The pool and game room was enjoyed by us all. Location was good. Close to everything. Beds could be upgraded but other than that we had a wonderful beach vacation.

It was very relaxing and accommodating! I felt as if I over packed because so much was provided. The pool was amazing, game room was fun! Beds were very comfortable!

Our family had a wonderful stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. The property was extremely cozy and inviting. All the furnishings were comfortable and the beds were great!! Excellent proximity to the beach and shopping! We all agreed that we would return!! Amazing stay!!

Easy check-in. Property is in nice neighborhood and walkable to the beach (20 mins) and downtown area. The host was communicative and easy to get ahold of. The ID verification process was a real pain since their website was malfunctioning. The house was clean for the most part. The backyard was my favorite, very quiet and private. The tall sumacs were really pretty. The mosquitoes were pretty bad though and didn't respond to the citronella candle. There's a cool game room downstairs with lots of stuff for kids to play.There were some issues that nearly derailed the trip though. Upon arrival the pool was murky and green and not safe to swim in. I spoke with the pool guy who arrived after us and he said he was needing to shock it multiple times over (can't safely swim in a shocked pool for 6 hours). The host was unaware of the pool's state. The pool guy came every day consistently and after multiple shocks got it in a "swimmable" state 1.5 days later. It never turned blue and was green the entire weekend, but we still swam because the pool was the reason we booked this place. Another issue: The house was infested with mice. There were mice droppings on the bedding and we had to change the bedding ourselves (bedding closet was infested too). Mice would run out across the floor while we were sitting on the couch. I found mouse droppings under my daughter's crib, horrifyingly.The host was very apologetic and refunded us 1 / 3 days, that's why this isn't a 1 star review.

Great house and great location! This was really convenient to so much stuff in Port A, including the beach. Pool was great, with lots of pool floats available. The kitchen was stocked with lots of dishes, although we did have to wash a few before use. Would definitely stay again and loved that it was pet friendly!!

Exceeded expectations

I was worried it was going to be too good to be true. It absolutely was not. This property was wonderful and the management team was great as well. I would without a doubt recommend this property and team.

Great Place to Stay

Overall we really enjoyed our stay at The Shell House. The local property manager had great communication with us prior to and during our stay. There was not a terrible laundry list of cleaning to do before checking out either. We couldn't use the master closet and that was not mentioned in the description so we kept our stuff in a different bedroom and the fridge took a while to cool which was slightly annoying but oh well. The house was clean, pool was lovely and very private with beautiful landscaping.

Fridges often take some time to reach their temperature set points when new items are loaded in. After review, we've found that the fridge is in great shape, and of course, we appreciate the tip! Short but Sweet

I only gave it 4 stars for cleanliness because we had to clean up a little after a previous renter or whoever stayed there last. Shell house is an awesome place to stay for family and friends. Relax by the pool. Just be careful because it is slippery. Downstairs garage has plenty of games. A little disappointed that the photo showed a dart board but there was one. Ping pong table made up for it. No AC but there is a fan, so it’s best to play there in the evening when it’s cooler. They had plenty of games to keep us occupied. Neighborhood was quiet but neighbors next door were a little loud all night. I know they were enjoying themselves. We did have throw away someone else’s trash that was left downstairs by the pool. One toilet paper for each restroom but they were almost empty so we had to buy some immediately. I suggest to bring your pans because the ones there were horrible. Garbage disposal didn’t work. It look like there was old moldy fruit peels inside. We didnt want to mess with it. All in all we did enjoy our stay. Lots of stairs so make sure your fit for it. I don’t recommend elderly or handicap people stay. We will definitely be back and we don’t mind renting again. For us, it was just right. We enjoyed it and all the amenities they offered even the bath wash and shampoo and conditioner.

Great place for a long weekend at the beach. Management was very responsive to one small landscaping request and the property was well maintained. Good beds for a rental too! :)

The host was very communicative which I liked. The house was an older house but still very nice. We couldn’t use the pool due to rain so we were stuck inside for most of the stay. Since we were stuck inside we were on the couches or room and had some critics/complaints. The tv in the living room was on the smaller side, which is fine but there were only two tvs in the home (primary room and living room). It would’ve been nice for all rooms to have a tv. Secondly we had movie nights in the living room and the reclining sides of the couch were kind of crooked so they were slightly uncomfortable. Lastly the main complaint we had was a pillow that my mom slept on. She noticed it the night before we left and we were all grossed out. It has a sticky and hard substance on it. She never noticed it since it was facing down every night. Also the two evenings that didn’t rain, we couldn’t use the lounge chair by the pool due to lots of spider webs and pool being dirty (and unkept grass). Can’t blame them for the grass because of the rain but it wasn’t pleasant. Overall we enjoyed our stay for the most part but will not recommend for a long stay.
