But wait, there's more!
When you book a stay in our cabin, you will get access to three clubhouses in the community (Chalet Village Owners Club). The pools and clubhouses are open from Memorial to Labor day. The upper clubhouse has open tennis courts that don’t require special access. The lower also has courts, but access is through clubhouse and staff is sporadic this time of year. Many of the local attractions and restaurants have discounts for members (there is a list of discounts on the website).
On top of that, we have a jacuzzi outside on a private deck where you can sit and relax with your friends and family with an amazing view of Downtown Gatlinburg and the nearby mountains.
Other things to note
AWD or 4x4 vehicles are advised during the winter season, as we do have what could be considered a steep driveway to novice mountain drivers. It's not 100% necessary, but highly encouraged.
You'll need to be able to climb up ~6 stairs to access the cabin.
Please keep in mind that we run on septic. So please do not flush ANYTHING that's not toilet paper.
In an effort to secure the premises, we've installed Eufy floodlights and smartlock at the front of the home. The neighborhood is very safe and private, but this helps us keep an eye on the property :)
Occasionally, you may see Mama Bear and her cubs. While they are adorable, please do not touch or go near them. And while they are so cute and look hungry, don't feed them, or leave any food or trash in your car. Again, DO NOT LEAVE FOOD IN YOUR CAR OR THEY COULD BREAK IN. If you give Mama bear and her kids some time, they will wander off the property :)
We do have a functioning chimney that you are free to use, but the home is BYOF (bring your own firewood).
If you map your destination before leaving the house you will find shortcuts without going through Gatlinburg.
Grocery stores – I recommend making a stop before arriving at the house. It is quite a trip to go after arriving, especially with traffic. There are three “major” chain stores. If you come in on 321 Food City is convenient. (Food City has smoked meats in front of the store every weekend through Labor Day and they are very good and super convenient) If you come in from Pigeon Forge, Publix and Kroger are convenient. There is also Chalet Village Market on Ski Mountain Road for a quick stop for things you forget.

At the top of the mountain, less than a mile from the house, is Ober Gatlinburg. There is much to do here. Check out the link for full details. There is a full service restaurant in addition to quick bites.
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge offer endless restaurants, bars, and entertainment. I guarantee you won’t run out of things to do or places to eat. Some of our favorite restaurants are The Apple Barn, The Peddlar, Huck Finns, These are our “tried and trues”, but there are many others we frequent and we always try new ones.
Moonshine is a new attraction for the area. You will find many distilleries in the area. It is amusing and fun to visit. They make the tastings interactive and fun.
Some of our favorite things:
-There are endless go cart tracks and arcades. I can’t count the number “gem mines”. .
-There are several interactive dinner shows.
-Dollywood features an amusement park and water park
-Horseback riding , you will find many offerings
-Mountain coasters, something unique to the area … they build roller coasters into the hill, so you get the thrill of a coaster and enjoy the scenery and you also control how fast you go.
-Cades Cove – A scenic loop road through a past settlement with historic buildings. I never tire of visiting! Pack a picnic and make this a must do. If you are there late afternoon/early evening you will see deer and other wildlife.
-Cherokee is an Indian Reservation on the other side of the Smokies. It is a beautiful drive with many scenic overlooks and hiking trails.
Two things I recommend are the Oconaluftee village and Unto These Hills Deer Farm Petting Zoo is a great day visit. It features many types of animals that you can pet and feed. Again, these are a few of our favorites. There is much more to do and see. Make the trip your own! We hope you enjoy your stay and return.
