Lake Marion Getaway!

Our little place is nestled in the Mill Creek community in Vance, SC, with boat access to Lake Marion about 100 yards from our driveway. The neighborhood is friendly, with golf carts meandering about, people fishing, boating, enjoying their gardens and the local campground and restaurant.

We acquired this property on Lake Marion in 2015 and did a complete renovation, including all hardwood floors from reclaimed barn wood, brand new EVERYTHING - kitchen appliances, kitchen farm sink, counter tops, claw foot tub, toilets, furniture, decor, fixtures, Smart TV's (in every room), a/c and heating unit, water heater, and more! The unit is equipped with Direct TV and Netflix (account already hooked up) in the living room and both bedrooms. The property also has a covered building that can accommodate a boat (landing is football field away). This is a safe and quiet lake neighborhood, with a marina and restaurant within walking distance.

Guest have access to the entire property

Mill Creek is a small laid back, quite- waterside neighborhood. A campground and marina with restaurant is about a two block walk from the house.

Golf carts are a common mode of transportation in the neighborhood.

The neighborhood is golf cart friendly, so if you have one feel free to bring it.

Lakefront Vacay 2024

We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed our time at Lake Marion! Loved it! Pros: 1. Boat Landing around corner.. Covered shed in back of property. Bring long extension cord to plug up on back porch. No lighting in shed though. 2. House was clean and fully stocked with items you would need to cook. Had a great AC unit to keep you very cool. Plenty of towels/wash clothes etc, very beautiful decor and we loved the reclaimed wood floors, modern appliances to meet all of your needs, toys/books/games for kids, washing machine/dryer on premises located in back room, beds were very comfortable and also set of built in bunk beds if needed. No dressers but storage is under bed and in nightstands plus closet space. Overall very nice place and had a lot of pros to our stay. Host were excellent! Cons: Antique claw foot tub: Does not exist updated to modern shower tub combo TV- Roku but no Direct Tv Fridge: ice maker does not work so bring bag of ice. But it worked very well and was very clean Dryer: it worked but it does not work right for every cycle. I had to put on timed dryer to get to dry clothes more than 3 mins. Vanity in bathroom: top drawer did not work right but bottom one did so we used it Doors for bathroom: needs to be updated they roll and would not stay on tract. Host tried to help us so please don’t think they didn’t. We offered to fix it ourselves but couldnt get it to do right. Boat landing: ignore rude old man who lives in tan house.

In need of TLC

When we pulled up to the property our hearts sank because it looked dismal. We spent the next 3 days cleaning. It really needs a deep cleaning. We had to request silverware, cups, towels, and a few other things. The Direct TV didn’t work and required help from the property managers to get it online. The furniture was uncomfortable. The neighborhood was okay but the county in general is very poor and dirty. There is a great State Park near by as well as a National Park and a National Refuge Area. The lake itself has a lot of stumps to navigate around and the water is very muddy.

Excellent place for a quiet getaway!

The house was great and the quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors made it even better. It was nice being in a location where I didn't feel the need to lock up my vehicle or worry about my boat. The community boat ramp was very convenient too. Overall I'm very pleased with my stay at this relaxing location. My only complaint is that the weather wouldn't always cooperate with my plans of fishing the lake as much as I hoped to (which has nothing to do with the property or the owner, they were both great!) Definitely would rent again!

Fishing Santee Cooper

This property worked out well for us. We came to fish and we were looking for a property to only sleep in. We did not cook or use the laundry facilities. We would stay here again if we come back to Santee.

A Gem Neear Lake Marion

The owners clearly did a lot of work to renovate this home. It was very comfortable, neat and safe. Owners were very responsive to needs. The place was immaculate. It was also right near Lake Marion, which is what we wanted. The neighborhood is quiet and safe - on a dead end street. We brought our own food supplies as there were no restaurants around nor grocery stores, at least not what we wanted. We came prepared to be self sufficient. We had everything we needed and appreciated a nice, comfortable, safe place to stay with responsive hosts.

Great place

We enjoyed our stay at the designer lake house. I have been to the area on several other occasions and this place is by far the best house I have rented. Great location for fishing and boating. Mill Creek marina and restaurant is just a stones throw away. The neighbors were extremely friendly and the owners were very accommodating.

Everything we needed for a holiday getaway.

We were looking for a place to stay during the holidays that was relatively close to everyone we would be visiting and that would allow us to host Christmas Day dinner. This lake house was perfect. It had everything we needed to cook meals and entertain. The beds were large and extremely comfortable and we even commented on how we seemed to sleep so much better at the lake house than at home. We are seriously considering doing this again next year for Christmas and maybe even our summer visit.

Short and Sweet

We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend and we loved the house. Although we didn't spend a lot of time in the house, rather at my parents house in Santee, it was perfect for us. Access to Lake Marion is walking distance . . . yards not miles . . . and the neighborhood is quiet and clean. We will definitely be back!

The owner was very nice and accommodating, quick to respond back to any messages. Assisted with anything we needed during our stay. The house has everything needed to enjoy yourself. If back in the area, this is a definite destination of choice. Thank you Omar!

Gracious hosts, great experience

We had a great time at Lake Marion! Their home was exactly as advertised, and, in addition was clean and well maintained, with lovely extras like Netflix! One thing that deserves special mention is how responsive Omar and Julia are to emails, and what lovely hosts they are. They accommodated our difficult and changing schedules with such grace and generosity. Having rented many many times all over the world, this is the one thing that we most appreciate, and which will result in us recommending them to our friends and will keep us going back! Thank you, Omar and Julia for you kindnesses! P.S. I saw a previous review and have to say: no evidence of creatures in the kitchen or elsewhere!

Disappointed and totally disgusted

We call place "The house of many plagues." 1 Copperhead snake found in kitchen 2. Spider infested 3 Mouse in kitchen 4 bedbug infestation The placed was very uncomfortable to stay at & we will never stay there again!!!!!!!
