Matt, I am sorry you feel that you had a bad experience while staying in our home. When you arrived at Ocean Lakes without your paperwork, I immediately called the front desk to get you registered without delay. You wanted to check into the home early because your 2 year old does not like the car seat and I was able to allow you to check in upon arrival, 2 ½ hours early. The key was not left in the lockbox, however, there was another key available for you to enter the home without delay. The golf cart was not fully charged since you arrived early. You told me that the refrigerator was not working when you arrived. I asked you to wait a few hours to let it cool down since it had just been cleaned and you arrived early. You called me with an update almost every hour. Since you felt that it was not working that evening, I left at 5:00 am the next morning to drive down and replace it. When I was halfway there, you called to say that it was working and I returned home; a 4 hour round trip. You could not get the smoke detector to stop beeping. You tried to replace the battery without success. I asked you to remove it from the ceiling since there are 2 smoke detectors in the hall. The next renter noticed the missing smoke detector, found it, and replaced the battery without any issues. You called one afternoon to say that your brother-in-law was almost at Ocean Lakes and you wanted me to authorize entry for him. He was not part of the original party but I allowed him to join you without question and called the office immediately to arrange for him to get through the gate. Our caretaker has never smelled urine in the home before and called us with concern. That is why I asked you if you had brought a pet, since we do not allow pets. The caretaker cleaned the area of concern. There were no problems with the drains in the tubs prior to your arrival and the drains were broken when you left. I mailed your deposit in full, on schedule, per your contract, to the address on the contract. When you did not receive it in the timeframe you expected, you told me that you had moved and had not advised me ahead of time. I received the letter back as “Return to Sender”. I mailed your deposit again to your new address. That is why it took over a month for you to receive your deposit. Again, I am sorry that you were not happy with your stay in our home or the level of communication. I answered your every call and text and do not know how I could have communicated more.
