating and making smores. The host provided everything we needed. Wished the middle bedroom was a bit larger but the sofa was comfortable, master bedroom was spacious, and the loft was perfect for the kids.

We had come to the area for a summer camp reunion. Property was great. House very well equipped. Very clean and well maintained. Great access to the Jackson River! Will definitely book again.

Spring Break

Two parents and our four children and a family dog booked Spring Break in March. We had a great time experiencing the out doors from hiking to stand up paddle boarding on Lake Moomaw to kayaking down the Jackson River to reading on hammocks by the river and camp fires at night. Our host left excellent information on the area and was easy to contact.

Floating with our fur babies

This property is amazing!! The property offers floaty fun days by the creek. Our dogs enjoyed the property with easy water access. The cabin is beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need for a stay. I highly recommend the property and the owners were very resourceful about the area and floating spots.

3 Generations visit

This was our 2nd stay at the Jackson River house. It is the best place to forget the 95° heat. The grandkids loved the kayaks and the swings. Papa and Nana liked sitting in chairs with our feet in the river. We went to Lake Moomaw-very nice and quiet. We will be back!!

Lovely peaceful location & kind owners

Mike has been great to work with. We rented his cabin for an extended stay. It’s easy to tell that the home is loved by his family. The accommodations are clean, spacious and comfortable. The scenery is beautiful. Would highly recommend for a VA getaway! Just several miles from the Homestead. Thanks for sharing your 2nd home with us!
