Original Fox Farm House Sleeps 8

Imagine stepping back in time to a beautiful, peaceful home nestled in Big Bear Lake, California! This estate is the original Fox Farm that has been extensively remodeled and renovated, all while keeping the original charm intact. The home sleeps 8 with parking.

Sleeping arrangements:

There are 3 bedrooms with 3 1/2 bathrooms:
-The Master bedroom, which has a Queen bed and a private bathroom
-The upstairs Guest Bedroom which has 1 Queen bed and 1 Double bed
-The upstairs 'Bunk Room', which is complete with 4 twin beds plus TV, DVD, VCR.

Enjoy movies by the wood burning fireplace in the living room, which has a large flat screen TV/DVD. The large farm house kitchen with dishwasher has a convenient half bath plus a spacious sun room to sip your morning coffee while overlooking the grounds.

Kids and adults will enjoy the downstairs game room / play room, complete with pool table, flat screen TV/DVD and foosball table; plus a washer and dryer and a second full sized refrigerator for extra food and drink storage.

Internet Access and free WIFI is included.

Guests are provided with soap, towels, shampoo and bedding. Guests are required to put all dirty linens by the washer machine when they leave and all dishes in the dishwasher running. It is understood that the premises will be left in a neat and orderly condition, free of debris.

Convenient access to outdoor activities such as mountain biking, zip lining hiking, golf, horseback riding fishing, sailing or wakeboarding. The Estate is off Fox Farm Road, 2 minutes from the market, 3 minutes from ski hills, and 4 minutes from the village with boutique shops, restaurants, theaters, and a bowling alley. The empty lot next door to the property leads to great hiking trails.

Year-round recreation areas are located at 7,000 feet in the San Bernardino Mountains northeast of Los Angeles, very close to the estate. There is a taxi service in town, along with Uber and Lyft. A rental car is needed if coming into the area by plane.

The Caretaker lives two houses away and is on call if help is needed. There is no smoking allowed inside and no pets allowed.

WEDDINGS - Although Country Barn Estate is not licensed for events, we ARE licensed for weddings and events for up to 100 guests one mile down the road at Apples Bed & Breakfast Inn, a property we also own. Apples B&B is a uniquely charming, two-story Victorian inn with Craftsman style influences that provides a romantic garden setting surrounded by tall pine trees, and features wedding gazebo. It is the perfect destination venue for weddings! Apples Inn offers a Wedding Suite, in-room massage and delicious home cooking! If you decide to get married in the Big Bear area, please consider Country Barn Estate for your lodging and Apples Bed & Breakfast as your venue.

Stayed again

Property is awesome for families. Huge sled hill in the back with multiple houses where families can have their own space while still being able to hang out as a group. Close to town and both ski resorts.

The management of this property has thought of everything. Extremely comfortable and well appointed house with tons of character and charm. Perfect for the whole family...from grandma to babies. Really enjoyed our stay in this historical landmark.

Great for Families

We had two families staying at the Original Fox Farm House over New Years (4 adults, 4 children). The property was perfect - from the game room downstairs to the play area in the back. The house is very cute and worked well with our situation.We had a slight issue with the key situation, but the owner was very quick to respond and even came out to check on the door/key while we were there.Highly recommend, and we hope to be back next year for our annual Big Bear trip!

Nice property

Loved the sledding slope on property. House 3 is great. House 1 needs general maintenance and repairs. House 2 is minimalist. Quality of linens and towels could be better. Overall worked well for our group.

Awesome family reunion/ blessing ceremony

We had such a wonderful time. The property was gorgeous and each house had wonderful features. I have seen other reviews say the pictures?don't do it justice and they don't! If we are ever able to have a family reunion again in Big Bear, we will definitely stay here. The Barn is amazing!! Santiago and Laurie answered every question we had and allowed us to check in early and check out late. Thank you so much!!

A dream come true!

We looked at this property in March to rent for July & it was absolutely stunning in March. Come July.. and it’s sooo beautiful! Santiago and his family help keep the property absolutely spotless. The kids fully enjoyed the basketball court and play ground. The adults loved the jacuzzi. We want to do it again next summer. 10/10 recommend!

We had the best time!

This property is absolutely beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights in July. We lucked out with beautiful weather in the 70’s. We came with a group of girls for a church retreat. They were in heaven. They could not believe they got to stay in such a beautiful place. The grounds are wonderful. We spent almost all of our time enjoying the yard space. We used the built in amphitheater next to the barn for evening gatherings and an outside movie night. We used the tables in the yard throughout the day for activities and crafts. We did all of our cooking in the back house. I would say the AC was not efficient in the upstairs back house. But you could open the windows. This property is so charming and well kept. I highly recommend it. The price point is a steal for what you have access to. We even had a bear stroll through the property one day at lunch time that gave us quite a scare but luckily most of us were already at the back house balcony preparing to eat lunch. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Better Than Expected

The photos didn’t do this place justice. The property is immaculate, manicured and pristine. All three houses are so nice and complete, they feel like a home and not just a rental. From the ceramic tile counter tops to the furniture - really wonderful place. And the oversized bathrooms/oversized showers - wow. Lives the place. Came away thinking it was worth more than what we paid.

Engagement weekend

This property was beautiful and well taken care of. More than we expected. Everyone was able to gather on the common grounds between all the homes. Very relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect Property for a large group

The property was absolutely perfect for our large group. There were some who wanted a quiet space for which the front house was perfect and the kids loved the loft so they could play games separate from the adults. We have done this trip annually now for over 12 years and everyone said this was there favorite place by far!

A very delightful place for our large family gathering.

The new house if exceptionally comfortable and well laid out for a large group. The original house is nice and functional. Grounds are well kept and very useable even in the winter. It would have been nice to have a list of kitchen supplies as some were not available and had to be purchased for our cooking. Overall a wonderful stay!

Christmas Vacation

We had such a wonderful time staying here at the Country Barn Estate. The place was spotless clean when we arrived, everything worked just fine. We had plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably and even with their own bathrooms. My kids had a blast outside on the playground and playing basketball on the court they have. Our stay was so comfortable and we enjoyed ourselves very much. It is super close to the village which was nice and super close to the market. The only thing I would have a ( I wouldn't even call it a complaint ) I guess something I would like them to have, is a small toaster and if they would allow more people to stay instead of 16. We would have loved to have more of our family experience this wonderful trip we had with us. Other than that we were already talking about renting it out next year.

A True Paradise

There are not a lot of words to explain this wonderful place. It was more than we could have asked for. 3 very unique, separate retreats for multiple families. This place is a true treasure. A great place for family retreats for sure. We were totally blessed by coming here. Completely exceeded our expectations. Great yard for kids to play, game room, and plenty of room for everyone.

Great property for a family getaway!!!

We had a great time while staying at this property. The kids loved the swing set and the concrete driveway for them to ride scooters! The owners were very nice as well!! We will definitely be back!!!

Beautiful property. Especially fun for a family.

This is a beautiful property consisting of more than just a rental house. The grounds are safe for children to play- there even is a play structure for little ones. In the winter, there also is a sledding hill, which is also fun for children. Both houses on the property are well appointed with all the kitchen and bath necessities. The check in and check procedures are made to be most convenient, and there is always someone to call if there is a problem of any kind. We have stayed at this property three times now and have never encountered a problem. We hope to return again to this wonderful place for a family get away.

Fantastic, just like last time!!!

This was our second time here at this property, and it was amazing once again! The property is absolutely fantastic and Laurie and Erin are also very sweet and accommodating. Thanks agin for a wonderful retreat.

I have been in the rental and wedding business for over 12 years. I love to travel and take pictures around the world. I also enjoying cooking and setting up special events. Currently, I am in the process of building a large event center for weddings.

I am also one of the owners of Kagan Professional Development that trains teachers around the world in Active Engagement strategies. Our materials are translated into 13 languages and we have franchises worldwide.
