Unfortunately, this stay had several issues. Most importantly, the listing did not show the three stone steps required to get from the road into the yard. I specifically communicated with the host about the stairs because my mother uses a wheelchair and I even purchased a small ramp for the final step into the house from the side entrance that has a ramp. Had the additional steps been shown, I would not have booked. As a result, my mother, who I seeing for the weekend, was unable to visit.I was also traveling alone with my 2-year-old and was uncomfortable finding the side door and several windows unlocked, along with badly broken blinds that affected privacy. The Blackstone was very dirty, and the charcoal grill was filled with water. The biggest issue was the heat. I checked in Saturday and woke Sunday to the house reading 56F. Unbeknownst, the wall unit did not work the heating system. A mini split with a remote was located yet didn’t improve temperatures. Maintenance connected remotely, reset the system, and set it to 77, but Monday morning two thermometers still read only 62–64F. No one physically inspected the system until Monday, by which point I had checked out early and moved to a hotel. Maintenance later replaced a filter and said it noticeably improved the heat.Scott was responsive, which I appreciated. I recommend repairing the blinds, adding a street-level photo showing the stone steps, and providing instructions inside explaining how to control the heat.
