Bright and Spacious Secluded Forest Home with Sprawling Yard and Private Brook
Escape to "Gunn Brook Mountain House," a sun-filled mid-century home on 14 private acres with 1,000+ feet of brook frontage and a sprawling, mowed lawn. Enjoy an expansive deck, fire pit, hammock, and endless nature. Inside, find retro charm, modern comforts, a vast record collection, cozy fireplace, books, games, and a chef’s kitchen. Swim in hidden brook pools, explore the forest, or unwind on the deck. With lush views, stylish interiors, and total serenity, this is the perfect getaway.
Welcome to our home, a one-of-a-kind mid-century escape set on 14 private acres of pure tranquility. Originally built in the 1950s, with a modern addition in the 1970s, this two-story home is filled with natural light, retro vibes, and modern comforts (3 full bathrooms), making it the perfect escape for families, couples, and nature lovers. With over 1,000 feet of private brook frontage, an expansive deck, and a beautifully curated interior, this home invites you to relax, explore, and unwind.
Inside, the open-concept first floor offers a spacious living area designed for comfort and connection. Large windows and screened windows let in plenty of sunlight throughout the day, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The living room features a Floyd Detroit sofa, a huge flat-screen TV, and a record player with a vast vinyl collection. A cozy fireplace stocked with endless firewood ensures you’ll stay warm and relaxed no matter the season. For those who love game nights, a dartboard, board games, and books are all provided.
The stocked kitchen is a dream for any home chef, complete with every appliance you could need—including a vintage double oven, a Keurig and a juicer. The large countertop space makes it easy for multiple people to cook together.
The dining room features a mid-century bar cart, an extra large dining table that comfortably seats eight, and a second workspace with a desk and comfortable chair.
Also on this floor, you’ll find a queen bedroom that doubles as an office and gym, a bathroom with a shower and all essential toiletries, a modern entryway/mudroom, and a laundry room fully stocked with detergents and dryer sheets for your convenience.
Upstairs, the second floor offers a peaceful retreat with two king bedrooms, each featuring plush Tuft & Needle mattresses, ample closet space, and flat-screen TVs. The primary bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with a shower, while the second full bathroom on this level includes a bathtub and a bidet. A linen closet is stocked with extra towels, sheets, essentials, and sleep masks, ensuring a restful stay.
Stepping outside, you’ll find yourself in an outdoor paradise. The 14-acre property includes a large, bi-weekly mowed yard, perfect for lawn games like badminton or simply running around with the kids. The deck extends the entire length of the home, offering multiple seating areas, a large dining table, lounge chairs and a charcoal BBQ grill. Take one of the two fully-charged bluetooth speakers by the record player with you out on the deck or anywhere on the property.
Beyond the deck, Gunn Brook winds through the property year-round, offering a soothing soundtrack to your stay. The brook varies in depth, creating small waterfalls, swimming holes, and sandy beaches, all perfect for a refreshing dip or a moment of quiet reflection. A fire pit, hammock, and picnic table are set right by the water, providing the perfect spot to gather with loved ones or enjoy a peaceful afternoon. The property extends across the brook to a small forested mountain, offering many opportunities for hiking and exploration.
Though this home is surrounded by nature, it remains conveniently close to town, making it easy to stock up on essentials or explore local attractions. Whether you’re looking for a secluded retreat, a creative escape, or a fun getaway for the whole family, our home promises an unforgettable stay.
