Chicks’ Corner Schoolhouse is one of the three remaining schoolhouses in Sandwich out of the original 25. The Chicks Corner School was originally built around 1806, with the current building constructed in 1839 and used until 1944.

The schoolhouse was charming and cozy, providing a unique alternative to a generic house stay. While the space small and is a little vintage (which is what makes the place special), the amenities provided covered all needs, with thoughtful touches such as walking sticks included. The linens were crisp and the towels were fresh and fluffy. The kitchenette allowed for “vacation” food prep. Communication with the owner was prompt and check-in was easy. A comfortable and fun stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this unique converted one-room schoolhouse. The location was very peaceful with minimal traffic and perfect for exploring the surrounding Sandwich and Squam Lake areas. The interior decor was charming and, although small, was plenty of room for 2 people. Messages to the host were always answered quickly. I highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay in the Sandwich area.

The schoolhouse was full of some very sweet touches like coffee, bug spray, little flashlights, games. The king bed was super comfy. The daybed was best for a smaller person. It is a beautiful drive to the location as well. It is a great getaway!

The Cozy Schoolhouse in Sandwich, New Hampshire was an excellent choice for us. The schoolhouse is exactly as advertised. It is quaint, historic, immaculate, and quiet. The town of Sandwich is a beautiful small New England town. The residents were great and the restaurants were excellent too. If you need a little place to get away for a little bit and some peace and quiet, this is the place.

Wonderful stay!

This schoolhouse was so much fun to stay in. Cute, clean, and cozy! My 9 year old loved it too. Really close to Sandwich Center and everything you’d want to do.

I'm the 4th generation of Tompkins' at Chick's Corner. My great grandfather, Maj. General William F. Tompkins, purchased the property with his wife. "Daddybill" and "Mammybill" as they were known, spent thier summers at the property. They were good friends with Ike and Mamie Eisenhower - having been classmates at West Point (class of '15 - "the class the stars fell upon") and the ex president and his wife visited a time or two.
