This charming house is nestled in beautiful oak forest at the end of a residential street and features first-floor living with a loft that provides a third semi-private bedroom or TV room, as well as space for exercising, working or reading. Hours of walking trails, leading to and through, the Eno River State Park await you at the top of the driveway!
The home is an easy 10-minute drive from Duke University and has all the comforts of home including two queen-size sleep number beds (one with a trundle), blackout curtains in both bedrooms, exercise equipment, charging stations and a well-stocked kitchen complete with spices and staples and more. Bed linens and towels provided. Simply arrive and unpack!
Enjoy a forest view or the occasional sound of rain through the large skylights in the high ceiling above the open living/dining area as well as forest views through every window in the home and from the two private decks. Snuggle up in the evenings as you watch a free movie from Amazon Prime on one of three smart TV s. Be near, but feel far, from everything in this private space ideal for retreats, family vacations or visits to Duke Medical Center.
A few more details: The primary bedroom has a queen-size Sleep Number bed, and a private, enclosed deck off the back of the house. The second bedroom has a Smart TV, a queen-size bed Sleep Number bed with a sateen comforter set, and a twin-size trundle bed with a high-quality 8" mattress for which linens can be provided upon request.
The 400-square-foot loft has a large forest-view skylight and is outfitted with two desks and reading chairs, as well as a queen-size IKEA sofa bed, which can be set up as a third semi-private bedroom upon request (this space is separated from the rest of the loft by a door and lattice wall). A twin air mattress, a pack-n-play and a crib are also available upon request (small fee applies for crib set up). The kitchen is fully equipped with all that you need to enjoy cooking and baking during your stay (including a side-by-side refrigerator, a glass-top stove/oven, a dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster and basic pantry items such as salt and pepper, spices, flour, sugar, brown sugar, olive oil, basic condiments, tea, honey, and coffee to start your first morning).
This home is ideal for travelers joined by a small dog or two, visiting scholars, couples and families, parents visiting adult children at Duke, patients and families visiting or receiving treatment at Duke Medical Center (ask about our discounts for medical visits), solo travelers and anyone seeking peaceful time in a beautiful setting.
We welcome families with small children--a play area in the side yard includes a small slide, a children's picnic table and a sand box. A gate for the bottom of the stairs, a high chair, and children's toys and books are available upon request.
