Convenient for walking

We walk everywhere so it was convenient to get to Chelsea, groceries, some great restaurants, Times Square, a few museums, subways, etc. The actual apt was a good deal for the location, but it was not as clean or comfortable as I'm used to. The lighting in the bedroom that I stayed in had one bright ceiling light with the switch outside the room. I actually cleaned some of the baseboard in the bathroom that was too dirty to look at. Outside my bedroom window was a ton of trash. And, thank goodness for the air conditioners, because it was really hot in there. We didn't spend a lot of time in the apt so it was mostly a base place to sleep. It was nice to have a little kitchen there.

Good price but this place needs work

It's NY so if you are looking for a budget two bedroom, this is a solid choice, if you aren't super picky. There are issues though that make this feel like a quick cash earning rental property and not a nice vacation spot.I encourage the owner to read this and address some of the issues.- The property is clean and has had work done but the building and some of the apartment still smells like cat pee. -Put some work into making the space nicer. Get some lamps, the overhead lights are harsh. The doors have windows on them but no curtains. This means no privacy if you're in the bedroom. When lights are on, the rooms are very bright because the doors aren't solid. We had to hang sheets on the door as a hack. - OK, this is New York and rats are everywhere, this is just one of New York's charms. However, guests are told we have to take the trash out. The property owner should not require this as there are rats in outdoor trash area. - Guests are told they have to wash the dishes but the dishwasher isn't even powered on.-This is not steps from Time Square and theater district. It's in Hell's Kitchen. It's a cool location but this is not really an honest assessment of the location. Theater district is a 15 minute walk

We came into this knowing it was a tiny apartment, and we wanted the immersive experience. We loved the three small but brand new and powerful air conditioners, although they were noisy. It was a hot visit. But this place came with no frills whatsoever. They even boast of free complimentary coffee. There was no coffee. There were four stray tea bags and a container of sugar. We suspect the previous guests left things behind. We did too. We left three cold bottles of club soda and some chips and bread and coffee.Precisely three towels. One for each of us. No kitchen towels, one hand towel, no washcloths.Precisely one towel rack to hang the three towels. We took to claiming our own and hanging them on our closet rods, or draped over door knobs. There is room for tons more racks and hooks and surfaces to hang and place our clothing and towels. The walls are absolutely bare and screaming for shelves, hooks, and racks. No complimentary coffee, no water bottles, no creamer, no snacks, nothing. We requested bedside tables with bedside lamps, as other reviewers have mentioned. The tables were there. There were no lamps. I spent money on three clip-on reading lamps. The ceiling light switches were outside the rooms.It is a dark apartment, and night lights should have been provided.I paid over 2,500, for three people, for five full days. For that much, I expect a little something more.

Meager Accommodations in Hell's Kitchen

We ended up here last minute when our original rental fell through, and VRBO tried to help us find anything available. I would not have chosen this place, and would not recommend it to others.Pros: 1) The beds in the bedrooms are comfortable for sleeping up to 4 guests.2) Checkin was easy3) The area (Hell's Kitchen at 11th Ave) felt safe and quietCons:4) Location - It's a 15-20 minute walk to any subway line, 20-25 minute walk to Times Square and Broadway shows. We had to do that walk 2-4 times per day.5) The bathroom is ROUGH. Giant cockroaches kept crawling in/out of the gaping hole behind the shower enclosure. The outlets had been painted over dozens of times. The door didn't open/close without a kick. It was just grimy and gross in there. 6) Do not try to sleep a 5th guest on that pull out sofa. It's way too uncomfortable, unless you're accustomed to camping. 7) The refrigerator had issues - wasn't cooling and made very loud grinding/knocking noises. It took them 4 days to respond to our request to fix it. Once fixed, it worked fine.8) We only got one physical key, so it was tough to coordinate, and we couldn't split up.9) Inflexible management - when VRBO asked to change our reservation, management refused. So we just sucked it up and stayed. 10) High fees. We ended up paying 4x the nightly rate because of fees. For that price, you can get a much nicer hotel.
