Egmont Stay

Perfect Thanksgiving with friends in Egmont. Mike's property is stunning and had everything that we needed to cater for our group over the weekend.

A great on-water property for vacation

This place located in a very peaceful and quiet place, especially right on the water. It has its own dock and our kids enjoyed it very much. Small fish, starfish and jellyfish everywhere. We paddle boarded a lot to the closest light house with lots of seals there. The hose has a very unique setting with 4 bedrooms including one loft bedroom right above the kitchen. One bathroom inside and another one can be assessed only from outside but attached to the house. The fireplace is right face to the ocean and beautiful starry sky is right above our head. Mike answers questions very quickly. We enjoyed every bit of the house. Highly recommended it very much.

The view and access to the water was amazing. Bioluminescence, orcas and great canoeing.

Fun on the dock

Spectacular setting right on the water. The kids loved catching shiners from the dock as well as starfish, jellyfish, and sea cucumbers. (All returned safely to their watery home). One family of three, including the 11-year-old had no problem climbing the ladder to sleep in the kitchen loft. Nice big lawn in front of the house for the kids to play. Great family outing on guided kayak tour from Egmont Adventures next door.

Memorable get away

Mike has a great, quiet place with a beautiful view. Property is very well maintained and was everything we expected it to be. We were able to bring our boat with us and tie it to the dock enabling us to explore and fish daily with some great advice from Mike on where to go. I’d absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet wilderness getaway

Great week with the family

Mike was a great host. Helpful and responsive but not intrusive in any way. The accommodations were as advertised. Spectacular views, lots of wildlife around including deer, eagles, seals, and even Orcas swimming by the house. We did a fun half day fishing trip around the area with Mike and he was very knowledgeable. Lots of warm swimming lakes around if you want a change from the ocean views. Great place for a family get away. Will definitely go back.

Beautiful Location

Beautiful location, lovely little cabin. Mike was great to deal with, a few little hiccups with the lofts but overall a great stay.

Be careful with the listing.

We were a group of 8 adults looking for a nice place to spend the winter holidays. "Nice" was important, and we chose the listing by pictures and reviews. The good: Location is good. The place is clean. The host was responsive. Those rooms that are on the photos are as good as in the pictures, except you need to place a metal ladder in the middle of the dining room. The bad: In winter, for adults, this is NOT quite a 4-bedroom 2-bathroom place. The second bathroom is outside, you can walk there through weather but you would not use the shower. The 4th "bedroom" aka "kitchen loft" is a small attic above the kitchen, accessible with a construction ladder. There is not enough head space to place a bed rather than a mattress, let alone allow an adult to stand up. This was not reflected in the description, and that loft was not in the pictures. Could be fine for a bunch of kids - think for yourself. We had to place there the youngest couple, exactly the people looking for the nice place. Nuisance for them, and a huge embarrassment for myself.

Beautiful location and view

Great location with beautiful wilderness. Unique house with ocean view. Owner very accommodating. Neat pub nearby and the Skookumchuck Narrows is really close.

Terrific location, property, and host

What a great time we had. The location is right on the ocean with an amazing view, green space to play around with the kids, and a big deck to take it all in. Mike was a fantastic host, very responsive and happy to help and suggest places to check out. We also did a fishing charter with him and brought in some great salmon along with some spot prawns for a seafood feast. The house is well equipped and cozy, 2 bedrooms on main, plus a loft with a king size bed and single cot, as well as another loft (accessible by ladder) with 3 single cots. We also roasted marshmallows on the ocean bluff with a propane fire pit (due to camp fire ban). Lots of parking available and you're close to the Egmont Marina as well as the Back Eddy Pub. Lots to see and do in the area, with many lakes a short drive away. Highly recommend the property as well as the host!

Amazing cabin on water's edge.

Confortable and functional cabin on the northern tip of sunshine coast. Exceptional host who made our short stay very fun. Great boating fishing and hiking near by. Nice place for 2 to 3 days. Mike went out of his way to get us the most of our two days there. Highly recommend for a family.

Gem in Egmont

We had a fabulous stay in Egmont. We were two families of four and the house accommodated us all comfortably. It was clean, organized and very very well equipped. Mike was so accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. Our kids loved fishing and swimming off the dock. We had a boat along with us which allowed us to explore some of the more remote gems the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Princess Louisa Inlet is worth the trek! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this rental or to come back again.

Our wonderful week in Egmont

Stayed at Mike's property from July 23-30 2023. Property was easy to find and very easy check in as Mike met us at the property and walked us through a few items. We quickly unpacked and settled into the comfortable house. The property sits right on the ocean and the views are wonderful, we easily kayaked from the dock with easy access to the water. The area is extremely quiet which i loved, not crazy amounts of activity just peaceful. I can go on and on about the area as it is wonderful. Our host Mike was great, we all hit it off and had some great conversation and it felt like Mike was part of the family. Mike took us out on his pontoon boat to the rapids which was quit the experience and he made sure none of us would forget the ride as everyone on the boat got a little wet lol. We also went on a couple of hikes in the area but wish we had more time to further explore. So in ending a wonderful property with a great host, and we hopefully will get another opportunity to stay there again and visit with Mike again 😊.

Amazing trip

We were a family of 8 and 3 generations celebrating a milestone birthday. At every stage of our trip from planning to our last day, we had great communication with Mike. He answered all our questions and made excellent suggestion to make our trip memorable. Our stay was beyond our expectations and this was mainly due to Mike and his support every step of the way. The property was clean and well stocked and what a view! Thank you Mike for making our trip so very special.

A gem of a spot

What a perfect rental! The true beauty of the Sunshine Coast is understood fully after a stay at Mike’s rental. The property was well set up for a group, it was private, and Mike made everything easy for us. We brought a boat and it was such a treat to have ocean access from a good dock right on the property. We will be back!

Not exactly as advertised

Let me say firstly that Mike our host was as accommodating as he could be. The view was spectacular. The pictures on the listing are likely from when they very first started to rent out in 2013 but now in 2022 things are looking tired and worn. The dining room chairs were shedding their pleather and mostly on our bare skin, and even though Mike stated he had new covers for them, they did not materialize during our stay, nor did the interior fridge light. The beds were very uncomfortable and could use toppers at the very least. All the knives were dull and one even had a huge chunk out of the metal. The cooking pots and pans were very worn and need replacing. The stairs up to the master bedroom were narrow and uneven heights which made it a little dangerous as was the metal ladder to get up to the loft. Not for folks who get up at night who need to use the bathroom. There is no central air but there is a swamp cooler and a ceiling fan on the main floor and a window shaker upstairs. Fans in the bedrooms would have been nice. For the money, it needs updating as do the photos.

Fun in the sun!

We are a group of 10 family members 3 generations. The accommodations were in a perfect waterfront location with spectacular scenery. Our host Mike went above and beyond to make our stay the best possible. The house was very close to many attractions in the area. Would recommend staying here.

Location location location

This is an outstanding Oceanside property with endless vistas to appreciate. Our group took advantage of the pub and high end restaurant within walking distance as well as a guided kayaking tour right there in the inlet. We saw seals, eagles, and even, much to our delight, a trio of orcas. The house needs some TLC but it is in the works. This is a great way to enjoy everything Egmont has to offer including Skookumchuck Narrows and Ruby Lake. We even fit in a day trip to Powell River with easy access to the ferry at Earl’s Cove. Our group of 13 all loved this area.

Lovely Stay On The Water

We had a great time at Mike's cabin! He was very hospitable and even showed us how to fish off the dock on the property. We all had a very nice time, and got to see many different animals (from bears, to seals, to even orcas!)

Perfect family gathering

Lovely location. A well rounded kitchen with everything you need. The host Mike, was very helpful and the fishing for salmon was very successful. The prawn traps brought in all kinds of critters including prawns. He had set up a day aquarium for my 4 y.o. Grandson. He loved it.. Captain Mike was more than generous with his time and knowledge. FYI the hike to Skoocumchuck Narrows requires good footwear. We will definitely go back.

As an early retired police officer, active building contractor, recreational and commercial diver, fisherman, and general all around outdoorsman who has spent most of his life on the West Coast of B.C. I can tell you that this location is one of the most beautiful, accessible and not commercialized areas around which is why we love it and enjoy sharing it with others. The ongoing property transformation from a tiny shack in the bush to a seaside family retreat is a reflection of the love of the area and the feelings we have about family and friends bonding and enjoying the precious recreational time that we all seem to have too little of. We suspect you will agree with our family and leave happier and a little closer too. That is our desire and goal.
